DatDude's Demo Experiments

 

A common complaint on Discord: there just aren't enough sales demos, so the job gets stale fast. This mod fixes that. Five new alternate demos, more video variety, new NPCs, new dangers, and new ways to build your sexual reputation — plus 13 new achievements and a shared unlock system. It's also built so other modders can plug their own demos into the same system.

Be careful. These demos can get dangerous.

 

Hypnosis — a hypnotist with dirty tricks and a pregnancy fetish.
Barista — he doesn't care if you orgasm on a Dumb Bitch, so watch yourself.
Pharmacy — the pharmacist may hand you an unknown pill with nasty side effects, like a Resistance or a Breeder.
Pool Cleaner — a stay-at-home housewife who's... strangely normal. She's hot, she's lonely, give her some attention.
Realtor — a straightforward sale that doesn't stay professional for long.

 

New in version 1.9.0: a "Follow up" storyline at the mall. If you've completed a Barista demo while selling a Dumb Bitch pill, there's a new barista — Bexley — working at Jitters, inside the Paradise Mall. Meet her across repeat visits, and she won't stay the same girl for long: how you treat her leaves a mark. The visits can go more than one way depending on who you are and who else is around — including one run-in with Purple-Pill-Alexia. It comes with its own achievements to chase, and a spoiler-tagged content guide is tucked into the mod archive for anyone who wants the full map.

HOW TO UNLOCK

 

Hit sales level 2 at the Sales Job. Your boss pulls you into his office and clears you for "Experimental Demos." They're on by default — after that, use the notice board in the break room to toggle them off or back on anytime.

 

If another mod breaks the intro scene (Usagi666's "Cold Calling Interruptions," older versions of my own Cold Calling Improvements, or anything that touches the :: work options passage), there's a break-room failsafe that unlocks you directly. Either way, the sign-up toggle appears once you reach level 2.

 

WHICH DEMO DO I GET?

 

Each demo is tied to specific pills, and two also require certain company types:

Hypnosis, Barista, Pool Cleaner — any company.
Pharmacy — event, hospitality, marketing, lifestyle, spa, gym, tech, travel, healthcare, or maritime companies only.
Realtor — real estate, event, hospitality, marketing, lifestyle, service contractor, tech, or farm companies only.
Hypnosis and Barista both cover Dumb Bitch / GoodGirl Basic / GoodGirl Max, so on some days you'll qualify for either. When that happens you're randomly assigned one, with the other shown locked behind a 🔒. Spend one Action Point to unlock free switching between every demo you qualify for that day. No console commands needed — just play, and pay the single AP if you'd rather pick than leave it to chance.

 

Ten new achievements are spread across all five demos, using the base game's achievement system, and the Jitters follow-up adds a few more of its own.

 

INSTALLATION

 

You need two mods:

Sales Demo Framework Backport — supplies the shared sales-demo framework everything here is built on. That framework didn't make it into the released base game (0.25.1 and earlier), so on every released build this mod is required.
DatDude's Demo Experiments — all five demos, the Jitters follow-up, the unlock sequence, and the achievements.

Install both with the Official X-Change Life Modloader Utility. Do NOT extract the archives yourself — the modloader handles that, and it also loads them in the right order (the Backport first). Both apply on 0.25.0 and 0.25.1 alike.

 

One correction to earlier versions of this page: it used to say you could delete the "Framework Backport." That was a mistake — it's required. If you removed it, put it back. (The separate, long-dead "DatDude's Demo Framework" is a different thing: it's incompatible, so don't load that one.)

Hi great idea, will be waiting for updates.
Could you please update images to use similar style as base game? Because AI images by default look really bad

“For those who are curious, I use Prequel’s AI “Cartoon+” filter on images to get the cartoon look for images. Prequel is also weirdly expensive. It works best on high quality images and often needs post tweaking. From there I use Topaz Sharpen AI to polish up the images and make them more game-ready, since Prequel produces fairly low res looking stuff“

 

Will you add some side effects after hypno demo? I suggested one side effect about hypno in this mod, but not sure if it ever will be implemented:

On prequelized images VS AI: I'm not going to pay for prequel. Keep in mind that most of the base game images being added these days are AI-generated as well The barista demos images were a first attempt. While I do agree they are pretty ugly, I'm not going to re-make them using prequel. I would like to revisit them at some point though, using better models, facial consistency, and better lighting on the bodies. In particular the blonde barista girl could use some work -- her face changes significantly in literally every picture, and I think she looks way too young. That doesn't mean I'm ignoring your request! Just that I'm not going to pay for such an expensive app. I was able to prequel a couple of images for the hypno demo in the free version of the app, but it's really annoying to do so. And I'd like to just start those pics from scratch anyway.

 

Side effects after demos: maybe? But probably not any time soon. What's more likely would be integrating side effects from the base game, adding side effects supported by other mods, or using custom status indicators more (which both the current demos of mine do)

I appreciate the support! And thank you for your patience -- there's plenty left to work on for me with just these two additional demos. Lots of rare bugs & edge cases to handle still. Ideally once you're ready to try these out they'll be in a more perfectly functional state!

Want to report that there's no option to continue the coffee demo if you don't have minigames turned on. Usually there's a % chance to pass button.

Thanks for letting me know!! I hadn't considered that would need additional considerations, I thought that the minigames functions would handle that automatically.

 

Will add a fix soon, and make sure that both demos include the fix.

You need to add the mods in the Demos folder as well.
In total there should be like.... a buncha .twees you're going to end up adding.
Now that I've solved it myself.

There seems to be some ongoing confusion on how to install mods in .zip files in this thread. For reference, this is what your modloader should show when installing the demo experiments mod.

You should be using the modloader to select the zip files -- not unzipping them or using the zip files contents. This will ensure that you're not missing anything.

Well first  of all, I believe I have installed it all 3 correctly, though, I have had a goodgirl barista and a db-barista run in my current game, though no Hypno demo just yet, is that a special kind of buisness that is needed for that to pop up? and well then there is the payment, for these demoes, i get acredditted for a succesfull sale then the next moment when back in the bedroom the money, I believe fall back to what it was prior to payment for the demo(I believe this to happen with both GG-barista or DB-Barista?

The new maid job has some missing pill features - You can't get any data values, let alone the string "maid pool cleaner", from the number 0

I find it very odd that one of your mods conflicts with the other so I have to assume that the issue is with another mod I may be using.

 

Any ideas what may be causing this?

I don't see the option to opt into the alternate demos. I also never got the event with the boss saying it's available. Maybe because I got promoted too quickly?
