Well this has interesting implications. Implied Vore though I have yet see it actually happen in the game.

Yeah, someone want to try explaining this whole section without it being a fetish thing? As far as I could find, there's zero additional context.

Challenge accepted!

The person that had that dream binge watched all anaconda movies. Then he had the nightmare when he went to sleep.

If you check the messages left on the same computer you learn that the guy was getting high off one of the plants they were studying and begain hallucinating dreams about getting devoured by a giant space snake or something like how the Va'ruun do.

Can confirm, one of the flora has psychoactive effects they suspect is effecting the researchers. But it's implied it must be burned first, maybe in the process of analyzing it.

Another big issue I see with critter sex is most of them are on planets where humans require spacesuits and can't walk around nude or have their suits torn open or they die fast. So it sorta breaks the immersion side. So, we would need mods to make all planets breathable.

So mild spoilers for starfield (basically don't click the spoiler if you don't wanna be spoiled, but TLDR there is an ingame way to deal with this problem as long as someone can find the proper way to mod it) but

Spoiler

the personal atmosphere power allows players to get away with not wearing a space suit and suffocating, so a mod that simply enables that functionality on power unlock could be the best way to deal with this issue while also being lore friendly, since you're already getting powers that break the laws of physics.

Alternatively, someone could mod the Alien DNA trait to make one immune to O2 damage (be it toxic atmosphere or lack thereof) at the cost of making the player character more "compatable" with the critters.

Check this out:

ALIENS EDITION - FACEHUGGER MASK at Starfield Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com)

Something like this could be part of a sexualized Alien type mod. Maybe an alternative that uses the Heatleech. I'd like to see something different, narrative wise, for the Terrormorph life cycle. Some weird tree that turns heatleeches into full grown Terrormorphs really made me go...o.O.

Or Heatleeches turning humans into Terrormorphs :)

That makes much more sense than how Terrormorphs can be instantly be born from a heatleach transformed by mystical tree dust. I'm still trying to figure out what they were smoking when I found that out.

One thing that I think could be done for mods in the "business management" side of things would be to have quest lines where you collect DNA samples from a combination of both living and dead critters for the purposes of cloning them, which could allow you to set up a venue that could best be described as a live porn theatre where you can watch women have sex with the critters you have cloned, or perhaps do them yourself and get a randomly generated tip based on the level of your Commerce skill (or if you even have it at all)

I would not put it past a corporation like Weyland-Yutani exploring the possibility of crossbreeding alien life forms and humans for uh.."military" purposes or subjugating both non-human and human species throughout the galaxies.   Usually by hiring unsuspecting explorers and mercenaries to be unknowing subjects of their projects.

Biggest sin of starfield IMO is that "Pets were abandoned on earth" bs for explanation why there are no dogs, cats or other animals

I'm really hoping someone will bring them back so we can have bunch of good dogs 🤭 running around our ships/bases

Lore wise, all it takes is the discovery of a DNA cache somewhere. Maybe some frozen embryos in a derelict ship somewhere.

I'm sure someone will do it.

I agree, its a dumb explanation. Embryos can be frozen and kept in a vaultlike installation. Same with seed, spores, DNA. It doesn't make any sense that humanity completely abandoned Earth's biosphere.

I will throw BGS a bone (pun intended) and assume

Spoiler

that like the invention of the grav drive it was Starborn shenanigans were the real cause. Much like the Vorlons in Babylon 5, they fucked around with the timeline and were able to manipulate important figures into making decisions that don't make logical sense. Same explanation for why none of the nations of Earth transplanted their governments and cultures but instead submitted to the United Colonies. It was the Starborn.
