storm55 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I'm just looking for some high quality armor, and weapons for my game, I've looked through 15-20 pages on Nexus multiple times, and came up empty for all of them. They either looked like abominations in screenshots, or just didn't match the game whatsoever. Any immersive armor sets (in your opinion), or weapons? I have one weapon mod that I liked so far but I haven't finished the quest for the weapon.
Poontank Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 When it comes to more or less lore-friendly and 'realistic' blades (as opposed to JRPG 'Buster Sword'-type weapons which I also love), my favourite modeler is JaySus. Waalx's 'Real Swords' collection, part of his WAC/'The Chronicles Of Steel' mod, is also very good. His Nesux name was Walx (he is inactive by now), the 'Real Swords' are available as standalone packs under his files tab. As for armor it's difficult to recommend specific gear. You probably mean non-skimpy full body armors? Female or male? Here are two examples for such armors I consider kinda lore-friendly, 'Plate Armor Plus' and 'Black Plate Armor'. The former is a remodel, the latter 'only' a retexture.

Poontank Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Coincidentally last night I ran into the curvaceous version of the black-red ('Damascus') Plate Armor Plus when I looked through Trashdog's files. Normally such completely un-skimpy armors aren't my thing but I decided to give this one to a suitable NPC. Irene Metrick or someone like that. She is said to be able to do amazing things with a blunt weapon... So how about these axes by Snusmumriken's partner? Another blunt weapon I love is this 'Kanabou'.

Thats what I'd recommend for weapons, and it's actually really fun to only wield your races weapons. For realistic magical weapons i'd recommend the blade of the haunted mod, it's got a fun quest and the sword you get in it is really cool looking but doesn't look exceedingly fantastical, it's not a katana, it's not a bfs, it doesn't have a bunch of flanges or barbs or crap, it looks like a bastard sword or a long sword (depending on how you customize it, did I mention it's customizable? You can choose some of its properties and whether its one handed or two handed) it's a pretty cool sword Depending on what gender your looking for I would recommend room 207's body builder armor, most of what there is looks awesome I'd actually have to say that his iron armor is probably the best looking male vanilla armor I've seen. his glass armor on the other hand...I believe belly shirts on guys stand for everything that's wrong with the world. Also at the moment room 207 has only put out iron, steel, fur and the glass belly shirt are all he's got for the vanilla armor. Blade of the haunted: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/33089//? Poontank Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Hehe, what's wrong with male belly shirt armor? Heroes and bandits alike also love to flash some skin every now and then. Go ahead and tell Valesti he's a 'sissy-boyo'... I agree, bodybuilder armors are incredibly badass. Not only Room207's remodels but also the ones by JohnyAlvez. The fur armor linked aboved is his work. Here is his version of the Mithril armor. It is also quite revealing but very well done. Gotta love Johny's rugged character with his cool custom beard! 'Blade Of The Haunted' looks like a promising quest. One day I've got to give it a try, not just for the weapon but to enjoy a new adventure mod.

No I know all about the mithril dicky that johnyalvez made I didn't mention it for a reason. Room 207's armor might be a stupid belly shirt but at least you could get away with that in some anime, hell I was willing to accept haseo from .hack GU even though he started the game with a belly shirt (he got better he got better) but I draw the line at mithril dicky it doesn't even have a chest it just has shoulders. And I'm not even going to mention room 207s other iron and steel armor replacer. I have to draw the line somewhere. Also (back to you storm) your going to have a hard time if your looking for female armor that isn't skimpy your best bet is sadly the vanilla armor but if that doesn't do it for you I believe elaquimista is currently working on something thats less vanilla but doesn't show as much skin. Also it should be mentioned that the curvaceous body has some armors that show less skin than most other mods and tgnd armors are even more so. Keep in mind tgnd has small breasts and a small but going more towards a young teenager looka where as curvaceous goes the opposite and ranges from has some nice curves to has some some nice curves and some pudge (the pudge has bb too!) Out of the two I'd recommend curvaceous as most tgnd armors are just remodels with a smaller bust and tgnd is just to close to what I remember from the beginning of my days in middle school for my taste. gregathit Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 If you are going TGND then look no further than Lovers Lab: http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/253-tgnd-body-replacer/ and for the armors: http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/351-nessas-tgnd-stores/ Nessa has done some OUTSTANDING work with the TGND bodies and armor! You have to see it to believe it! So what are you waiting for!!!!
Poontank Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I have to draw the line somewhere. Something tells me you aren't using male equipment by Slof... 'Skimpy' male armor is a staple of the barbarian-styled warrior archetype. Tin-can suits I've always considered very clunky. Protection has never been such an important factor to me in a Fantasy setting that abounds with healing and offensive magic, restorative potions and shielding powers.

