Bit of Help Making a Standalone Follower

Hiya,

I've been playing around with the Creation Kit and Followers for about a Month now just to get an idea of what to do. Now that I'm ready to start moving on to more complicated things.. I've run into a slight problem. There are no guides that I can find about making a Standalone Follower with custom armour and races. I've been using the guides found here and here for what I've been doing so far.

So how would I go around to making it so that the Follower herself has the custom race (example only: Monli or Ashen) that I want without depending on having the mod downloaded? What about the clothes/armour that she could show up in as a default outfit on the CK? Are there any guides that I can follow step by step until I'm comfortable enough to do it without them?

Any help would be much appreciated. All my Followers are and will be Private (which is why I want them all standalone).

This is the best guide I found about making custom followers:

Good luck!

Edit: This is for the various aspects of the follower behavior, not the custom skin or armor.

If you make a duplicate of a race and work your way down from one dependency to the next, you will find something like:

- An NPC has a Race, a Voice Type and a Face

- A Race has a Skin

- A Skin is in fact an Armor, which in turn is made of Armor Addons (Body, Hands, Feet)

- Each Armor Addon points to the Nif file of the mesh (and an optional texture to override the texture of the mesh)

A couple of pitfalls:

- Follower dialogues are controlled by quests, with filters on Voice Types using form lists. If you create a custom voice type, you will have to create your own dialogue quest controller so that it can support your voice type.

- When you create new skins and armors for a race, make sure to pay attention to the Armor morph and body morph settings in your Race

- When you edit armor and armor addons, make sure that they include your custom race in the list of checked races.
