What would a "slut" background look like?

Recommended Posts

Because the player can pick from multiple backgrounds, I can't help but wonder if modders would make their own class that's better suited for the usage of the inevitable surge of NSFW mods. Suppose if that happens, we could see a custom class who's background is that they're the village bicycle. What perks would you give to such a class?

To start off the thread, I'd go with the following

Persuasion - Based on my limited understanding of Starfield, speech checks are handled through a persuasion minigame, and I can definitely see prostitution mods using those systems to challenge the player when upselling their services to NPCs

Surveying - The Slut might have their own reasons for scientific pursuits while off in deep space.

Pistol Certification - Because bad dates are a thing, and having a hidden gun might come in handy in those situations.

Maybe you can split this and have Slut and Prostitute as their own options. While Slut could be more focused on having fun, Prostitute could be more "business" focused.

Slut - Pros:

Persuasion -> Seduction

Gymnastics-> Flexible and nimble from experience

Diplomacy -> I'm thinking along the line of slutting your way out of a fight

Slut - Cons:

Higher chance for Infections

Maybe some form of sex addiction

Prostitute - Pros:

Persuasion -> Seduction

Commerce -> Negotiate terms. More experience allows for better rates.

Pistols -> Better quick draw to catch troublesome clients by surprise.

Prostitute - Cons:

Lower reputation with authorities

Maybe a quest line about disgruntled pimp

Isn't commerce no different from Fallout 3/NV/4's Barter skill, where it's just a trade modifier? (buy/sell amounts are moved closer to an item's VAL value)

I imagine it'd make more sense for prostitution to be done through speech checks given a Bethesda game's logic

Also, the main reason i figured a "slut" background would have Surveying, i was more or less alluding to zoophilia since fauna would be among the things you'd study.

I feel like infections wouldn't make any sense in the setting. Most of them are curable/eradicated irl and the incurable ones would either be cured in a future setting or be a really odd choice to fetishize in a game.

I'd put a Slut entry into the Traits batch instead of Backgrounds. Given how limited the implementation of a background is, and you can be a slut with all kinds of backgrounds (soldier slut, surveyor slut, xenobiologist slut), it'd make more sense to me to have a trait that grants additional Persuasion choices, or an easier time convincing or charming companions, or an option to 'quell beasts'. Then just use Backgrounds to flavour your slut.

Perhaps a separate Runaway Prostitute trait, functioning like the Wanted trait, but there's a pimp after you and it can serve as an entry to a slavery mod. Or an alternate to the Adoring Fan trait where it's a groupie who just wants to have sex with you and then dumps you and leaves you in bondage, or with a parasitic alien who slowly transforms you unless you have sex a lot or some such.

My point is - traits, not backgrounds.

I would do both traits and backgrounds:

Backgrounds represent the character's profession and knowledge. In this case: Escort, Streetwalker, Stripper, Pornstar, Sextoy Tester, and so on.

Traits represent a character's inherent quirks and things that don't involve knowledge. Like Gorgeous, Slut, Rape Bait, Pierced, Pheromones, things like that.

I think this is probably a firm ground to stand on. Reminds me of the Aspration and Trait difference in Sims 4.

Background examples (I can't think of a good skill combination):

  • Pornstar
  • Streetwalker
  • Stripper
  • Sex Toy Tester
  • Breeder/Milk Maiden

Trait examples:

  • Slut: Faster arousal gains and slower arousal loss, opens extra persuasion dialogues
  • Rape Bait: Higher chance of getting raped, reduced penalty from being raped
  • Pheromones: Automatically gains a +1 bonus against opposite sex but requires extra efforts against same sex (Terrible thing, envy)
  • Milkshakes: Produces milk periodically (extra produces while pregnant)
  • Hyperfertility: Extra chance of getting pregnant, gains bonus while pregnant
  • Suction Addict: Gains bonus while having no oxygen left

All social related skills can pop up in persuasion checks as options like you are doing your sweet talking., including commerce.  I frequently find myself in persuasion checks where I see commerce options, manipulation options, negotiation options, etc come up as part of the minigame.

Also, backgrounds are your work history, not personal qualities.  Prostitute would work as a background as it is a profession, slut would make sense as a trait as it is part of the character's personality.  As such, a slut trait wouldn't make any kind of sense until we have frameworks and other mods to base how it would work mechanically.

As far as my picks for a prostitute background, I could easily see commerce and persuasion as top picks for 1st convincing some one to make use of your services and 2 to negotiate the price point.  I dislike pistols or any other combat skills and think that theft would be more fitting, as there are a hell of a lot more prostitutes that will steal your shit from you than know how to use a knife or a gun effectively.

well, adding backgrounds is a breeze.

open SFedit, copy a background into a new file without overriding, change name, description and perks.

It just loads the new ones in.

Nice ! The difficulty would then to have new dialog options related to these new backgrounds, like what exist with other backgrounds

Slut Persuasion, Ballistics, Scavenging or Theft

Whore: Ballistics, Persuasion, Commerce.   Trait: Neon Street Rat

Both would take Empath and Extravert for role-play reasons.

Would not take any religious trait or kid-stuff.

Alternate start for Whore, Neon.  For Slut any major city.

The standard start works for slut too - sluts work jobs too. Ordinary people who like to fuck. A lot. Lots and lots of fucking, not too fussed on the who part. So mine slut is a noble background too.

Of course. I'm imagining that there will be a Starfield version of LAL and CCAS if they don't already exist.  My current playthrough is a combo of whoring for housing, scavenging, sexual quests, etc.  The Ancient Profession for whoring, SLEN, Dirtyborn, Thief, Soulgem Oven, and a few other mods.  I have SS++ and places to be potentially sent, but as a thing to avoid.

I'll likely do something similar with Starfield and TES VI.

About five-eight, bottle blonde hair, fuck-me pumps, a too-short miniskirt and boobs hanging out of her halter-top?

I can pull off that style. Growing 1'4" might be a tall order taking an indefinite while though...

Everyone keeps suggesting pistol certification as a combat trait for prostitutes, but I have an alternate idea. Dueling. She keeps a knife in her boot/bodice/whatever. Who needs ammo or skill in aiming when you can just shank him in the ribs?
