Skyrim Chain Beasts SE/AE/VR

Can i please ask for little hint about Mephala aspect? Full of spiders are Redbelly mine, where i found dark X-cross belonging to CB, but nothing happened. I also tried White Ridge Barrow (probably not there, bc it is a part of Dragonborn, right?), Cronvangr Cave and Ironbind Barrow, without success.

Am i wrong in locations, or some other glitch? (I have arachnophpobia in load order?)

Tried to read blogs/walkthrougs and search LE topic, but nothing there :(

Thank you. I have tried current save, there was no letter from ... person you mentioned, but if i remember, i got inheritance letter before and this person was not alive.

 

So i tried old save from Redbelly mine, and after 2 days i really got expected letter. If i checked mentioned person, he really had not essential flag after quest, so probably some vampire attack messed things.

 

(I don't know logic, what exactly triggers sending letter, so maybe reason was that i first cleaned up whole mine, and then asked .... for quest (with "i already cleared mine"))

logic: Each time a chain beast events happens that might give an `achievement' (which is lots of them) it is checked whether that vanilla quest has been completed. If so a letter is sent via courier.

If that person is dead, well yes that would make it hard to talk to them I guess...that will needs some work around; option if dead or forcing essential until no longer needed, or a combination... atm only option is to skip ("why do I have to do all the work") in that case.

The current version, SkyrimChainBeastsV098QF2-Full-SE.7z  is a `full version' in that is a single self contained file including everything except voice files.

If you mean of the next version for which there was the sneak preview (v0.9.9) then I don't know, but busy rebuilding development system and with RL, so likely not very soon.

been getting a error during the mara quest where the game freezes when having pheramone sex, eveything else works fine so far, any ideas what may cause this, im on AE and use SLP+ if that helps, cheers

Hello! First of all, love this mod! Keeps exploring the wastelands of Skyrim... "interesting."

 

I seem to be having a problem with custom race support. I'm using a succubus race (from https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/80089)

 

However, I'm running into issues with the mask... Whenever I'm equipped with the mask, it uses an alternate model that clips into my characters face in a weird way. I've tried all sorts of combinations using the default mask for custom races options in the MCM debug, but nothing seems to work. I've ensured that the custom race is added to the dropdown list, but no matter what I try, it never uses the model that it uses on NPCs. If there are any fixes beyond just fiddling around with that setting in the MCM, I'd greatly appreciate any advice!

That should work so first a quick checklist of the steps to take:

1) Register the player's race as a custom race using the option in the MCM.
2) Enable the `no-alternate-model-on-custom-race' setting in MCM.
3) Get equipped with a NEW mask AFTER doing step 1,2.
It will only affect new masks, not ones already in your inventory.
(It predates fancy model swapping shenanigans that may now be possible with skse plugins, so it just gives you a different piece of armor depending on these settings.  If you use AIM/Modex/console/... you'll see two copies of each mask. Grabbing both and testing them should show that one uses the `alternate' masks and the other not.)

No idea, have run on SE and AE (640, 1170) fine so given this info all I can say is maybe related to SLP+ though all I use is use the standard SL api calls - quickstart / startsex, so that should also work with SLP+ afaik.

Perhaps others can comment if they use the mod together with SLP+.

Eg if you `seduce' a black smith (option availability may have conditions) to help you out of restraints, or the `caged quest' (can quick start to test in skip menu).

Is there some sort of immortality script that gets attached to the PC during an event?  I'm getting a bug where my PC ends up immortal, can't die, can't drown, etc.  The only fix is to reload an earlier save.  I thought this was due to my defeat mods but I'm not so sure anymore.  Anyways, not blaming Chain Beasts, just curious and trying to track down the issue.

 

One bug report, but not really, kinda funny interaction.  But in Sheogorath's quest where you have to wake young Pelagius, the spawned treasure chest is actually lootable if you have chain beast mimics installed!  Normal vanilla you can't activate it.  I just thought that was a neat interaction.

Not by SCB, some hostility management by factions, but no other protection for the PC is added by this mod.

Odd, MM should leave chests alone if they're already marked as `activation blocked'. Maybe it's done by a script and MM gets there first, or maybe that check disappeared when fixing other bugs... In any case loot responsibly ;)

Pretty sure it is chain beasts, seems to do something really weird, like change what your location is? I noticed it at first because I would try to summon something and the creature just would not spawn. Only way I could fix the issue was to recycleactor on the PC character.

Seems unlikely.  Does ZAP + DD work fine?

