Storms of Superior Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I'm about to create a backup disc to boot with a new HD. Before I do this I want to remove every trace of Steam and Skyrim from my computer so I don't get the traces of unwanted mods when I use the backup disc. Where can I find all of these places? BTW I did disable the Steam cloud, but I still get unwanted crap when I play a fresh installation.
gvman3670 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I've clicked the start button then typed "skyrim" into the search field there. Then removed every instance I could find (besides the compressed mods). Nearly everything will come out with the uninstallation of the game itself. Then uninstall Steam. The rest should all be found in C/documents/my games.

That's exactly why I put "Skyrim" in the search field. Then if it's on my machine it will find it and show me where it is.
Storms of Superior Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 OK. I am having difficulty with creating a backup disc. It seems to want to use several discs. Can a system image be used in place of a backup disc? If I use a flash drive, how much space should I have available?
Guest carywinton Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 You can make a backup of any Steam game through it's interface. It will be quite large and it will make a folder for each CD/DVD depending on the choice you make for the backup type media. I just looked at it and clicked on the game, then right clicked to get "properties" , clicked on the "Local Files" tab and clicked on "Back Up Game Files" . It then stated about 13 GB would be needed to back up the game.
Storms of Superior Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 I opened my other laptop to change the hard drive. It appears that it has another (second) hard drive inside it aready. i removed the bracket where I thought there was a second hard drive, but there is only an empty hole with no way to connect a second hard drive. Am I missing something?
Storms of Superior Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Seriously. I made the clone for my C:/ drive, and I can't boot a new hard drive using it. What other methods are available for taking my OS from one HD to a new one?
prideslayer Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I think what you're missing is the manual for your laptop to tell you if it supports a 2nd HDD or not, and if so, how to install it. You should be able to download a PDF from the manufacturers website.
