billypnats Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Working on a quest to revamp Tirk and the quest aliases are not functioning? I would like to have the player retrieve his spear. I made a spearAlias and a spearMarkerAlias. The spear is supposed to spawn at the spearmarker alias. I had it working at one point and now its not working at all. I tried to make allow reserved and optional but the aliases are not filling in game. SQV command shows none for all aliases... please help Quote
DarkBlade13 Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 (edited) Aliases only work when you force them with code Alias_TikAlias.ForceRefTo(Self) Alias_TikAlias.ForceRefTo(Game.GetPlayer()) Alias_TikSpearMarkerAlias.ForceRefTo(SpearObjectRef as actor) https://ck.uesp.net/wiki/ForceRefTo_-_ReferenceAlias Edited December 17, 2023 by DarkBlade13

Unless you force fill them as per DarkBlade13, they will only fill upon quest start. Are you loading a save before the quest has started to test them?
billypnats Posted December 18, 2023 Author Posted December 18, 2023 I think thats the problem... I'm testing with previous versions already loaded

I'm testing with previous versions already loaded This is a big hassle with playtesting quests. You have to go back to a save before the quest ever started to get the aliases to fill. Same thing if you make any changes to anything you put in the game world. And the longer the quest gets, the bigger the hassle. Which is probably why the vanilla game breaks up long quests into many sub quests.