SCB itself does not have overly many animations; 5 alternate (movement) animation sets and 16 other new animation. I've read in FNIS that there is a limited number of `alternate animation sets' but I don't think SCB+DD alone would get anywhere near that. 

Have had (ZAP+)SCB+DD running in both LE and SE (and even tested with ZAPv9 thrown in the mix, so those by themselves do not seem to reach any animation limits.)

 

So all I can recommend is to check the basics;

Make sure you have an `animation limit fix' mod installed.

Check for any FNIS warnings, is right version of each of the files used.

If you're rerunning FNIS you likely updated something; not accidentally activated a plugin for which you do not have the requirements (missing masters)...

(To be safe do not to use the `esl' versions of the plugins as VR does not support them afaik, though it may just ignore the flag in which case it should not be a problem.) 

 

If you ARE running into animation limits you could consider trying Open Animation Replacer (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/92109) and DD NG.

It really shouldn't be possible to go over the animation limit anymore.  I've also installed every animation I could find and used them successfully in VR, which includes ZAP, DD etc.   That said, asking SexLab to filter though thousands of animations was slowing down sex scenes to a noticable degree so unless your computer is a beast, I would exercise restraint when adding additional SLAL packs.

 

If you've tested things with and without FNIS output and you're sure FNIS is the culprit, have you tried deleting your FNIS output folder then regenerating your animations?  I've had an issue before where newly generated animations were not replacing the old ones correctly and causing issue with T-posing trolls in my game.  Problem solved by deleting the folder completely before running FNIS.

Thank you very much for your reply. Yes, deleting the folder before updating FNIS seemed to help, and I was able to launch the game. I can't say yet whether the mod works because I'm still in the starting village (until I get all the mods I'm interested in working), but the fact that the game has already launched is a victory. Thank you.
And two more questions, if I may: 1) Does the mod conflict with other mods that add NPCs to the level list? For example (OBIS and OBIS Masculinized Leveled List). 2) There's a patch for the SLUTS mod, but will the patch and the mod itself work in Skyrim VR, or is it only for the SE version, and I'm wasting my time trying to get them to work?

1) By the name I'd guess OBIS adds to other lists that SCB does. Even if they add to the same lists conflicts are unlikely;  SCB only adds things dynamically (by script), anything statically changing those list will be fully compatible. Obviously more options means `wild' CBs occur less if other mods add many things to the predator lists. 

 

2) The patch should be fine, only does basic vanilla stuff.  Whether there is a version of SLUTS that runs (well) on VR I have no idea.

If by `the mod itself' you mean SCB:  Afaik SCB works in VR except a workaround may be needed for PC captured outcome; a report said `struggling in device' mini-game not working; needed to use MCM to end player punishment (force release).  (I have no way to test this...).

OAR does not require SkyrimSE.exe.  It's NG (Next Generation) and works for all versions of the game.  It doesn't even have a FOMOD for options so I'm not sure how you might have installed it incorrectly.  It also very clearly says VR compatible on the mod page.

 

But one thing to note though is that some NG mods will not necessarily work in VR.  The dll will load, but will other wise not work properly in game.  So when installing mods for VR make sure any NG mods also specifically say they are VR compatible.

I think either some of the already installed mods are outdated and causing a conflict. But I'm afraid that if I start updating everything, I'll break what's already working.

There is a condition for it to start / appear in the skip menu.

Have a thorough understanding of CB mines (Be able to summon mines. (*))  How to obtain:

Complete the Beauty and the Chain Beast quest.

(*) Using the skip menu to just get the spell(tome) does not satisfy this condition as the actual check is that this quest is completed. Skipping this quest in the skip menu does work.

 

Once that is satisfied the following sequence of actions will start the quest (or you can use the skip menu to start it):

Looks like an issue with your skse setup/address library/plugins/logs... Can't really help with that; if ensuring you've got the right VR version of SKSE itself and all plugins and cleaning any remnant of older versions does not help then try in skse (VR) specific topics.

Do you have Address Library for VR installed?  OAR;s mod requirements list Address Library for SE/AE but you'll need the VR version if you're using VR.

MTB, loving the mod - thank you for creating/maintaining!

 

Anyone know if the mobile beast (just have solo atm) is supposed to kill it's target? I don't see it trapping anything or way to ride it. I briefly see the little crab defenders pop up just before targets die, but mobile keeps trunking away at targets until dead.

 

Edit: did a self test from the mcm and that worked fine. Maybe the targets were just too low level? Were a few below my character at the location I tried mobile at.

Edit2: found an enemy that outlevelled me by 10 and that worked. So assuming is just a use on beefy targets spell.