I just happen to think that large armor looks pretty cool, and my problem with the male midriff shirt is that if a guy is going to wear one he might as well not wear a shirt at all. Personally I think room 207's northern lich is pretty nice looking and johnnyalvez's mithril armor could have looked good if he got rid of the stupid dicky collar piece and just kept the shoulders...possibly with some leather strapping across the chest and back.
Poontank Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 That's a pretty good idea! I do agree on the collar piece, it has a kind of 'Mithril necktie' vibe to it. Crossing leather straps would make the armor more interesting for sure, they would match the pauldrons' arm straps. Maybe there is an alternate new version in store...

Hey there's nothing wrong with wearing a necktie with no shirt it's the whole collar part that looks dumb, like I keep saying it looks like a stupid mithril dicky Observe: Compare, notice how dumb they both look you may have noticed (as i just have) that the remodeled chain-mail armor also has a chain-mail miniskirt as you can see by this picture it looks really, really dumb what I would recommend is adding leather padding to the pants on the tops of the thighs and the backs of the calves (thought i have to admit i don't know what the boots look like) remove the miniskirt and replace it with leather preferably a belt or a small pair of shorts that connect with the leather padding on top of the thighs. Alternatively you could make it more leather than metal and replace use the mithril chain-mail as accents kind of like how room 207's iron armor has far less iron and far more leather than the vanilla.
Poontank Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Though I am really not offended by the 'miniskirt', the greaves will certainly profit from some remodeling, too. The boots are visible on these shots, they are mostly just adapted to the thicker bodybuilder legs: Two hundred fifty pounds of heroic Nordic barbarian meat - but still a goofball on purpose. In that regard all elements of the armor are perfectly supporting the character's appearance. These are valid points you brought up. I'm going to contact Johny and ask if he is interested in working on a new version.

When i gazed into the abyss that is his face it gazed back. When i wept, i wept tears of pitch.
movomo Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 That mithril necktie looks sexy and attractive to me. Although I'm definitely not a woman and arguably not a gay.. And such bodybuilder type body matches perfectly to that guy. Reminds me of a romantist (& machoist) man named Shin, From the Fist of the North Star.
Mallomar42 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 lengthen the face, give him more of a lantern jaw, remove the eye slant, make the cheek bones less pronounced, lower the blush, make the eyes less sunken into his skull, make his nose less flat, and obviously the person who made the character wants him to be a goofball so the smile is i guess essential but what i recommend is make his mouth smaller and the smile more slight; try to get a mischievous look going instead of a smile only seen on things that clearly aren't human. AND I CAN'T EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH, make his head BIG ENOUGH to match the rest of his body! As of right now he has a big muscular body and an itty bitty baby head, which the long hair only emphasizes.
Poontank Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Every single element of the character and his face is deliberately selected on purpose. Nothing will be changed. Why should I?
Mallomar42 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Every single element of the character and his face is deliberately selected on purpose. Nothing will be changed. Why should I? you don't have to if you don't want to i'm just noting that he falls into the uncanny valley, my above advise would be how i'd tweak the character if i wanted him look more like the character movomo posted. Though i would find some way to make his head bigger to match the body and the hair, i stand by that suggestion, possibly by lengthening his face.
movomo Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 my above advise would be how i'd tweak the character if i wanted him look more like the character movomo posted. ...Yeah? well... My opinion is a bit different. Just some more blush on his cheeks would be enough to make him perfect. Anything else is redundant. I'm gonna show you how blushing cheeks make something cute.

Mallomar42 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 And where would your own masterful screenshots be located, 'advanced member'? Hey I'm honestly not trying to start a fight here, member, I'm simply commenting on the fact that poon could improve the character. This isn't an attack on him, simply a bit of criticism, after all I'm the type of person who tweaks the way my character looks on oblivion or skyrim or fallout: new vegas every time I play; mostly due to the fact that until skyrim, bethesda has done their absolute best to make sure that character models look terrible. If you want to criticize the way my characters look you can find an outdated example here, would you like me to post more recent ones? She looks quite a bit better now, her tattoo is more complete. Perhaps I could get some valid feedback on how to make her look even better. Lastly member johneb, I doubt that Poontank, a contributor with 1830 posts needs help defending himself from an advanced member with, now, 31 posts.
johneb Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 The hell with it..I don't care. I was just wondering why you would insult someone who was trying to have a friendly discussion. You just kind of reminded of this ex-member named kate. She had a method of discourse similar to your own. My heartfelt apologies. I can see how that your use of 'blush' made all the difference in your orc girl.
