RichterQ87 Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 So I'm having a few errors.  The ones with Nexus mod Manager: "The selected plugin has been manually removed" (Anytime I try and activate a mod or plugin)  When I ran Boss (There are also no recognized/unrecognized/SKSE plugins in the list) Critical Error: "C:\Users\#####\AppData\Local\Skyrim\loadorder.txt" cannot be written to! And then when I tried to close Tess5edit: "Cannot create file "C:\Users\#####\Appdata\Local\Skyrim\Plugins.tes5viewsettings. Acess is denied"  So at the moment I'm nice and fucked. Any help would be really appreciated.
myuhinny Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 If that is happening when you try to turn on a plugin it means you have hit the plugin limit and you have to turn one off to get that one to turn on.
GensouSekai Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 You can have a total of 254 other plugins besides skyrim.esm. Adding in the update.esm and excluding DLCs, there's a max of 253 extra esps or esm files you can have. Just deactivate some. Â
RichterQ87 Posted December 25, 2013 Author Posted December 25, 2013 When I try to deactivate it I get the same error. The selected plugin has been manually removed
myuhinny Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Are you using any mods from steam? If you are then that is the reason as the manager will only show the ones that you have installed through it but it keeps track of the steam ones as well but they will not show up so you may be over the limit so you might have to turn a few more off.
Guest corespore Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I'd recommend you use Mod Organizer instead of NMM http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1334/?. I've been told you can have up to 8,000 mods activated in it at any given time. Also, it stores all your mods into a separate folder from your skyrim game so your not tampering with the main file. And, it doesn't require an online connection to work properly. Give it a try, i switched a while ago and haven't looked back.

No I don't use any mods from steam whatsoever. I didn't get Skyrim from Steam.  I'd recommend you use Mod Organizer instead of NMM http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1334/?. I'll let you now how it works out! Thanks!
RichterQ87 Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 Disaster. I started it up without admin and i got flooded with errors. For example: Failed to write log to C:/Program Files (x86)/Mod Organizer/logs/mo_interface.log: Access is denied   When I ran it as admin I get: Failed to find "C:/Programfiles (x86)/Mod Organizer/Profiles/Default/modlist.txt"  It's the same thing as NMM. It's always got something to do with the fucking modlist. When I searched up for the modlist.txt in the directory that was brought to me it wasn't there.  Edit: I installed Nexus Mod Manager again and I can't even uninstall a mod without an error.
gvman3670 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Nexus is all messed up today. Bad. Really bad. The site keeps going down, you can't get connected to servers and so on. Â Are you using the newest NMM?

