anjenthedog Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 I was fiddling with some Racemenu settings and stopped on the Expressions tab for a few minutes to test out Individual Eye Alignment Sliders For Racemenu that I'd just installed. Anyway, adjusting various sliders (including the ones I was testing specifically) in the Expressions tab it got me to thinking... I'm curious, is it possible to export expressions "designed' in Racemenu? It would sure would be a convenient tool for tailoring expressions if so... Stock expressions can be a bit like armor and clothing, and "one size" doesn't fit all (faces)....
belegost Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 If you save it as preset it will keep it. But also everything else. 1
traison Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 (edited) I'm still looking for a way to make lip biting and cross-eyed expressions for SL, but so far it hasn't been possible from Papyrus. Its a different set of tri files that are loaded by RM compared to what's loaded outside of RM. Meaning, unless this method of exporting can write tri files and the setup to load them, your new expressions won't be usable from Papyrus - i.e. you couldn't apply them from SL. traison Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 (edited) An update to my previous post: Load tri files with this: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/109636?tab=description Cross-eyed expression comes built-in conveniently enough: mfee 5 0 100 Can be used from Papyrus. Edit: Unfortunately at least the Papyrus function causes the face to reset to a default state for about a frame every time it is called. This can't be used in a system with smooth expression transitions, without it turning into a jittering mess. Edited September 23, 2025 by traison
traison Posted September 23, 2025 Posted September 23, 2025 Reviving an old thread again but figured it might be worth doing as this thread ended with no real solutions or ideas (imo). The mod I mentioned in my previous post has been fixed, and it no longer causes expression jittering. I successfully added cross-eyed expressions to my own facial expression mod yesterday. The only unfortunate thing about it right now (for me at least) is that it's made for the vanilla head mesh, meaning HPH is not supported. I can make the tri files for this myself, so this is more a matter of finding the free time. Eye expressions work on whatever, since it's using a different tri file. So how does this help the OP? As far as I know, this mod is the only avenue we have to bring custom expressions into Papyrus. The platform is finally there, now we need to use it to build something.
