Ark of Truth Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Yep, got it pre-ordered from Amazon   It looks so damn good compared to the rest. Massive improvement even without the ability to directly pilot capital ships.
windpl Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 My fear is that it got "consolised" to much. But we will see.
Ravencroft Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Someone needs to work on a mod ASAP that turns your co-pilot into a sexy submissive and eager to please slave.
Lodakai Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Argghghghghghg  the 10th is so far away.  OPEN THE GATE! EDIT: BAH! 15th  ><
Lodakai Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Yep.. I'm trying not to get my hopes TOO high... but if there is some pretty good modder support.. imagine what can be done with it. Â NPC interaction on stations... that could be really interesting.
Lodakai Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Some tidbits I picked up about modding the game  Source = http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=341168  1. No "SDK" as such. Modding will be all about adding and modifying files. 2. We use DAE files as an intermediate format but the files are then run through a converter for use in the game. Making that conversion available to modders is something we'll need to consider. 3. You should be able to make pretty big modifications, more so than in previous games as more elements and functionality will be in modifiable files. Oh, and no in-game script editor. Think MD rather than SE for scripting.  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  CLIP 2 Source = http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=306357  What engine and API do we use? X Rebirth will run on DX9 API as long as all the features that we need from the API are possible with it. That does not mean we may not at some point also support DX11, but for now we do not see a need. Our engine is quite different from all the big established names, because it is designed specifically for a space game. We had a look at engines like Unreal or the CryEngine, but because we wanted to have cutting edge space graphics, an area very different from what these engines are specialized in, we had to develop our own engine.  Will X Rebirth support modding? We definitely aim to support modding again. Since this is an entirely new engine, we can not provide any documentation and API support before the game comes out, but we hope to provide this soon after the release.  How is scripting going to be supported? The new engine supports a scripting system very similar to the MD language used in Terran Conflict. It will be strongly modified for the new engine, but if you understand MD already, chances are that you will find it relatively easy to write missions for the new game. XML based languages are also used in many other areas of designing a game with the new Rebirth engine.  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Some example scripts  http://members.gamedev.net/bag-of-holding/gdc2011/Cutscene.html http://members.gamedev.net/bag-of-holding/gdc2011/AIScript.html   Source:   http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=298727
Angrybird Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Star Citizen is full of disgusting nonsense I hope this kicks ass.
Lodakai Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I thought star citizen looked amazing. Â What makes you not like it?
Angrybird Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Weird shit with buyable ships and insurance and whatnot makes me fear for that game.
Heromaster Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I'm a huge fan of the X-series and I can't wait to get my copy of it. But I'm curious about the concept of Rebirth. It looks much more of Elite than ever. I still hope that this game will be as awesome as the previous games.
thatTESguy Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I'm an X fan and backed Star Citizen, but... Â No one mentioned Limit Theory? Seriously? Â Really, just go look at the Kickstarter update videos (of which there are several already). Not as flashy as Star Citizen, but this is a one (ok, maybe 2) man development "studio" coding an entire game (engine, procedural assets and AI, and all) from nothing. And wildly ambitious too. Â The recent "data editor" video is really something. Has to be seen.
Angrybird Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Oh yeah that one looks good the dev diaries are super interesting.
Lodakai Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Weird shit with buyable ships and insurance and whatnot makes me fear for that game. Â Well they are trying to raise money. Â But I totally see what you mean. Â It is a bit scary to think that they might continue nickel and dime-ing subscribers after release. outside of their subscription or charging methods, the concept looks amazing. Â @Jimhsu Thanks for the link! I wasn't aware of that one! Â Edit: 5 Days! Â Let's pray it isn't a let down! Â I'm cringing at the thought of a bugged release also >< Â
Angrybird Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Oh yeah, anyone checked The Mandate? Nothing to do with the others on this thread but they seem to be trying to make a space opera, and I want my space opera game.
windpl Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 3 days remaining.  /Rant start   Now I wonder why to fuck release it at 15(Friday) if it is clearly PC game and it sells better in Europe than in USA. And previously Deep(ass)Silver stated that EU release is at Monday and US at Fridays. And that why I had to wait fucking 3 days until I could play game that I bought(Saint'sRow4), and when I was finally able to play it - half of world already finished it. Bravo Deep Silver for your fucking cohesion.   /rant end
Lodakai Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 It's very confusing..  I also saw something that said it will be released in the USA 3 days AFTER europe.  Arghhg  why can't they be more clear.   I'm in north america and steam says 3 days left.    Egosoft releases on 15th  http://www.egosoft.com/games/x_rebirth/info_en.php I believe Tri Synergy is also 15th. Deep Silver claims 15th also http://www.deepsilver.com/en/game-view/view/game/access12/x-rebirth/  I think they intended to do a europe release first, but they merged the dates. http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=341133   The action-loaded space simulation from Egosoft and Deep Silver will be released in Europe on the 15th of November 2013   There's also some good news for our fans in North America: Egosoft and Tri Synergy will be releasing X Rebirth on the 15th of November 2013 for the US market.  EDIT: Yep.. it was not deep silver who changed the date, but Egosoft and Tri Synergy who pushed theirs forward.
Lodakai Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 FYI Also.. you can now Pre-Download your game on steam if you purchased it there
Lodakai Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Repeat after me.. this game is going to suck.  one ship is going to suck.. I'll just play a few hours then forget about it.  There.. now you won't be disappointed =p  EDIT: 9 hours.. faaark.  ><
windpl Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Repeat after me.. this game is going to suck.  one ship is going to suck.. I'll just play a few hours then forget about it.  There.. now you won't be disappointed =p  EDIT: 9 hours.. faaark.  ><  I'm sure that with time there will be mod that will make you able to fly and walk on m1 2h left.
