Could you guy give me some tips on Roleplaying? I want general rules that can be used in any character, I play.

Please, do not bring suggestion like: Eat three times a day, because everybody already knows that rule. Try avoiding giving tips everyone already knows.

Without the use of mods to enforce these rules I assume?

You cannot create more than X weapons or armor pieces in a day.

You cannot haul around more than X gold with you.

If you have a new companion, you must release them in the next town.  You can find them again later.  Until you feel you are close enough to always be around together.

If you have a disease, you should rest at an inn for 2 days after you cured it.

If an arrow hits you in the knee.. you have to stop adventuring.

First of all, create a personality of your character, with likes, dislikes, wishes, phobias, and so on, and allways have these in the back of your mind, especially last ones can give you a hint on how to play as your character:

For example, maybe you have a girl who likes to socialize and who wants to be loved by everyone; or you have this strong orc who actually is afraid of horses. In the first example you should try to do everything that has to do with it, like gettich speechcraft to 100, talking to every person you meet, help out with smaller things like giving a letter from one person to another, and so on. As the orc, you could not only not ride any horses but also keep your distance from any stalls and steeds you find.

Another thing (that goes hand in hand what I already mentioned) you should give your character a hobby; something he or she enjoys to do, something she can focus on while having a break from adventuring. Cooking, amateur-crafting, hunting; what ever suits your character to enjoy the time and relax.

Just hilarious!

I already did of all that. I just need some new activities to do on free time.

Well there are other things to take into account rather than sleeping/eating/etc...I also self impose a weight limit, doesn't matter the Stamina, I look at my character and decide how strong this character would be, as an example my big Nord Male can carry up to 220, whereas my little Breton Female carries no more than 180...it also matters what they carry, no-one can loot a multitude of Armors and large Weapons, where and how can they carry it? So my characters only have one set of Armor (the Armor their wearing), one Weapon each of what they use, such as my Nord Male carries one Bow with Quiver, one Crossbow with Quiver, one Two Handed Sword and one Dagger, plus his Poisons, a little Food, some Water and a little Bling, some on the run Crafting Kits, Fire starting kit and a Bedroll...that's about all he carries, the bare necessities...As for looting, same thing, don't loot any large items, only small, light valuable items or what you would use, such as Alchemical ingredients.

There's also such things as Bathing (my Nord bathes to hide his scent), no swimming in frigid water...if you must, start a fire....and of course the no Fast Travel...Is all I can think of for now.

Then think further; if you already have a personality, then you can draw off that what your character might enjoy; if you have a rather shy mage for example, you could try using alchemy or cooking as hobby, the mighty warrior might enjoy sharpening his blade, and so on.

If you just can't think about anything, just ask, I am sure there is something interesting to do.

Roleplaying Quirks to pass the time:

Fears:  Pick 1 creature and 1 object you are deathly afraid of.  If you see either of these, you HAVE to run in a random direction for X number of seconds. No exceptions!

Addictions:  You have to consume X number of Y every day.. otherwise you cannot do anything the next day but collect double the number of Y to consume.

Obsessions: You have to perform X activity every night before you can sleep.. (IE.. swimming, jogging)

FUN: You Have to get drunk X times a week and converse with the nearest person your character would have an attraction to.  If you feel that your conversation was not rewarding enough, you have to pick a barfight with someone.

Mischief: You have an obsession to take an object from one persons house.. and put it in the house of someone else. EDIT: And it must be placed in a decorative manner!

The only thing I can say from my own experience is:

Take your time; don't overestimate the size of the game.

Not directly RP related, but not doing so has ruined RP for me more than once, in more than one game.

One thing with rp is that your character will continuously change little things as they grow within the game. Whatever your character experiences from other npcs will have some change of outlook onto your character in regards to the npcs race gender or other aspects .... like as an example ... my toon aaylia's first experience with a redguard male resulted in him raping her. So after that she has a huge distrust of redguard men .. and will steer clear of them in cities or kill them on site in the wild before anything else and she's half redguard/nord. She also has a strong attraction to khajits and will help them out at the drop of a hat. .. and as she is a vampire .. she only travels at night .. usually helping out inside an inn during the day hours if she's not sleeping ... though at night she will also break into a redguards home at night to feed on them if they're available.

