Ark of Truth Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 This review is slowly being expanded to be a starter guide for anyone wanting to try the game as well as a in depth review, as such it is subject to change. Table of Contents What is WarFrame? What types of missions are there in WarFrame? Foundry Issues and problems FAQ Useful Information Clan Dojo - Clan Space Station Video Screenshots What is WarFrame? WarFrame is a beta status massive multiplayer online game creating being developed by Digital Extremes and is available for digital download from Steam or the developer's website. The objective of WarFrame is simple go to a planet in the solar system and complete an area. Each area will have a type of mission assigned to it depending on what that area is. What types of missions are there in WarFrame? There are currently 10 types of primary missions available in WarFrame. Each mission type is shown below along with the basic objective of the mission. Most of this section is taken from the WarFrame wiki but I have updated parts of it to include changes on the last patch. The missions types are as follows: Assassination Assassination missions require the player to kill a unique enemy boss and then leave the area via extraction. Assassination missions can also be obtained as Alerts. Capture Capture missions require the player(s) to find a red Corpus Crewman, incapacitate and capture them before returning to the mission start for extraction. Conclave The Conclave is a PVP based game type which allows for 1v1 and 2v2 dueling. Deception Deception mission require the player(s) to take a datamass storage device to a terminal in the mission area, normally to a ship's navigation core and the proceed to the extraction zone. This mission type is set to be phased out of the game in a future update in favor for a new mission type. Endless Defense Endless Defense Mission is a game mode in which the player(s) must defend either a Cryopod or a Power Core from waves of enemies. The wave will be considered cleared when all the enemies in the wave have been killed. Every 5 waves the player(s) will receive an option to either leave the mission and receive a random reward (which is shown) or to try their luck against harder enemies for an additional 5 waves. The mission is considered completed whenever the team accepts the offer to claim a reward and exit and only fails if the Cryopod/Powercore is destroyed or the team dies or exits before the current five wave interval ends. Exterminate Exterminate Mission requires players to kill all enemies in the area, and then make it to extraction. Security cameras and turrets are not counted as targets and are not deducted from the to-kill count. After all the kill count has been reduced to zero no additional enemies will spawn. The player(s) at this point will then need to proceed to the extraction area. Mobile Defense Mobile Defense Missions require players to carry a datamass, similar to Deception, to several computer terminals and upload it to them. Once uploaded at each terminal, players will have to defend the terminal until hacking is completed. Unlike normal Defense missions, these require players to defend for a set period of time instead of a set amount of waves. Rescue Rescue Missions require the player(s) to locate and escort a hostage from a brig to the extraction zone. The hostage is in a room with multiple prison cells, about half of which will be locked, and the rest hackable; the hostage will be in one of the hackable cells. Sabotage Sabotage Missions require players to find the reactor room, and destroy the reactor core. To destroy the reactor core, players will need to expose the reactor fuel rods, then proceed to destroy each of the cylinders. When the reactor core has been destroyed, the players then are to return to extraction. If the mission takes place on a Grineer Asteroid Base, an alternate version of the mission will occur in which players will instead be tasked with finding and destroying a number of Drilling Machines scattered around the map. The missions that require the destruction of the reactor core have a chance of triggering the Timed Extraction event upon completion via the overhead message " Ship Integrity Compromised", while the missions requiring destruction of the Grineer Drilling Machines will not usually trigger a timed extraction. Spy Spy Missions require the player(s) to locate and hack terminals. Once a terminal is hacked, a datamass will be raised on the platform next to it. Players must pick it up and proceed to the next terminal. All datamasses must be brought to the extraction point to complete the mission. Players will get a random mod, blueprint or consumable as a mission reward on completion of a Spy mission. This mission type is to be phased out at a later date. Wave Defense Wave Defense Mission is similar to the Endless Defense type, except it requires Tenno to defend a waypoint until the given number of waves have been defeated. The most commonly seen number of waves is 15, however it can be 10 or 20 (maybe more). In each wave enemies get stronger and stronger like a standard defense mission. There is no early exit however. Tenno must complete all the waves or fail. This is used in Defense Alerts, Orokin Void defense missions, nightmare mode defense missions, and was first introduced in the Artifact Defense Event. Survival Survival is one of the 3 new mission types to replace Raid, Spy and Deception missions. Survival has replaced Raid missions in Update 10. Players will have to fight an endless, steady stream of enemies to survive for as long as possible while slowly losing life support. Each kill will have a chance to drop personal life support modules that restores 4% of the life support system. Occasionally the Lotus will drop off life support capsules that restore 30% on activation, starting fairly frequently but the time between drops will get progressively longer. After 5 minutes, the Extraction point will be enabled and marked on the minimap, and the squad can choose between rushing to it for completion or staying on for a longer period of time. Players will receive a large bonus for remaining on the battlefield for 15 minutes total before extracting. Escort Escort is one of 3 new mission types to replace Raid, Spy and Deception missions. Players will be required to escort a robot Lotus throughout the map ensuring her survival until she reaches her objective. Mission failure is achieved if the enemies destroy the robot Lotus. This mission type is predicted to be released in a future update. Duoleb The Chosen Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 well i played a few months ago before the initial release, when Volt was one of the 1st starters, i think it was during the 1st week on steam i stopped playing during the initial release of the Etheral Knifes and Swords, i had a lvl 23 volt and a lvl 12 rhino and because of the lack of customization, its hard to keep at least the classic color pack free instead of buying all colors via platinum? the rest is fine, but keep the 1st one free for everyone instead of giving a horrible easter pallete pack instead
