Back2friday Posted March 19, 2025 Posted March 19, 2025 (edited) Hi i have some high gpu usage on locked 60fps, but my gpu is hitting 100% sometimes. For now i just noticed it near riverwood during a storm, because on a new game and new modbuild. Not sure if it is the 4k textures (vram is just at 7GB right now) or some other mod maybe one of you guys know about. Thanks edit: removing SFO solved it a bit. Went from 80-100% (some areas), to 60-75%. loadorder # This file was automatically generated by Mod Organizer. Grass would be a good place to start investigating. If you gpu is trying to render the geometry of 11 billion blades of grass I can imagine it certainly would hit 100% usage. 1

Went from 80-100% (some areas), to 60-75%. Did you go into the inn in Riverwood and check gpu usage, etc in there? Most grass mods have recommend settings for ini files. Did you set those? Did you try lowering them?
traison Posted March 19, 2025 Posted March 19, 2025 (edited) When I recently switched from ENB to CS, these were the things I recall had a noticeable impact on the frame rate: Using the nVidia driver and the game in exclusive mode to limit fps, instead of any of the other implementations. Seems every other mod* comes with an fps limiter these days, make sure only one of them is enabled, preferably the one from your gpu vendor. (~2 fps) Shadow map scale which I used to have at 8192 could be lowered to 2048 once I figured out some quality issues with CS. (~20 fps) Render distance, or LOD distance of everything could be lowered with xlodgen and dyndolod configured properly. (~10 fps) Apparently some grass mods somehow manage to cause a heavy impact on fps without actually doing anything different from other comparable mods. Not sure why. Could be a myth, as Verdant (which is the one I use) is supposed to be one of the problematic ones. Maybe I should try another grass mod? Considering how easy it is to do, I'd suggest you nuke your Skyrim ini files. Start over with the bethini high (not ultra) preset and see what happens. Apply the step ini configuration guide, and go from there. If you get no improvements, you can restore your current inis from a backup and be back to gaming within a minute. Only complicated thing to keep in mind here is that bethini has things placed in the wrong files, and for instance their grass render distance setting is wrong. There's bethini pie too, but I haven't tested it, I made my own ini editor instead. I basically went from 30 fps to 50-60 fps by redoing my Skyrim ini configuration. This is with CS + all modules + EVLaS, tested in the most problematic place I could find, which surprisingly was the forest area near the east exit from Falkreath at ~6AM in the morning. 3060 RTX 12GiB model. * Sure, I exaggerated a bit. But np i changed iminigrass to 50 and it also was SFO that was heavy on some parts. I replaced it with 2 other replacers that has no added nifs to it or esp's. I also use skyrim202x 4k with parralax and the roads aswell and mountains and sky are all 4k. Vram sits at 7GB so that shouldnt be a problem i guess.
