Aki K Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 Trying to install creation kit through MO2. It starts up properly (which took a while) but it doesn't load anything. There's no world space, no meshes, no spells, etc. Not a single mod is loaded. There are a very scarce few things showing up in the menu like "default ash pile" or the default male body (not the female body). Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I tried checking the wiki and googling the issue but I cannot find install instructions for MO2 anywhere. I either find people with hyper specific problems that are not mine and therefore the solutions don't work, or I find things completely barebones and not helpful. Like did someone delete the instructions because I seriously cannot find them anywhere. Here's what I've done so far: Installed creation kit through MO2 Set creation kit as an executable in MO2 Ran creation kit through MO2 I tried installing creation kit outside of MO2 but then it doesn't load. It is only running it through MO2 that keeps it from crashing, but then I don't see anything. Are there ini adjustments I need to make? some way to get it to find the paths where the mods and game are located? I didn't see anything like that in the settings. Literally all I'm trying to do is change a specific NPCs haircolor to white. I tried doing this through nifscope, but the textures wouldn't load so I couldn't see what I was doing. (and nothing was getting the textures to load despite my best efforts). I tried seeing if TesEdit had a way to change hair color but I didn't see anything.
AndrewLRG Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 According to your description you just opened Creation Kit as application. Did you actually load any mod in CK? You need to press yellow folder icon in top left corner that says "Load Master/Plugin Files" and select the mod you want to edit.
worik Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 MO2 with SE/AE? I'm travelling right now and don't have my notes with me, but I'll post some URLs with guides for you in a minute

But I'm under the impression that whatever I'm doing wrong is probably an installation issue, and version won't matter. I'm extremely inexperienced with creation kit. So any guide is better than no guide. The issue appears to be that it doesn't detect game files or mod files at all. And I can't seem to find a way to force it to. Edited February 24, 2024 by Aki K
worik Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 CK in LE has some well know issues. Easy to fix but without my notes, I can't retell them. Maybe it's in my posted tutorial collection. Yes, a few ini settings are indeed required It helps to have a dedicated MO profile for CK projects some patch for some dll- thing if you are doing some fancy stuff with dialogues. And basically, not to forget to tick the mods on the left pane, that you want to have in the ck
worik Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 oh, and YES! The ck must be setup to run as an application from WITHIN ModOrganizer! Like you do with FNIS, etc..

But I lot of this was stuff I tried to look at before and very little of it addresses my problem. See a lot of the tutorials here are already starting at a point past where my problem would have occurred. For example: one of the youtube videos goes from install to use, and it detects their mods just fine. But they're not using MO2 (I am). So their install method doesn't help me. And the wiki appears to be down.
worik Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 The yt guides from darkfox127 and gamerpoet are very helpful to go through step by step. Watch out for the older ones, the newer ones are specialized on SE/AE and might have minor irritation for LE

And basically, not to forget to tick the mods on the left pane, that you want to have in the ck Literally all I want to do is change the haircolor of a specific NPC for a specific mod, without affecting any other NPCs or the player. After that, I have no further intentions to use CK. I tried to find a simpler way to do so without CK but I couldn't find anything that works. CK is my last resort. What ini settings do I need? That's probably where things aren't working.
AndrewLRG Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 You can also check this out. They seem to be talking about the same issue. I'm personally using Nexus Mod Manager and don't know anything about Mod Organizer. https://stepmodifications.org/forum/topic/5718-creation-kit-sees-no-mods-with-mod-organizer/ 1

I'd tend to say: bad ini settings. Maybe start from scatch? To verify it: you start the ck from within MO2 as an application and it is installed in the Skyrim game directory?

I installed it into CK the way one would a mod. I'll bet that's where I went wrong.

worik Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 skyrim.exe and creationkit.exe (or whatever it's name) must share the same folder. CK uses the same mechanics as the game itself to get the content of the game.
worik Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 *sigh 🫤 It would be much easier if I were at home and could simply screenshot our LE setup for you. Going by memory isn't that much helpful for you?
Aki K Posted February 24, 2024 Author Posted February 24, 2024 Well it partly worked but now when I try to load the mod I get the following error: "Multiple Master Files Selected for Load. Load aborted." I only selected the one mod.

And ended with 4 unfinished mods, 20 in-progress worldspaces, learning papyrus, ...
Aki K Posted February 24, 2024 Author Posted February 24, 2024 (edited) Now this is happening: Spoiler Also something about a localization error EDIT: Might have found the fix for this. But man I am beginning to see why people hate this F*cking thing. Every error fixed just leads to a new error. Edited February 24, 2024 by Aki K
