audhol Posted April 24, 2025 Posted April 24, 2025 So I been pining over this chair for a long time and today in France they have a sale for 25% off, still its like 1300 euro which for me is basicaly a months wage. I would be interested from hearing from my fellow gamers from someone who has bought one with their own money and what their thoughts are on it. I don't have the option to visit a store as there is only one n France in Paris which is like 8 hours away from me. I'm kinda tall at around 184 cm and slightly above european average build at 95 KG The thing thats stopping me is that you need to shell out another 200 bucks for the Atlas headrest and the Vantum just looks cheap next to the Embody. Although it may not look like it from my content release I probably spend on average around 4 hours per day on my arse in fronyt of the PC. Thanks in advance for any first hand info.
51offthescale Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 I don't know about the Embody but I have the Aeron and it is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I've sat in this chair for many extended sessions (longest being 30+ hours) and not found it uncomfortable at all. I work from home so I end up sitting in it for 8+ hours a day and don't get tired. You just need to spend the time tweaking and adjusting it for your body. 23 hours ago, audhol said: I'm kinda tall at around 184 cm and slightly above european average build at 95 KG I would check the sizing of the Embody, its only sold in one size unlike the Aeron. 23 hours ago, audhol said: headrest I never bothered getting one and haven't felt like I needed it in the 5 years I've had this chair. 1

Thanks for the info, honestly the more I look the less decided I am, I was pining for the embody but since its been on sale I've seen more reviews saying its just not for everyone, either you love it or its not right. I did look at the Aeron but it's even more money than the Embody, the Vantum looks awfull for the money it costs and I think I would rather get the ergohuman gen 2 than that. I guess being spoiled for choice is a good thing but being indecisive is something Auds do best.

Its tough because even if you have somewhere to try the chair, you won't really know if you find it comfortable or not until you have an extended session sitting in it. I never sat in an Aeron before buying it, I just went in blind and I'm glad it worked out. You also can't just throw money at a new chair and expect it to work fine. I used to have an RH Logic 400 (approx. same price as an Aeron) and didn't really like sitting in it. Luckily I didn't pay for that chair so it wasn't a big a deal. I feel like what I've said above may dissuade you from buying a chair but honestly a high quality chair really is one of the best things I've ever purchased. When the time comes to replace this chair I won't hesitate to buy another Aeron. A new chair being a month's salary for you is a significant purchase, but if you sit in it often enough it is absolutely worth it. If you're going to overextend on your finances buying a chair it might be worth looking at used chairs? Office furniture gets liquidated fairly regulary as companies change office, go out of business etc.
Ashal Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 I got an Aeron. I've really like it and don't regret the purchase. My only complaints with it is that I used to frequently sit in a way that one of my feet would be propped up on the seat cushion (kind of like halfway criss-cross-applesauce or whatever you want to call it) but with the Aeron's mesh seat and the way it's curved, suddenly made that very uncomfortable. But honestly, it's probably a good thing for my posture that the chair is forcing me not to sit that way anymore, I guess? The gas cylinder on my Aeron also stopped working after about 5 years, leaving it stuck at the lowest height. It was around 50-60 bucks or so to buy a replacement cylinder, and not too hard to install. And if you're going for extended sitting sessions, I would recommend sticking with the mesh seat rather than the cushion, it just breathes so much better and keeps your ass cool during long sits. However, it's not the most comfortable of materials if you're ever sitting in the chair bare-assed for... reasons. But other than those two issues, I generally love the Aeron chair and find it a lot more comfortable than my previous office chairs, which ranged from $300 to $400. It's also lasted a lot longer without starting to fall apart.

No on the contrary, it's good to know that someone who spent their own money and made a choice is happy with it. It's basically imposible to get an unbaised opinion on anything so to hear it from someone who has no horse in the race is worthwhile. 9 hours ago, Ashal said: The gas cylinder on my Aeron also stopped working after about 5 years, leaving it stuck at the lowest height. No idea, I didn't check. I just bought the replacement part from a 3rd party source. If it was still under warranty, I probably could have gone through that, but I'm lazy and don't like dealing with customer support. 1
