barcido Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Hi to all, my old pc got damaged and I wanted to start skyrim with an fresh start on my current windows 11 pc. After downloading from steam, I started the game and it seem there are still old saves. Even when I start a new game, the carriage in the opening scene always freeze or to be more precise bumped into a rock and the horse is jumping up and down- the carriage won`t reach the town. What can I do to start without such bugs? I also want to play with mods but first the game should work without mods. I downloaded the normal Version of Skyrim (not the legendary Edition) - I use SKSE and I downloaded Vortex- only FINIS is installed. Hope someone can help a newbe like me. If someone also have a good working mod list for me, I would appreciate it very much. I remember that the order was important..... It will be so much work to start anew but I love skyrim. Thank you for in advance

The 'normal' version would be the original 2011 version with out any DLCs. Most mods require the DLCs - i.e. the Skyrim LE version. 2. The carriage bug is a well known bug of the vanilla game and nothing to do with mods or old save games. 3. If you want the vanilla game to first work without mods then you shouldn't have SKSE and FNIS installed. 4. You really need to do quite a bit of reading and watching tutorials before you start modding your game. 2
DarkBlade13 Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 (edited) The vanilla game should be working just fine. I do remember hitting something with the car myself in vanilla and I flew like a rocket ship acros the map XD. I honestly wouldn't bother too much with the carriage even in vanilla. To bypass this carriage issue I strongly suggest you don't install anything but the base vanilla game (not even skse). Then secondly I suggest you install a mod manager. Here I suggest you use vortex. I myself as a veteran modder still use this for it's simplicity (never used wabbajack it looks complicated). For you first mod you install USSEP (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/266). After that you can bypass any starting issue with the Alternate start (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/272). This mod saved me soo much time and should help you bypass any carriage issue. From that point you should be able to start a new journey. If you are going to install skse extract the folder somewhere and trow all of its content inside your skyrim folder. After you installed it, your folder should look something like this. Ps: if you installed FNIS I hope you also know how to put it as a tool in your vortex and run the program every single time you change something about the animations or use a mod that requires FNIS. You also need XP32 Maximum skeleton. Edited August 16, 2023 by DarkBlade13 1
Bastak21 Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 (edited) Ok jumping buggy carriage bug is very common in skyrim. By normal you mean I Guess skyrim 2011 version without and of the DLCs. Like DarkBlade13 mentioned I would strongly recommend you to use Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch but if you dont have DLCs this mod will not work. So I suggest you to use an alternate start mod I recommend you to use Extensible Alternate Start (I also use this too). Also don't use the links DarkBlade13 mentioned if you dont have Special Edition/Anniversary Edition. Special edition mods and 2011 skyrim mods are not compatible together. Last time when I played skyrim (155 hours bevor my pc broke ) was in 2017 - so I forgot a lot. I used then the nexus mod manager. It was difficult to understand how I arrange the mod order. I just tried it out until it worked, Today I downloaded now vortex - I guess it is a little bit like the old one mod manager. Is in vortex the mod order also important? p.s. Thank you I remember putting FNIS into the mod manager and launching the game with the FNIS Button. good point

Danke nochmal They are helped here: Ultimately, it will all come down to this - that their Skyrim becomes an Ae version ... they lack the necessary knowledge for a clean installation of SE (backporting from AE to SE). 1

Thank you again İf you have skyrim 2011 version and All DLCs that means you have Skyrim Legendary edition. Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch should fix your starting carriage problem but unfortunately 32bit skyrim(skyrim LE) crashes a lot compared to SE/AE version, you can kill your saves just with a couple of mods so I also suggest you to use Crash fixes and Safety Load. These mods are mandatory for heavily modded games will save your life too many times. There is also Load Game CTD Fix İf you encounter crash during loading a save but I heard it causes bug sometimes and it doesn't always fix the crashing so only use it if you think its necessary. I hope these mod helps you? Edited August 16, 2023 by bastak2341

You do not launch the game with FNIS. You launch FNIS from the mod manager. FNIS only handles animations it has nothing to do with launching the game. DarkBlade13 Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 (edited) Loading order in vortex doesn't matter. The only time when it matters is when you have files that conflict. If this is the case vortex will inform you and ask wich one should be loaded first. If you have the space on your computer it also really helps to keep a clean version of your game in another location. The mods are stored in a folder away from you game. This means that if you disable all your mods in vortex. Then remove your game / replace with clean one, it is like you never played before. You will keep you game save because they are stored in a third location. Game saves do require the mods they got when playing although quite a few mods can be disabled during gameplay. To clean saves there is something called FallRimtools with resaver. Edited August 17, 2023 by DarkBlade13
