Some ideas that crossed my mind for once modding takes off.

Here's a nice simple one: Let's have some plates you can snap onto a starship in the builder.  Like the weapon mounting plates, except instead oa a mount, they just have a surface for a picture.

 

Thing is, the picture texture is in a file and the idea is that you make your own textures, overwrite the default images, and have these things say whatever you want.

 

What a nameplate for your favorite ride? No problem. A bit of WWII bomber pin-up art? Doable. the mudflap chick to adorn your fuel tanks? Easy.

 

Downside is that if we work out how to apply decals, the whole thing could be obsolete before it's even published. Oh well...

Well, the "place doors yourself" mod indicates that this is something that could be done fairly easily. The mod I mentioned was made with xEdit, I think, and it works quite well.

A landing module for larger ships would be nice, to avoid clipping on the ground.
