Unseesn audio ads.

This just popped up tonight as of this writing. I though it was a one time thing but evidently not. Also tried downsizing windows and checking my open tabs and, nothing.

 

I've been getting unseen audio ads. The last one I think was for Geico. I've done some googling and found about something called iexplore.exe

 

I have Adaware running now to try and get rid of this.

 

Messed up thing is I haven't downloaded a damn thing in the past week or so.

Just to be clear here, are you referring to audio ads being played on your computer in general, or are you referring to audio ads being played from LoversLab? Because if they're audio ads on LoversLab; I have angry support tickets that need writing, as I've disabled audio/video ads on the site.

 

EDIT: After rereading it, it seems you pretty clearly mean audio ads popping up in general, not on loverslab.

 

iexplorer.exe is Internet Explorer, which could be running the ad in the background, assuming you aren't opening using Internet Explorer to browse the internet at that moment.

 

Just run a scan with the free edition of Malwarebytes and/or Windows Defender (Windows 8) / Microsoft Security Essentials (Windows XP/Vista/7)

I ran no less than three malware scanning programs since I realized what was happening, it seems to have eaten them.

 

And in total honesty, I use an ad blocker, so I wouldn't have heard an audio ad on Loverslab.

I would recommend running Malwarebytes in "Safe Mode" if you are on Windows 7 or any prior version of Windows. Windows 8 is a whole different deal and quite difficult to work with in regards to this. You can reach Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key directly after seeing the black screen with white words go by when your computer is first turned on or rebooted. Make sure to run a "Full Scan" , the quick scans will often times miss some rogue services. Running Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials full scans in Safe Mode will also work best due to the Start up files not being able to load.
