InfiniteRequiem
I have tried to use many of the mannequin replacer mods to look like either my own player character, editable race and sex types, or even to female looking ugly brown. My problem is that any installation of a mannequin mod causes my game to CTD (crash to desktop) on any save game that I try to load. The strangest things that happens is that when I disable the mod, the problem still persists until I actually delete the mod itself. That blew my mind the first time it happened but it is completely reproducible for me. I consider that my secondary question. How is it possible for a mod to cause CTDs when the files aren't even activated? (using NMM or Steam Data Loader). If anyone knows of a list of incompatible mods for mannequin mods, please let me know and I'll check that out first. I've tried a few that I suspected may be incompatible but have had no luck. Full test steps - - Opening different save game files with mod installed and active to see if location made a difference - tested a save game without the mod installed and again with mod installed but not activated (works fine) - tested the same save game with mod installed (CTD on save game load, after about 5s on load screen) - tested the same save game after deactivating mod (CTD on save game load, ~5s on load screen) - tested the same save game after uninstalling the already deactivated mod (game works fine) - attempted to install 3 different mannequin mods using the above steps, so it's not isolated to any one mod A few basic things about my current setup - using SKSE (for SkyUI, iHud etc) - using Unofficial Skyrim Patch (which adjusts mannequin properties but no CTD issues found in bug list) - not currently using any other mods that I know modify mannequins - using BOSS to configure my load order - using Steam launcher to load SKSE_launcher to load Skyrim through an ini loader - have about 40 esm and esp files in my load order, BOSS run before and after install of each mannequin mod Mods I attempted using - All body mods compatible Female mannequin - Mannequins look like you - MLLY - Pretty Male and Female Mannequins Thanks for any help you may be able to offer. foreveraloneguy
Mannequin mods usually replace the associated scripts. These scripts are what cause the CTDs. I have the same problems, though it's usually only trying to enter certain cells that causes it. I gave up. Link to comment
Groovtama
A mannequin replacer normally does not need/replace any script because there are non attached normally. (I think a mod you posted (MLLY) uses a script to copy the PC data into the NPC but that's a different story) The Mannequin (Vanilla) or the three Mannequins (Vanilla + Hearthfire) just need something like a simple NPC replacer. You just need to replace the stuff that is in the mannequin NPC entry with other stuff, generate face, boom done. Reason your are CTDing is probably the assests or esp you use is wrong. Skeleton files or wrong flags, shaders in the body files, wrong paths etc. Link to comment
InfiniteRequiem
Mannequin mods usually replace the associated scripts. These scripts are what cause the CTDs. I have the same problems, though it's usually only trying to enter certain cells that causes it. I gave up. I went into the data folder of the mods being installed and checked to see what files were being added. None of the mods I tried had anything in the script folder. Also, is it just a known problem that the scripts installed with mannequin mods cause CTDs or are you saying that scripts in general are the 'usual' cause of crashes? Link to comment

Skeleton files or wrong flags, shaders in the body files, wrong paths etc. I'm not sure what 'The Mannequin' or 'the three Mannequins' are but if custom mannequins in mod player homes don't fall under those then this won't work for me. I've been modding for quite a while but I also don't understand what you mean by 'replace the stuff that is in the mannequin NPC entry with other stuff, generate face'. I'm not a mod creator, I just use mods. I understand how to generate face data for a specific NPC but what 'other stuff' would you be referring to. That's a bit unclear to me. I'd need a bit more clarification on 'probably the assets or esp is wrong'. As these are mods I downloaded and other people say they are working for them. I double checked that the mod file structure is correct for loading them through NMM. There aren't options packed away into a single folder install package or anything like that. A package that I download wouldn't likely have wrong assets. Or am I misunderstanding? Please let me know. Thanks for the quick responses people. Link to comment
InfiniteRequiem
Oops, the original reported error is incorrect. It appears that I've reached a critical mass for mods. My current configuration only allows for the number of mods I have currently. Trying to add one more mod of any kind is causing a CTD. Not just mannequin specific mods. Sorry for misleading anyone who tried to help me. This doesn't solve my problem but it forces me to entirely shift my research. So I'll research and add comments here if I find a solution. Otherwise I'll see about deleting this thread as irrelevant. Link to comment
InfiniteRequiem
Well that was a fun trip. Turns out the problem was that each time I tried to install either MLLY or All Mods Compatible Mannequin replacer, it was adding a second Skyrim.esm to my plugins.txt (ini) file. Oddly, I've heard that this error gives a window which normally says "WETriggerScript 01099883". This message was being hidden on a game load but was apparent when trying to start a new game. This led me to a help page that said to solve the "WETriggerScript 01099883" error, all you need to do is open your plugins.txt(ini) file and remove the second skyrim.esm from the top of the list. Will test fully at a later time to see if the mods will work after installing them and then removing the skyrim.esm file but for now I've confirmed that the game will at least run after making this fix. Sorry for the misdiagnosis. Carry on sexy gaming. Link to comment
