Computer hangs

So, I had to replace my motherboard after my computer suffered a power surge (thanks fucking neighbor and shitty building owners). Everything was working fine for a while, but now my computer hangs now and then which forces me to do a reboot. I've checked the memory and hard drives and they are working as they should with no errors (even replaced my main graphics card with my spare one).

Any ideas about what the heck the problem might be?

there might be 2 things - you did not do a complete reinstalation of the systeme different motherbord needs different drivers and or bios update.

- or the less probable but possible a faulty chepset on the motherboard

I did a complete reinstall of the computer and motherboard (not the first time I build computers), and all the drivers are installed including bios being up to date.

I highly doubt that it would be a faulty chipset on the the motherboard, considering I bought the ASUS Sabertooth Z77 motherboard http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_Z77/. And considering I can play games just fine without any problems....

than it hangs in special occasions   which one ?  while gaming with oblivion or other games

The more you give details the more others can try and give worthy solutions.

Computer specs:

Intel Core i5 @ 3GHZ

16 GB of memory (Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz)

Primary HDD: Samsung 830 SSD (128 GB)

Secondary HDD: Western Digital 1 TB

External HDD: Western Digital 1 TB

Graphics card: Gigabyte 560 Ti

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

Playing games works fine without any problems, the hanging comes when I'm on the net over a longer period.

Are you using Firefox?  Mozilla screwed up the browser starting with v24.  Go to Options > Advanced > General and turn off "Use Hardware Acceleration When Available".

When I updated to v24, my whole system started lagging and eventually froze.  Kept doing a hard reboot.  When switching to Chrome and Opera, everything ran smoothly.  Did a new install of Firefox 25 and the problem returned.  After turning off Hardware Acceleration, the lagging and freezing stopped.
