Bodyslide Outfit Studio Skin Texture Bug

Recommended Posts

I'm currently trying out Wabbajack and installed the NGVO mod pack to cut down on finding mods for hours on end, and instead just use an existing mod pack that I like and edit it from there. I'm trying to get Bodyslide to work properly and this modpack already has CBBE, 3BA, CBBE skin textures, etc. but when I try and edit the body and check the preview I get the image attached.

I already know that Bodyslide is using the wrong skin texture, and i have already put the game path to the Data folder of skyrim so I have no clue as to why this is happening. I already tried it using a different mod pack and the same result happens. I know I'm using a modpack so I understand if that might be the issue here, but i see alot of other people using modpacks from wabbajack yet not having an issue like this with bodyslide.

I have checked everywhere for a solution and i havent found out one. I have not edited the NGVO modlist whatsoever, and have started the game once to see if that would have fixed it but to no avail.

any thoughts on how to fix this?

It's not a "bug."  You haven't installed CBBE-compatible textures.  Default and UNP-based bodies have the same UV map.  CBBE-family bodies use a different UV map.  You must install CBBE-compatible textures if you're using a CBBE-based body or you will get this result.  Afterward, make sure Outfit Studio is pathing to the correct textures.

That looks like vanilla skin on CBBE body.

Yeah I figured it was, i either thought it was vanilla skin or unp skin on cbbe

I do have CBBE compatible textures installed though. Like I said, the modpack I installed uses CBBE-compatible textures called tempered skins for cbbe. I'm still unsure as to why it's using the vanilla skin. Hence why I said bug because I don't think this is suppose to happen.

Like I said, you need to configure Outfit Studio to use the proper textures.  If you don't take the time to learn how to use Outfit Studio and change this setting it will use default paths to textures in the default BSA files, meaning it will path to textures that are incompatible with CBBE UV map textures.  This is not a bug.  You have not properly configured the tools to use the textures installed by the modpack you have chosen to install.

Okay I think I'm understanding what you're saying.

Basically, I need to personally setup the textures on Outfit Studio, not Bodyslide correct? Strange that the modpack doesn't do that itself but I suppose it's because it's a modpack and it's just something everyone needs to do in order to mess with bodyslide.

If it isn't too much trouble, is it possible you could tell me a brief rundown on how to do it or lead me to a good youtube video that explains how to do it? I haven't dabbled in Outfit Studio too much after my years of modding and I just started to get back into it after 3 years so my old ass needs to catch up a bit lol. Thanks in advance

Are you using Mod Organizer? If so, you have to launch BodySlide from within MO, or it won't be able to load everything properly.

Yeah i launch it from within MO, which is why it's a bit strange, but I have seen many people that have struggled with this in other forums and reddit posts so I'm hoping I can get a concrete answer and fix so others can see this because so many people are starting to use Wabbajack to install a base modlist and edit it from there.

Nah, I never bothered with that. I simply use the textures that came with 3BA, only had to delete the ones that came with the Total Character Makeover.

No.

If you are using MO2 there is an extra step required when setting up BS. See Youtube for further details.

This should taken up with whoever put the collection together.

Do you think reinstalling bodyslide would fix it? And what extra step is required? I can't really seem to find anything when I search it up besides making sure that the game path for bodyslide is set to the data folder of the main skyim folder.

omfg I figured it out. I feel absolutely stupid, but if anyone is using wabbajack for the first time and is struggling with any sort of game pathing like bodyslide, it's because Wabbajack creates it's own installation of Skyrim and you set it to the data folder in there under (X:\Modlist You Installed\Stock Game\Data)

I had no idea that wabbajack used it's own instance of Skyrim and I was able to fix this issue. Appreciated the help regardless!
