Bodyslide and still crashing

Recommended Posts

So my bodyslide only shows the body presets and not the clothes. And it will only do the clothes physics and not the chest physics. It also says when I go under steam/steamapps/common/skyrim/Data  and click bodyslidex64 that it failed to load up Setup.xrc file.  So my skyrim is still crashing and I can't figure out why. I downloaded some things to help me figure out what is crashing it, but I don't understand it.

We will need a ton more information before being able to give meaningful help, as we are missing the magical crystal ball ?

Are you using Mod Organizer, Vortex or something else? With those 2 you need to install Bodyslide as any other mod in it, and launch from it. You don't normally need the File explorer at all when dealing with mods, because your mod manager does all that for you. Using it wrong way will lead to armors/clothes not showing in Bodyslide.

This part is confusing, Bodyslide is only a thing outside the game not in it. Bodyslide cannot show any physics but it can build things to support it ingame.

Basically as a first time user after you know that everything shows in the Outfit list, select a preset you will always want to use, click "Toggle Morphs" On and then "Batch build...". It will open dialog where in the first one is dozens of things in a list, keep everything selected and continue to next window. Now you should be getting some options to choose from. Keep selecting same topics, like if you have CBBE body then use only CBBE related toggles, if you want HDT then enable those etc... Once it has built they are ready for playing.

Later on you may opt to use the Group Filters because building everything takes time, but you do need to build everything at least once or if you change the preset.

Anyways, Bodyslide very rarely have anything to do with crashes. You might want to make your modding setup with help of some guide page from web. Bodyslide generates or modifies meshes. Lack of them ingame should only result in red triangles, not crashing.

Also the number 1 mistake new people do is download Skyrim LE mods for SE or vice versa. They can cause big issues on wrong Skyrim version.

It won't show the armors in batch build

Do the armors actually support Bodyslide? Not all do, but you can see from mod description.

Oh wait I needed to update bodyslide. That I remember yes, the armor shows up know, but still no chest physics. I am using the BHUNP body.

At least you need a skeleton that has chest bones... If you are on Special Edition then this one:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1988

The LE version of it is called XPMSE.

Again if you are on SE then when you install Faster SMP you get lots of options for which parts of the body you want to support physics.

RaceMenu might also be a required mod.

When creating and saving a preset, you need to specify which Outfit Groups this preset should be available for.
Simply select the body, then select the preset and save the preset under a new name with "Save as" - also select all outfit groups.

PS: Bodyslide doesn't do anything with physics. Physics is done via Havok or Bullet and uses Bones. If your armor has no skinn for these bones, the bones will move (if the correct skeleton is installed - e.g. XPMSE), but no bone movement will be seen on the armor.

Ok so when you download hdt smp you also need to download tbbp bbp right?

No, *BBP (Breast and Body Physics) is a different physics system and you have to choose between it/them or HDT. Also "Faster SMP" is better than "HDT SMP", more stable and faster.

Also you still never said if you are on Skyrim LE, SE or AE? It determines which file versions you should be downloading. (And stops us from giving you non-relevant instructions...)

SE has also popular one CBPC.

Then you just need HDT-PE (Physics Extensions) and XPMSE. May also add the realistic ragdolls:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/601

Then be mindful to build all HDT options in Bodyslide when there is a choice. If you wear vanilla armors then you have no body physics, only when taking the armor off, so you might need a different clothing and armor replacer mod.

(Ignore the SMP talk, it's for Skyrim SE/AE)

My goodness. So few lines and so much nonsense:

BBP, TBBP are not physical systems, but describe the use of bones for the skin of a mesh. No more and no less.

HDT SMP is not only available for SE/AE, but also for Skyrim LE - it was originally developed by Hydro for LE.

Should one use HDT SMP? Not really, since HDT PE has the same range of functions as SMP, but works directly using Havok, i.e. the physics engine of the game, while SMP is the Bullet Engine. The only advantage of SMP is that you don't have to define the shapes yourself.

But that's also the disadvantage - the shapes are calculated by the skin of the vertices - that really costs performance.
While you can easily equip all characters at the same time with HDT PE, with SMP the performance breaks down with just a few NPCs.

Which body is used is ultimately just a matter of taste.
One can use BBP, TBBP, HDT Body etc. Whether the physics is good and believable depends on the skin (strength of the bone weights) and the corresponding XML.

So choose the body you like best and use XMPSE skeleton in any case.

And leave the nonsense with realistic ragdolls - that has exactly ZERO to do with the topic.
