This thread is for 'Game Packs' and the roaming NPS EA included in them. Replacers for 'Expansion Packs' can be found in its own thread. I'll include the guide for replacers from the original thread so you have all informations here too.

 

Introduction

The biggest issue with the Sims is the clash between created Sims and the ones the game includes. You can create stunning Sims for yourself but the provided ones are still fugly... And the very obvious difference can be quite jarring. So lets replace them with better versions.

This guide here will serve two purposes:

1. It will tell you how to replace existing non-player Sims with 'created' ones.

2. I'll store my created families here so you have the guide and all tray files and previews in one place.

 

Replacing NPS

 

With a save file.

With a save file (see below) the whole thing is quite easy.

1. Download the save and copy it into your saves folder.

2. Downloaad the listed replacer files.

3. Start the save and go to 'Manage worlds'.

4. Click a lot you want to use for your own Sim and either create one or import an existing Sim.

5. Evict 'Maleena' and  go to 'Manage Households'.

6. Check 'Other Households' for families you want to replace. Delete those old EA versions.

7. Click on the blue hearts to move replacers from 'My Households' to 'Other Households'.

8. Save the game into a new slot and restart the game.

9. Have fun.

 

Manual

Without using an additional tool it requires some manual work. Just follow the steps for every family you want to replace.

  1. Obviously downloading the tray files for the 'new' family comes first. 😉

  2. Start your save, go to 'Manage Worlds' and select the house with the family you want to replace.

  3. Click on the three dots in the lower right, and select 'Manage Households'.

  4. This will open up the current family.

  5. Now 'merge' the replacer into the family.

  6. Delete the old EA versions. 

  7. Select 'Play'.

  8. Select the next house with a family 'til you're finished.

  9. Click on the blue hearts to move the replaced families to the 'Other Households'.

10. Save and then restart the game.

11. Have fun.

 

NPS

There are three different types of NPS in the game. Two of those are easily replaced, but the third one is a bit tricky.

 

NPS Families

Those live in a house and are covered by this thread and the one for 'Game Packs'.

 

Roaming NPS

Those Sims were created by EA and are not connected to a house. They behave similar to random NPS and can show up everywhere. As they are included in a certain pack I'll add them as a separate file in the entry of the corresponding pack. Don't forget to delete the vanilla version in 'Other Households' when you install the replacer version.

 

Random NPS

These Sims are randomly created by the game and are quite fugly. So far it looks like the game checks your gallery for Sims, and generates a random Sim if it can't find one that fits its criteria. So I can only recommend to create your own pool of 'random' Sims.

 

To do so use a Sim from your gallery, assign them a house, and then evict them. They are now assigned to the pool of random NPS. Just make sure they are not in your list of playable Sims.

 

Requirements

As all the families are based on my guide you'll obviously need the mods listed in the spreadsheets (bold font). I'll include NSFW files in case they are needed (nothing special, only to have one file/download for everyone).
