Final fantasy 8 finally released of steam !!

So if you didn't guess from the title, final fantasy 8 has been released on steam (at long last)

If you haven't played the ps1 version i seriously suggest picking this title up.

 

Its a truely awesome game, and you all need to play it, people that have played it know what i'm talking about.

What's the difference between this version and the PS1/pc version? Is it simply a copy/paste from the old pc version?

yeah.. I just saw it on steam a few hours ago,

well, at least this version have a built in chocobo world. (not like in the ps1 where you must have pocket station)

There was a mod that I had found a few years ago that allowed you to replace the default music of the game with the orchestral versions that have been released for the final fantasy tours they've been doing. It was epic.

I hope they end up releasing all the way up the series. I liked this better than 7, but I still don't think any of these games could compare to chrono cross. Square needs to get their shit together and release games besides ff on steam. I want einhander on steam.

Own the original PS1 version one sealed and the other opened. Have it on my PSP and then seen this. Checked out about 10 videos and seen they smoothed out the graphics in some areas but one thing I hate that they did was alter the music. Now it sounds horrible. I prefer the original soundtrack over the steam version.

 

To me music is the soul of a game. If the music in a game sucks it will hallow out the gaming experience.

I've got it and the cut scenes seem to have been made "HD" but the actual game play world is still low quality and you have to play it in 800x600 or 1280x800 or else it really looks like shit I.e. HIGHLY pixelated which sucks when you have a large monitor like I do.

 

P.s. The funny thing is it can go all the way up to 1920x1080 but DAMN does it look bad at the setting.

I could not agree more. One of the reason i don't much enjoy Kingdoms of Amalur. Worse combat music than FFX :hehe:

LOL, I think you're probably one of the only people in the world who thinks FF9 was the Best FF game. FF7 was good, FF8 had a good story, FF9 was OK can't get past the fact the MC was a short monkey boy, and FF10-14 were all garbage.

No, there are many others. But like people who like Dragon Age 2 or Mass Effect 3's ending, we keep to ourselves

 

And Zidane had more personality than Cloud and Squall combined. 8 Does have some awesome cinematics though.

The last good FF was ff10 for me... with 6, 7, 8 and 9 being awesome too

Cloud was an oddity, Squall took brooding to a whole new level to be honest. FF8 did have some damn good Cinematics for sure the space scene was kind of my favorite.

 

Edit: I didn't like 10 because of the ending that they had to make a whole other game to correct and they still fucked up when you had to get 100% completion to get the good ending in X-2

I really loved 8, cause squall is my favourite FF character.

IMO FF6 is the best, awesome story, great characters.

10 had a strong ending, never finished 7 but did play crisis core and it was so good.

13 was my first so twas all uphill , 13-2 was fun too, loved Caius too much.

Still have to play 9, also played the shit out of dissidia duodecim.

this FF series talk remind me of these games... I played FF 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,X-2,12, and tactics. My favorite was FF 8.

I only beat FF 7... FF 8 stuck at Ultimecia castle (fu**ing tonberry..)

There are many side quest in the FF 8 though, like meeting an UFO..

This is a world where people can be resurrected via potions and magic....somehow the death idea just doesn't fly. especially when you consider that he was hit in the upper right shoulder there isn't really anything vital there short of maybe nicking an artery a hit there wouldn't be fetal unless you were left to bleed out.

now that makes sense... why did aerith die? why didn't cloud just use his phoenix down? But.. but... the story gonna be different then isn't it....

But seriously, squaresoft really like to kill the character. If I remember correctly, only in FF 8,9,10 (except that sad farewell...) and FF 12 that the character/his friends is alive...
