Question for the computer gurus

I want to transfer my game to a new computer it is on my cdrive as most are. What would I have to copy as there is a file in documents as well not sure why the computer puts them there but it is. My current game is under steam, steam apps, common do I copy the whole thing or just my Skyrim in the common folder?

My recent experience was the files transferred automatically.  But I did have both computers on and near each other.

I am not a Guru. Haven't really worked on a computer in a few decades.

Should work if you just transfer just the Steam file.

Good luck

.../steamapps/common/Skyrim (or Skyrim Special Edition) is your game install.

.../Documents/My Games/Skyrim (or Skyrim Special Edition) is your save files.

Copy both, place them in the same location in your new computer. This is assuming you want to keep the same location, if you want to change partition or different install folder for Steam adjust accordingly.

Also you may need to move additional (or less) folders depending on your mod manager of choice (for example for MO2 I'd only worry about taking my portalbe instance, reinstall the game in the other computer and route my portable instance to use that new install, for Vortex or NMM you may want to look into where are your installed mods and downloads, as well as the actual program's installed files in case you have other information like Vortex/NMM profiles and such).