Are you using the newest NMM?  Yes I'm using the newest NMM. But I've had this problem for like 2-3 days now.
Guest corespore Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Where did you drop the Mod Organizer file? From the looks of the error it's saying it can't find your skyrim game. It works best if you place it in the same folder as your skyrim launcher (TES5.exe and Skyrim Launcher.exe) When you run it after that you shouldn't need to run it as an administrator. I'm not sure how it interacts with NMM though, when i got tired of NMM acting up all the time i erased all traces of it from my PC and did a fresh game install before i did the switch to MO (Mod Organizer). You might need to manually pull some files from NMM to free it up before you can make any changes that don't give constant errors, i cant recall what the file path for NMM is, something like C:\program files(86)\nexus\nexus mod manager. It's been a while since i had the program installed so hopefully someone who still has it installed can give you the exact file path. Anyways, when you do find it go to the mods section and click and drag as many un-active mods as possible to an extra folder you have setup somewhere that's easy to find, your desktop for example. That should free up enough of NMM to allow you to start fixing things.
RichterQ87 Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 I found the directory. For those in the future that might get the same problem it's: C:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Skyrim (Or whatever game)\Mods  So I finally managed to uninstall mods but now there's another problem when trying to activate a mod I just downloaded...  A problem occurred during install: "Could not find file 'C:\Users\#####\AppData\Local\Temp\NexusModManager\vlezt4hw.qtb\PCTV\fomod\ModuleConfig.xml' The mod was not installed"  And everytime I try and activate an esp same thing happens as before:  "The selected plugin has been manually removed. Restart NMM or select again your game on Change Game Mode to refresh the plugin list."  NMM really hates me.  I just tried again to activate a mod I downloaded (non esp) and the same thing that happens with the esp happened  The selected plugin has been manually removed. Restart NMM or select again your game on Change Game Mode to refresh the plugin list.  And after that came immediately another error.  A problem occurred during install: BOSS_API_ERROR_FILE_WRITE_FAIL: "C:\Users\####\AppData\Local\Skyrim\loadorder.txt" cannot be written to! The mod was not installed  Yeah... NMM really hates me. Â
RichterQ87 Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 I... I finally fixed it...!!!!! For anyone who might have this same problem in the future here's the solution:  First you want to go to: C:\Users\(Yours)\Appdata\Local\Skyrim and right click on plugins.txt and click properties. Here you want to make sure that 'Read only' AND 'Hidden' is unticked. After that, run up Nexus and it's all fixed  So many errors with such a simple solution. Feel kinda stupid now xD Glad to have finally caught a break   Â
Guest corespore Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 NMM hates us all. A couple of weeks ago i had my PC shut down by one of those Ransom-ware viruses that locks down everything. You have to restart your PC in safe mode and Basically un-install everything to slow it down long enough to take it to a shop and have them remove it, 195 bucks to get the job done. I first assumed it was caught from all the "adult" (porn) sites i visit but after i ran into the guy who fixed my PC he brought up that my PC had 13 viruses on the hard-drive and all were placed there by a program called "nexus mod manager". He had no idea what it was so we can all safely assume he wasn't saying anything out of spite. When i dropped a PM to one of the nexus administrators about the problem they said it was from an attack from a banned person and that the problem was solved. Three days later my PC get the same damn virus again, and guess how it got there? I sould have asked the guy who repaired my PC to make an action log of the whole thing because when i got it the second time and brought it up to the nexus staff again i was threatened with a ban for lying. You want my advice, save yourself a ton of money and get that crap off your PC, learn from my mistake. http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Mod_Organizer#tab=Welcome Here's a non-nexus site that does a very good job of explaining how to install Mod Organizer if your still interested. Also, this forum thread here on LL http://www.loverslab.com/topic/20492-mod-organizer/?hl=%20mod%20%20organizer .

CGi Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 8000 mods which only have 254 plugin files, as this is the limit.
Sneaksmile Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 8000 mods which only have 254 plugin files, as this is the limit.  Then the key are the plugins not the mods, right?  so ... not really big difference between MO and NMM ... or yes?  Greetings.
CGi Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 The engine can only handly 256 plugins - 2. That's key, as you mentioned. But an amount of plugins > 190 makes the game noticably unstable, so merging (mostly non-scripted [like armor and such] mods) is king to reduce the amount of mods, which then allows the user to use even more mods.

CGi Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Nope. There's no way to raise the limit of how many plugins can be loaded, as this would mean patching the engine big time which is more effort then what it's worth as there are ways to reduce the amount of loaded mods. Â As for merging plugins: Check the Nexus for merging scripts for TES5Edit (the best way for merging imho, even tho some people prefer Wrye Bash) and follow their description. As you merge for the first time, make things easier for you and DON'T merge scripted mods (indicated by a folder named scripts [check inside possible BSAs as well using BSAOpt or similar]). And never merge plugin files that other mods use as dependencie (may be a soft dependencie, so check the mods description about the mods it supports as-is). Â Merging a scripted mod may break the scripts and the mod may refuse to run or behave arkward.Merging a plugin that another mod uses as dependencie may lead to a ctd when the game tries to load the menu or (in case of a soft dependencie) remove the additional content and/or functionality it adds for this mod. The plugins that are then merged into a single plugin can then be deactivated. Don't uninstall (NMM, Wrye) or deactivate (MO) the mods that are now merged as you may then miss assets (armor meshes and/or textures).
Androktone Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 From my experience: Â 1.The limit is 255 ESM/ESPs. 2. MO lets you activate 256 and more but it will screw your game up.
CGi Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 256 - 1 (Base 0) = 255 - 1 (reserved [FF]) = 254. This is the latest (somewhat stable) plugin index, as 255 may lead to problems with scripts, no matter if the last plugin (pos. 255) has scripts or not.
Androktone Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I wrote "255 ESM/ESPs". Three times I reached that limit -- had no problems.
CGi Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Yes, i've read that and i pointed out a possible problem that may arise if you use the max limit. What works for you, does not neccesarily work for others and going as fail-safe as possible is always the better choice.
