Loading Fade when starting SexLab scene.

I'm having an issue. When starting a scene in SexLab, just before my character is teleported, my screen gets a short fade to black. This occurs every time my character and the other actor is positioning.

Any fix for this?

Isn't there a fade to black option in SL's MCM?

There is, but it's not that kind of fade. It's set to Never.

This is kinda like the character goes through a short loading screen, everytime a teleport happens during lining-up for animations.

So like entering through a door, say from the Whiterun market to the Bannered Mare. That's probably because the teleport actually triggers that; it reloads the surrounding area. I believe that's the same reason why grass disappears temporarily at the start of a scene. In that case the reason why you get a fade out-fade in is that the surrounding area is busy enough to warrant a small load screen, i.e. reduce texture sizes and the overall complexity of the area and the issue may go away.

Should be easy to test: Start a scene in a simple cell like one of the Review Studios and see if the problem persists.

Also it could be you're on the threshold of getting sent to the center of the cell, as in, you get sent to the center then back to the SL scene marker. This would definitely trigger a load screen. I personally believe this is a Papyrus performance thing, some say it isn't.

If I'm not mistaken, there's a config value (or similar) that defines how far you can teleport without a load screen. I'm trying to find it now.

Edit: The downside of increasing such a config value would obviously be things like pop-in and other related issues.

I tried doing it in a simple interior cell, but it still persists. The moment my character triggers undressing, the "Loadscreen" appears briefly. In the meantime, the other character has been teleported to the scene, and once they start aligning, another "Loadscreen" pops in. The "Loadscreen" does this a few times, untill the animations start.

I'd be happy to try adjusting the configs.

Can't find it.

Only thing I found that for some reason looked familiar was fDistanceFadeActorAutoLoadDoor, but I just tried increasing it from 150 (default) to 32000 and leaving Faendal's house exiting into Riverwood and still got a load screen. Not sure if changing cells like this will always trigger a load screen (would make sense), how the distance is calculated and/or if Faendal's house is considered to be further away from Riverwood than the value I set. Perhaps play around with it, see what it changes/breaks/fixes. There's no documentation on these things so you're kinda on your own there.

Pretty much only thing I can suggest in regards to this config value is to Google it. It may be impossible to find as I'm quite sure last time I saw this was perhaps a decade ago in pre-LE Skyrim.

Edit: oh and since that's a hidden Game Setting, its adjusted with setgs. You can query the current value with getgs.

Aw, allright.

Pretty sure changing cells will always trigger a loading screen. The issue here is that i'm technically not changing cells. Just position within the cell.

I'll see if i can figure this out.

Thank you for your help, traison.

This is different. It's just a black screen for a second or two.

I'm not playing Skyrim these days but I started getting it for some reason I never really tried to find. There wasn't any obvious reason like I'd just updated a mod or installed a new mod although it probably was but with a few days between doing the update or new mod and triggering a sex animation. Not something I can recall happening in the LE days.

Edit: Something in the back of my mind is saying Pandora. I'm using Pandora v1.5.1a - not sure if that was the latest back then.

Are you saying Pandora might be the reason? I'm running Pandora.

It was the only thing I could think of off the top of my head. I had/have no idea when I upgraded Pandora to v1.5.1 in relation to the black screen appearing so I may be barking up the wrong tree.

Hmm. I'll have to investigate further.

I was running the Lorerim modlist, and i wanted to spice it up with some SL stuff.

Maybe i should try to keep Nemesis, and run it with FNIS for creatures.

Hi, I think I might've found the problem. I had Capture Warmer (Dynamic Cubemaps) installed for a while now, but after removing it, it seems that the issue stopped. Can anyone else try and see if this also fixes the problem for them?

Thanks for sharing that!
Had that same blackscreen issue and disabling this mod fixed it.