Cynical Misanthrope Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 I played in Beta and long after it's release. At first, it was the most awesome game ever. If you just wanted to kill some stuff for a few hours, it was the perfect game. Nice flow, and fast paced if you so wished. Stealth play could be done, but it was not really worked on. And it was okay when it came to gear. Most of it was easy to obtain. Some was harder. WAY HARDER. I remember, I wanted to have a new warframe, and starting to farm for it. I spent 3 months trying to get the blueprint for the helmet for this new frame. I even wrote on the forum, asking it if it was removed, or just an issue, becuase it was getting ridicouls. And then one day, just as a random reward for an endless defense mission I got it. In the meantime, I had gotten 2 other frames instead, and lvled them to the max lvl. Overall, it felt well-balanced, no frame was OP really. They all had thier strenghts and weaknesses. Then Digital Extreme was starting to slowly ruin the game due to greed. They were starting to add content, that you either could pay for right away with IRL money, or..... Prepare to grind for it, for an eternity. Now, I don't mind some grind really. But this was ridicouls. It could take 1-2 weeks to just find ONE component that you might needed. They raised the materials needed for all ther parts to an ridicouols high amount, and at the same time lowered the stuff (loot) that you could find during a mission. So when retarded players rather paid for it, instead of telling DE that it was wrong, DE saw how easy it was to earn money. I gladly support a company, if I feel they deserve it. So no issues there. But this was just insane. I saw on a daily basis, how new players, had hard time getting into the game. To them, it was just to difficult, and time consuming. (you see, instead of adding actually some kind of tactics on bosses and harder enemies, DE simply gave them more health and shields, making them bullet sponges) And all weapons that you could buy, for in game credits was removed. Now you could only buy them for real money. Or grind for them. And that would take weeks. Becuase DE came up with this brilliant idea, that bosses would have less chance to drop stuff, the more you killed it. Don't get me started on bugs. Tons of em. And some were fixed, but new ones was added. The core game was a mess, but DE rather added new content instead of fixing the game. Not to mention the punishing system. And since it's players that is hosting, sometimes you could end up with someone having a shitty toaster that they ran their internetz on. So if you got dced or died (due to the connection) in a middle of a mission, you would lose all your loot. I rarely played with other players. Becuase when I did, I wanted to murder them, or they had so shitty connection so it could not be played. I rather stop now, just thinking of it gets me raged. All I can say now is, such a shame that a nice game such Warframe would end up as total garbage. All, I can honestly say is, do you shout louder than anybody else? (so that developers can hear you) Do you rather pay for stuff with IRL money then earn them by playing the game? Do you think its more important that a game gets more content instead of fixing the core game. Well, Then Warframe is the game for you.
Mailamea Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 As long as the cash items in the game can be brought with regular in game money, its ok for me. Well at least they did not made it exclusive platinum only. But yeah the farming of blueprints is the downside.
Ark of Truth Posted October 13, 2013 Author Posted October 13, 2013 But it's fun You can't deny that.
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I played it but to be honest I liked it better playing solo. The groups I had played in at the start had no communication, no strategy, and no team work they just all ran around doing their own things to complete the objective. Playing in disorganized groups made the game boring to me.
Ark of Truth Posted October 13, 2013 Author Posted October 13, 2013 That's why I go around with 3 crazy Filipino people Of which one is in a sexy red bodysuit! People complain about bugs but I have hardly ran into one and the game is in BETA. To be honest this game is more stable then some released games.
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I do wish they had offered a few more frame options at the start and that they weren't "gender locked".

Ark of Truth Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 I do wish they had offered a few more frame options at the start and that they weren't "gender locked". Doesn't worry me if things are gender locked. There are like 10 frames as its.....
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 There are a lot of frames once you get into the game and start farming the blueprints for them but the base frames you get to choose from at the start were severely limited or at least it was when I last tried the game.
Duoleb The Chosen Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 what did i missed? every mob its lvl 100 and i can't kill a single shit, even ruk is unkillable solo (my volt is lvl 30) im playing during my free time and well, the main level differecen now in my opinion its ridiculous, they forced the grind even more, ok that you can earn credits fast, but the alert missions are ridiculous now(lvl 95 to 100, and my weapons cant screath them, even my leveled strun)
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Solo play in general seems to be tougher. I just died in a mission that I cleared like there were no enemies at all a few months ago.
razzor69 Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 This game is like much more exciting when you at rank 6, and no pay to win shit MMO TPS, just farming grinding and leveling if you wanna be a bad ass Warframe
Mailamea Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 maps are expanded for those who have played the alpha and quit, lots of boss changes balance, like twin viper not being able to 24 clip kill captain vor now. event are so fun like the current event now. Kinda like star wars lol. And as of now there are no platinum exclusive frames and weapons, every weapon and frame can be taken for free well they need to farm the blueprints tho. as to gender lock its no prob there are 8 female frames and 7 males i think, and the stalker frame is coming out to. lots of new things too like expanding the block and sneak mechanic on their blogs
Ark of Truth Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Besides the game has "benefits" Suppose I should really fill the rest of the review in.
Cynical Misanthrope Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I just decided to install the game and see what's new. Spent maybe 30 minutes to fix all the settings that I had when I played. Some improvements for sure. Ran a few missions with different Frames, but after a while I just had enough. It's was not fun anymore. Also noticed I had been kicked out from the clan. Not strange since it was maybe 5 months I was logged in the last time. No biggies. This game is for sure best to play in a Clan or just straight Single Player. Random games with random players is just a big NO. It does not matter how much I decrease the ping limit. 8/10 I always end up with someone who has a crappy connection or crappy computer, unable to run the game it seems. Not to mention the retards...
Ark of Truth Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Added some screenshots Players shown are ArkScarlet and MiaScarlet. Video will be up during the week.
Mailamea Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 For me its fine as it is, i just hope theres some way to play deathmatch and extend beyond the 2v2 limitations
