Greenbeat70 Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 Hello everyone,i have a problem and i was asking myself is there please, anyone who can offer me a solution for steam to stop working on windows 7 ultimate. I never play the game but i have thousants of hours work in the creation kit supplied with the game,i will loose that if steam stops working. That is a shame because 75% of my time is going into this game. I create my own content and im also altering poses with the tool HKX poser,im willing to share some awesome tips with the one who can help me to prevent that steam stops working. BTW Englisch is not my native language but i think its good enough?
jcanders Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 (edited) A) Upgrade to Windows 10 or 11 The support for W7 ended years ago and the upgrade path was free. B) Get the DRM-free version from GOG.com. www.nexusmods.com/news/14753 Edited November 5, 2023 by jcanders
RoxDox Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 As much as 8, 10 and 11 have sucked. I'm sorry my friend you may need to just upgrade....
Mr. Otaku Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 (edited) There is no solution for that, Steam is ending support for an aging OS. There's no reason to still be using Windows 7. Just do yourself a favor and get 10 or 11. Edited November 6, 2023 by Mr. Otaku Make A Post With No Typos Challenge: Impossible

No, Microsoft put an end to it a while ago, after 7 instead of 1 year. https://www.zdnet.com/article/its-official-no-more-free-windows-10-upgrades/ If you're trying to activate a W7-license on a W10-system (due to replacing hardware or a new build), you'll only get an error message.

Good thing I did it last year then.
LanaRavenclaw Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Another option: use Linux. It is quite different but works very well for Skyrim.
Lyman the Lunatic Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 Mine works just fine. Is it a 3rd party software conflict?

This year, Flickr ended support for Vista around July, which forced me to switch to imgbox, where the size of the uploaded file is limited to about 10MB. If you've ever wondered why computer games are created for the latest versions of operating systems - the answer is simple.. As usual, it's all about mutual earnings of these industries. As the saying goes: "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours".?♀️ Alright, more to the point!? Someone mentioned a year ago in one of the posts on Reddit that it is possible to cheat Steam's requirements by replacing a file with an .api extension (it works like a system patch), but! Depending on the author's opinion, this may result in a ban/blockage of your account! The second solution given by an anonymous user from Reddit is to edit the line indicating the version of OS in the Steam notepad. (By changing the line with Win 10, Windows 10 to Win 11) I don't remember its correct form of name, so you'd have to check it in your notepad.? Beacuse of such a wide selection of them, it's easy to get a dilemma. Besides of that, there is the question of choosing the right tool to make Linux bootable in the BIOS.? Now the opinions: Fedora seems nice, I have heard good things about it generally Garuda is based on Arch Linux, which I use myself and like quite a bit. I did also test Garuda on a Live USB, and it seems okay, though the theme is a bit garish Pop!_OS is a solid choice as well Linux Mint is solid as well The other ones I'd avoid, though they might be an okay choice for you… 4 hours ago, smartfon said: choosing the right tool to make Linux bootable in the BIOS.? I may be missing something, but it should be as easy as making a USB installation medium (I'd pick Rufus here) selecting the USB when booting and then following the installer. If you mean a boot loader (the thing that allows you to choose between Windows and Linux after installation) I think most of the distros in that article use GRUB, which supports both BIOS and UEFI. (Note: The link is to the Arch Wiki, a resource that's primarily for Arch Linux, but is very useful for any distro generally) 1
Gameplayer Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 Win 10 regi key cost me about ten dollars last year. The next issue is that win11 is going to need modern PC to actually run.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and knowledge about this operating system family with me and the community LL.? So far, I've managed to run some outdated version of Linux Mint and Fedora mounted on a flash drive using Rufus. (FAT32 file system) Both systems have a convenient and pleasing to my eye interface. Well, that's as much as I can say after a quick examination / survey of them in their raw state.? (without installing them)
