Hello, I am Yuri (this is not my real name).

I am part of a team of four that seek to safeguard internet smut (art) from the iconoclastic crusade upon which the reactionary puritan elements across all levels of society have embarked on.

 

In just a few short months, several major websites have been taken down, with many works of art forever lost as a result.
These forces of evil collude not just with hosts and internet providers, but they also work with DNS providers to ensure that even remote servers in safe regions are wiped off the internet.

 

We found this unacceptable, and as such we put together what little money we had and bought a high capacity computer disk (which cost more than our combined rent). It is impossible to stop a website from becoming entirely inaccessible if a DNS deems it so, nor can it be saved from destruction if the host destroys the physical data. But if an off-site backup exists, then there can always be a new start once the storm has passed! After all, reactionary forces are fickle and fall into bickering and disunity once they run out of targets.
Our backup is our Buyan, our Noah's Ark for smut. The waters will one day recede, and re-building will start again so long as one of us has copies.

 

Each of us have a field that we are focusing on, and I, as the one with the greatest prose in English, I am in charge of anything that involves forums, as well as games. I have already backed up 50 gigabytes of Flash games, and many terabytes of asian erotic games. Now the time has come for game mods, and my research has led me here, a little cove in the internet where rare and endangered works of art are stored, works of art which we wish to help preserve.

 

Our goal is not to scrape this website, nor is it to cause any increased server load to the host. We will work by hand to back up the most important and endangered of works, and we will do so to the benefit of Lover's Lab, as in the unlikely event that they too become a target, we will cooperate with them to re-seed the site once the attack is over. We're offering to give our effort and our disk space for the safekeeping of vital data to this site.

 

This was my post to introduce myself, our team, our project, and say 'hi'. Once this account has the ability to make forum posts, I will make one asking for the help of people here, because I myself don't really play many video games (I have never played Skyrim either, only the original Fallout), I will call upon the experts and the good kinded souls of this forum to guide me, to know what, why, and how to backup. Because art is worth preserving, and it is not until all of it is gone and you're left picking at ashes, that you realize how much it mattered.

Hello and welcome to you, a good first step would be to ask @Ashal permission since they are the owner of this site, at least that would be my first step.

Not sure why someone thinks you need permission to download mods the way everyone else in the world can. Or permission to send PMs to other users asking their opinions on various mods.

Because, to me it looked like saving more info than just mods.

If you can save and restore a website complete with mods, categories and such.......

I am unaware with the customs of this community, but I wish to be respectful of them and of the people here. Our mission is impossible to accomplish without first being in the good graces of the members of this community. I will go to great efforts to establish good relations with the people of this community, as I need their help if I am to make any progress. If custom dictates that I ask Ashal for permission, then it is what I shall do. I have not yet attained a reply.

Every online community is different in culture and customs, that much I have learned.

Not quite, as much as I would like to be able to fully copy this website, I have tried to make it clear that I am not here to indiscriminately scrape data as if I were a bot. I only plan on saving mods, whatever dependencies they may have, and any documentation necessary to understand them (usually a copy of the mod page). With that said, that information alone would go a long way into restoring the website if it were ever taken down. Though of course, we lack the space to save every mod. That's why I will eventually ask for help from this community, to learn which mods are most important to preserve.

Also, hello everyone else! I'm a wannabe artist & author- heavy emphasis on "wannabe" since I've been stalling on making/posting anything for the past decade. The fear of trying to be a creative paralyzes me every waking moment of the day, and social media has only gotten more unappealing as time goes on. So, I fill my days with modding the Sims4 & Palworld instead.

Additionally, I'm a huge fan of Pokemon & Anime/manga ^^ My favorite genres range from psychological horror and thrillers like Fire Punch + Homunculus, to slice-of-life fantasy like Mob Psycho 100 and Land of the Lustrous. I also love romance mangas- Kitchen Princess was my first ever manga, and Monotone Blue was the most recent one I read ^_^
I'm currently reading: Chainsawman, Dorohedoro, Witch Hat Atlier, Jujutsu Kaisen, Shadow House, Fool Night, Sanda, and The Summer Hikaru Died.