Point I'm trying to make is to change aspects of your character too depending on how others have treated them.

How can you start bar fights without having a bounty on your head. You can have some bar fights, but only once, and with a small amount of NPCS.

Any mods to brawl anyone?

the only thing I can give you on your way is. There is only one rule for skyrim that are not "settle".

you can do whatever you want, whether you "are bad or good," if you "hated or loved," will that game goes on.

True, but if you want to roleplay a character, that's the worst thing you could do; at least if you don't want to play a bipolar sociopath with several mental conditions.

Keep in mind that roleplaying allways means that you submitt to several rules, may it be logic, vital needs or simply the idea of death.

One RP rule I have been very happy with has to do with werewolves.

If you change shape, let your animal instincts drive you.

Run in a straight line toward the moon (or any moon). Change direction to hunt down elks.

When you wake up, remain naked (use the Skinny dipping mod to enforce losing your inventory where you transformed ).

This has forced me to play with unused spells and ignored weapons as I worked my way back to my gear.

Mods like Tales of Lycanthropy help as well with cyclic transformations based on moon phase.

Yeah, the needs and tangible necessities of an rp life are well catered for with mods, but it's the mortar that binds it all that nobody can mod for that makes it all come together.

I'm no hardcore RPer but I've always made quite a lot of effort and preparation over the many years, because I discovered it never failed to make things seem a ton more immersive, made me care more too.

What's always helped me is to have a bio that forms the solid foundation of my toon,  I'll allow it to be dictated to a degree by what I know of the lore but mainly I'll think of key character traits and work my way backwards to the point at which those traits might have been formed and that naturally tends to help me arrive at a more or less fleshed out back story. It's that old actor cliche - "what's my motivation?".

That approach has come in handy playing MMOs where I've joined strict rp guilds and been put through trials, or interviews or been asked to take part in impromptu ad lib rp in gatherings and such, my toons always come fully loaded with back story I can draw on in getting into character so I've rarely ever been stuck for something to contribute, however small - never been one for playing the big hero, never interested me. But small dramas very much do.

edit: meant to add that as long as you have a fairly strong basis for character fleshed out, the rest is pretty much improvised. "Rules" are all well and good, but if you have a handle on your toon's personality traits then everything else should fall into place naturally, or so I've found.

On a fine line between RP'ing and other gameplay elements, I've been following a rule lately where I only save in places where I can Sit Down or Sleep. So benches, chairs, and beds, bedrolls, etc. are places where I save.

It goes really well with this mod, too:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/45894/?

And, as I type this post, I think I might make it so quills are required to save as well, and maybe some rolls of paper. It makes sense to record your adventures on a scroll.

EDIT: This mod you can actually make scrolls: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33950/? just to make the recording of your adventures more ingame "palpable".

More like "...Arrow in the boobs."

For Fast travel in RP do you think it would be acceptable to use it if you say had a mod where Your Load screens were actually just journal entrys and you were provided with instructions on say how to change them to whatever you want, meaning after you have used let's say 10 or so entrys you can change them.

Or is fast Travel always disabled for RP in your opinion?

I think Fast Travel should be used depending on what kind of RP you are trying to achieve (same with any of those silly rules posted here) do you want something more adventure-like, or something that simulates real-life but in the fantasy setting of Tamriel, more specifically Skyrim?

If that's so then you may opt to travel from spot A to spot B by foot, or to use a carriage and use some mod (I don't remember the name) that allows you to experience the carriage travel, added with a chance of being a set-up for you to be robbed. There's also the matter of coming up with a more convincing story; who is your character? What is their story? Will go by Bethesda's story, or you are going to avoid the entire questline of the game and focus on your character's story? You should ask yourself these questions first, and then decide to have a RP play-through.

There are a lot of RP possibilities with many modes and I believe those on Loverslab can allow someone who is focused on role-playing in a more realistic and challenging Skyrim, but it is a matter of filtering out a huge list of mods and consider many things and details.
