Sexlab: Failed to Add Actor -- Unable to Fill Actor Alias

Recommended Posts

I know I'm not the only one who's run into this error before, as I've seen some other posts here with similar issues. I've read as many of them as I can find, and for the life of me I can't sort this issue out.

Every time I try to start a sexlab scene (through other mods or through the debug spells in SL), I run into the following messages in the log:

  • NOTICE: ValidateActor(ActorName) -- TRUE -- MISS
  • SEXLAB - FATAL - Thread[0] AddActor(ActorName) - Failed to add actor -- They were unable to fill an actor alias

I have the following sexlab mods, among others (full modlist included):

  • Sexlab v1.63
  • Sexlab p+ v1.8.2.3
  • Sexlab Separate Orgasm (and the patch I found for p+ in the forums)

I have done the following in an attempt to bypass the problem:

  • Resetting my animation registry
  • Cleaning sexlab in the "Rebuild and Clean" section of the Sexlab MCM
  • Disabling Separate Orgasm in a new, clean save game
  • Disabling p+ in a new, clean save game

Nothing has worked. When I cast the debug spell to start a scene, my character doesn't even lower their hands. It just goes straight to the error message.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

don't use the debug spells, they are not for end users. get & use matchmaker.

and make sure you hit the install button in sexlab's mcm.

I tried installing Matchmaker and using its included spells. I get the message "The spell fizzles out and fails to affect (Playername)" Checking the console reveals the same error "Thread[0] AddActor(ActorName) - Failed to add actor -- They were unable to fill an actor alias."

Yes, I make sure to hit "install" in sexlab's mcm before testing animations. I still don't see animations play.

Did animations ever work or did you install a trillions before testing?

I had Sexlab v1.63 working on other playthroughs, but I created a new modlist to upgrade to p+. Even now, I'm only showing around 150 human animations and around 50 creature animations.

Wrong section, BTW.

My bad, which section should this go in?

The one for the version of Skyrim you are using.

My advice would be to start a new game with the bare minimum of mods to do sex animations and go from there. Trying to do any sort of troubleshooting with a trillion mods is insanity.

Does FNIS give any warnings?

No warnings from FNIS. I use Nemesis in conjunction so I can get modern combat frameworks like MCO, and I've had this setup work just fine on previous playthroughs.

I was afraid you would say that, but at this point I have to admit you're right. I'll start with the bare minimum and see what I can find.

Update: removing Sexlab p+ got my animations working again. Maybe it was just the fact that I'm on Skyrim version 1.5.97, but once I got rid of that mod, everything worked perfectly. I managed to rollback the version in my current playthrough and animations started playing as usual.

It seems that even the 'Latest' version of Sexlab p+ doesn't work with my setup, even when the only other mods were sexlab and their requirements. Guess I'll stick to 1.63 for now. Will leave this post open in case anyone else runs into the same issue.

Sexlab p+

yea i'm not a fan of that p+ thing, so far i have not seen any good come from people using it.

as far as i'm concerned Papyrus Tweaks NG is still the better option.
