Breaking Hearts

I've... always been hard to pin down for long and this has left more than a few casualties I dare say. I'm not proud of it. But at the same time I'm not ashamed either because I value honesty above all else and if it doesn't feel right, I move on while being careful to not make a commitment until sure. So yeah... I've broken some hearts. Part of the game, right? Well, I can't help but feel sympathetic since I've had my little heart broken so many times.

Tell me about your experiences...

Eva, really? I highly doubt you've even met all the people that adore you and know they can never have you. ;)

Do I regret it?

“When you give yourself permission to communicate what matters to you in every situation you will have peace despite rejection or disapproval. Putting a voice to your soul helps you to let go of the negative energy of fear and regret.”

Thing about breaking up with someone is that you (I) always think back as to why. As I reflect on the situation and the person, I remember why I didn't want to continue. Do you think it's true that we all know much more about what we don't want than what we actually want? Or is there even more involved?

I've got this one girl in mind that I burned. Pretty much she was idealistic for me- a perfect match so to speak. However, there was something "off" about us in my mind, my heart. I broke up with her and she never forgave me for it. Still look back and think if I made the right decision and I always come to the same conclusion.

But still....

I was the idiot who was seriously head over heals for a string of women who seriously weren't.  Repeatedly.  It took a few, but I finally figured it out.  Got tired of hurting and just put it down and walked away.  That was probably ten years ago now.  While I remember the specific date (interaction) clearly, I don't remember the calendar date, but do remember the serious self sit-down and analytical breakdown of what I'd just wasted my time on, though.  Not having what I truly want sucks, but it's just not worth the pain.  Then, of course, being in the States, there's the legal side, which is a whole can of worms.  Now, instead of hurting, I laugh at all the "Where are all the good guys???" stuff on various platforms.  Yeah, I'm not Mr. Perfect.  Not even close.  But I'm not asking for much, either - and it's still too much, apparently.

Oh well and anyhow.  Meh.

Edit:

Just had an interesting conversation with a young man I've known since he was a kid on the subject of women.  Consensus: Women are horrendously expensive, and unless you're getting what you're paying for, it's just not worth it (and even then, the ROI is seriously questionable, and negative).  He told me what he spends on his girlfriend - one who has done things that makes it so that he knows he'll never marry her -  and yet he still spends time, and loads of money, on her.  I guess the sex really is that good.  Seems silly to me now, but I guess my interest in the only thing women had to offer me dried up right quick when they kept stringing me along.  The fact is, she doesn't love him, or even like him for him. It's all about the STUFF he can provide her, in exchange for sex, and he was up front about that fact; he knows exactly what's going on.  That's it, period, end of discussion.  Example, he's got a beautiful car that goes for serious money in car circles - but it's old enough that no heat or air conditioning.  She sees no value in it and wants him to get rid of it.  Fortunately, he sees right through it.

As a certain extremely well known billionaire put it: (paraphrase) "We both know why we're here.  To act like you don't know in today's day and age just doesn't work.  You either give me what I'm here for, or I'm gone."

Kinda crass way of putting it, but true, and I'm gone.  Buh bye!

What breaks my heart is that women can never, and will never love men as men love women.  It's all about the gold, whether directly, or indirectly in the form of goods and services provided.  Such an ugly truth.  As he stated, "Relationships today are weird."  I truly envy those folks who actually have some semblance of an actual loving relationship in today's world, rather than just 'you pay me, I provide good/service' transactional relationship.  Again, from him "She wants all the benefits of a relationship, but NOT to call it a relationship, and thus be "tied down" to one man."  Sounds about right from what I've observed.
