BananaMage Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Hello, I was unable to find any post/thread related to the journal so I will ask here. Is it possible to turn the sexlab journal into an ingame item that updates itself ? So that you would be able to open a book and see the stats in there.
Ashal Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 To elaborate and come off as a little less dickish: It's no not because I don't want do it, I would do it. It's no because you can't change the contents of books, they are static. At best it'd have to be setup where when you opened the book, a dialog window popped up and showed the stats, which would in my opinion, completely destroy the point of making it a book in the first place.
lordofthedread Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 If my memory serves well theres a book with My Home is Your Home allowing you to track wholives where without any pop up involved. The book is called Book of Homies if I am not mistaken, I personally never really used it and probably never would use a SexLab log this way but here you go.
Ashal Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 They can contain replacement text, where a certain pattern in the text gets replaced by something else. This is how you are able to have stuff like the player's name in books. I could do it that way, but it would require a complete change to how those stats are stored in the scripts, and to ways I'd rather not change it to for the sake of consistency with other similiar stuff in the mod.
Ashal Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Well fuck. Now that you got me thinking about it a bunch, it actually wouldn't be to huge of a leap from the current implementation. So now I'm considering it. My main opposition to it though is that it wouldn't be as expandable as the current MCM implementation. With 1.20 I've add the ability for other sexlab mods to register their own custom stats that show up in the MCM diary page, I don't think I'd be able to carry that functionality over to a book, since you can't "add" to a book, only replace bits of tagged text. The main sexlab stats would be easy enough though.
shinji72 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Maybe is stuff for a mod, rather than the framework.... Like a whore mod which allows keeping a journal. I remember an interactive vampire diary from Belua Sanguinaria mod. I mean it has to make sense. Why there should be a book with the PC's sexual activities? Just to remove the hassle to check the MCM is not enough, IMO
PenguinDust Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I asked about this a few months ago. http://www.loverslab.com/topic/18966-request-sex-journal-in-book-form/?do=findComment&comment=439872 I am glad to see I wasn't the only one who liked the idea.
azmodan22 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 There is also a book that I think changes contnet in the Falskaar mod. It tells what your bounty is. I never even opened it though. Well fuck. Now that you got me thinking about it a bunch, it actually wouldn't be to huge of a leap from the current implementation. So now I'm considering it. My main opposition to it though is that it wouldn't be as expandable as the current MCM implementation. The main sexlab stats would be easy enough though. In that case, If a mod adds its own stats in the MCM, then the author of that mod would have to make an "update" of the book too, in order to include those stats there as well. Can't that be done?
Madmartigan34 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 If you consider changes, Ashal, please consider adding the name of the person/thing you've engaged in Sex with the most? Oh, and I support the book thing... if its not a stupid hassle. Rock on, rockstars!
Ivana Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I've been playing as a bard using "http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/31680//?" In it, there is a book that keeps track of each performance you had at various places and it updates instantly. This would appear to have the functionality requested in this thread?
