DSveno Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 (edited) First time trying Reloaded II and it went pretty smoothly. The hiccup only happened when I also used mod that use Special K but I can just click the "Deploy ASI Loader" button and everything went smoothly. The tutorial is quite clear. Pretty convenient to manage mods too. I can switch things on and off depend on my mood. Edited February 19, 2024 by DSveno

Mod isn't showing up(it's the topless character picture one in thread). Figuring this shit out without step by step pictures is not fun. Update on this. Got the mod added, click on launch application and it opens game, black screen, closes game. Edit: Also does this with no mods enabled. Do I need to run Reloaded as admin? Any other time I've had to use it for a game, it's been a hassle to work with, and this game is no exception. For some reason whenever I try to run the game through Reloaded II, it irreparably breaks my game install, making it so I can't even launch the game anymore, even outside of Reloaded II itself. So for anyone like me, who either can't use Reloaded II, or just doesn't want to, I think I found a way to do the reverse of what happened with utamaruunk's mod, where we can take a mod created for Reloaded II, and install it manually instead. I'll put the instructions into this spoiler, just to save some space. Reveal hidden contents 1. Make a backup of the "data" folder, and the file "data.i" in your Granblue Fantasy Relink game folder. You'll use these to restore the game files, if something goes wrong, or you want to uninstall your mods. 2. Take whatever mod you want to install, and navigate to the "GBFR" folder included inside. Then, take the "data" folder, and merge it with the data folder located in your Granblue Fantasy Relink game folder. 3. Download "GBFRDataTools.exe.zip" from "https://github.com/Nenkai/GBFRDataTools/releases" and extract the contents of the zip into it's own folder. -If you don't already have NET 8.0 Runtime, you need it for this to work, too. 4. In the folder with "GBFRDataTools.exe" create a Patch.bat file. You can just make a .txt file and rename it to be a .bat, as long as you have "File name extensions" turned on. Then, open the Patch.bat file with a notepad program, and put the following into it: start GBFRDataTools.exe add-external-files -i "%YOURGAMESFOLDER%\Granblue Fantasy Relink\data.i" You have to replace "%YOURGAMESFOLDER%" with the location on your computer where the game is installed. 5. Finally, run the "Patch.bat" that you just made, and it should install all the mods you put into the data folder, during step 2. When you want to add more mods, simply repeat steps 2 and 5. If you want to uninstall the mods, overwrite the data folder and data.i file with the ones you made backups of during step 1. I don't know if this will work for every mod, but it's worked for the few mods that I've tested so far. Been using Reloaded for years... no problem at all... are you sure you're not runing any specialK mod at the same time ? they specify in the faq that they don't work well together. . . 1

No, I'm not using SpecialK. I tested various things with Reloaded II. I tried their ASI Loader, or whatever, I tried it with no mods whatsoever, I tried running as admin. No matter what I did, Reloaded would try hooking into the game, the game would crash within 1 frame, i.e. it doesn't even open, and even if I tried launching the game without Reloaded even open, the same thing would happen, and I'd have to re-verify files to fix it. The fact that I can inject the mods manually and they all work fine, proves that it's Reloaded II itself that's the problem. And I don't really care enough to find out why. I don't care for it hooking into my game for literally no reason, either way. Edited February 19, 2024 by Tehman4 1

By the way gbfrelink.utility.manager always keeps a backup of the original data.i so you dont need to do any of the file verification crap. Just copy paste and replace it if you want to revert. 2

However, one should not twist the original meaning too much to adapt it to another culture, otherwise it becomes localization. Yeah, I think the key is that a localization is more of a cultural rewrite into something that people in the target culture will have a greater familiarity with. It's like when they do English language remakes of works from other countries rather than adding subtitles or a dub to the original work. Let the Right One In vs Let Me In, The Ring vs Ringu, etc. Not all of these remakes are bad, but yeah, they aren't a replacement for the original. So I get what you're saying there. As an aside, a good example of a translation having to take liberties popped to mind after my last comment. When I was in high school, I read the John Ciardi translation of Dante's Inferno for a class. What's interesting about his translation vs others is that he makes some attempt to preserve the meter of the original (though not always the rhyming scheme), which was written in terza rima and consistent iambic pentameter. It's extremely difficult to preserve both the form and the literal meaning, and some compromises had to be made. There are better "literal" translations of the Inferno, but they usually make no attempt to preserve the music of the text, and in the process they lose something arguably more valuable. Anyway, good chat

What's the point of uploading it if it's just gonna get taking down within a day or two?

Reloaded sucks imo, Same thing happened to me it just corrupted my install and for some reason enabled windows telemetry. Easy enough to just disable it again but still kinda scary who knows what else it did.
