YumiChan19 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I was curious who on LoversLab is the most knowledgeable and or most proficient when it comes to modding skyrim? I personally am programming stupid and wouldn't even know where to start when making a mod. However I do have some interesting, albeit complicated ideas for mods and was curious who i could talk to and see if my ideas are even possible to make. I have the mod all hashed out with details and such in a text document, but have no idea who to bring it to. Any help would be much appreciated. -Thanks.

But instead of asking one modder directly, my advice for you would be to simply post your ideas and ask the whole community. By asking everyone you also get the experience of everyone, and not only from a single person.

The only thing I'd consider myself "good" at is scripting, I am dumb as a rock when it comes to animations, shaders and how most of the other stuff works in the creationkit that doesn't have to do directly with scripting. I'll take any of those aspects and plug them into a script for use well enough, but ask me to do anything outside of that and I'll stare at you dumbfounded. If it's a scripting question I feel I can answer it with some level of authority, but anything else and all you're really asking me to do is scratch my head confused while I google you an answer.

Well, I considered YumiChan19's question to be mainly about scripting, that's why I mainly ignored the other (in fact major) parts of modding with my answer. Of course I am aware that "best modder" can't really be answered, since I doubt anyone is a master of at least half of every modding aspect. Though maybe there is actually an answer: The best modder is the LL-community. That's why I adviced to simply post the question rather than asking a single person.

The modders on LL are pretty amazing. granted most of the ones I talk with are from the fallout section like halstrom and use29 chancelor kremllin etc not too familiar with the other areas of LL
gregathit Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Most modders tend to specialize in one game or another. It isn't that they "can't" do stuff for other games, it is just that there tends to be fairly large differences in how things are accomplished. This tends to discourage folks from trying to mod multiple games at one time. Bottom line, either use threads like this to ask specific questions or contact someone who is doing something similar to what you are working on, to get an answer when you get stuck. Most modders here at LL will take the time to help you get over a speedbump or two, provided you are patient with them getting back to you (remember they have lives too) and don't forget about being polite!.
