...the MNC version you use

even worse if you also use ABC HDT with MNC

but when?

on start up

main screen?

in LAL?

early game?

regularly but randomly while playing?

at a certain place?

it varies, sometimes it's when i load, other times it's a few seconds into gameplay, i'll try using both 8.0+ of zap and the link you've posted, which i can't thank you enough for even if they may not work.

The PAHE series is a bit complicated to install, because all parts need to be compatible to each other.

I'm not sure if you installed the pahe series correct or if you use all the newest versions.

For example I don't see Pahe_Dwarven_Devious_suits.esp, which shows up if you choose DD compatibility during installation of PAHE (installer check box)

did you get far enough into the game to see the conflicts?

not from what i can tell but thanks for informing me about it

Of course I can't tell from here why exactly you get CTD.

That's why I just look for things that hurt my modding feelings, at least on first glance.

Kind of an exclusion procedure.

O.M.G.

5 years ago it would probably have looked the same to me.

Install everything and then press START ... and wonder why nothing works - i.e. CdT.

---

How about ... first flatten everything via atomic option and start all over again ... and do it STEPWISE!

First install the vanilla game and test without everything if it runs at all

and then work your way forward step by step ... Install and test

This is the only way to find out ... which mod was possibly faulty or incomplete.

Yes - that takes time ... possibly a lot of time ... but it also leaves room for a LEARNING CURVE

(because until now I have the impression that the terad-creator does not know what he is doing ... and yes - I used to be like that ... once ... 5 years ago)

---

Exclusion procedure ... is mostly a matter of luck with sooo many mods

I agree, but what else can ya do?

That would work best.

I remember I was way too horny to do anything that controlled during the first modding experiments. ?

Ich stimme zu, aber was kann man sonst noch tun?

Das würde am besten funktionieren.

Ich erinnere mich, dass ich bei den ersten Modding-Experimenten viel zu geil war, um irgendetwas zu tun, was kontrolliert. ?

I have gone through the list ... at my current speed with installing and testing -> approx. 1 week with 6-8 hours of effort every day.

with some mods you have to get out of the LAL initial cell and play certain things.

I even looked for a page on the net where the names of the individual "room cells" of Skyrim were listed ... for the "fast travel" with the commando command "coc

and after each major mod group ... recreate a new character from scratch ... because even the first save state after leaving the race menu can already contain "errors".

I do it all in reverse. I drop a bunch of mods I don't know yet into the game and if something doesn't work I build back until the left overs are stable.

Usually you can guess from the mod page how bad it can get. For example: no install instructions, no pointers at possible conflicts, no explanation about the included files and above all: needs a separate patch for nearly everything, mod zips with files all over the place, old patches that do more harm than fix anything and so on.

My tactic can easily create confirmation bias if the base setup isn't stable and the "basic mods" aren't well known.

If the basic mods (that's 450 mods for me) are well known and usual clusterfucks are cured via MCM settings, you can drop lots of stuff on top and quickly see who is a bad mod.

From my experience if you leave the LO sequence intact, work with placeholders and leave installed esm alone and add new mods as replacers or at the end of the LO you can test new mods on an active game.

Mostly it's bigger frameworks you can't just drop into an active game and hope for the best (DD for example.).

The most sensitive mods are LL mods, means those need to be added first and work.

Quest mods and the like can easy added/removed as do standalone equipment mods.

Gets ugly if you remove mods that effected many NPC or work with scripts that get saved and would need to be stopped first before uninstalling anything.

so after a fresh install and now the game runs, well i have no idea what's caused this, as this was both a fresh install and there's no mods that affect textures, and steam seems to think there's no files missing

Looks like missing textures ... that's why the "blue" colour

how this happens?

After the installation you should start Skyrim once in the "original" way - without SKSE

the point is that the game engine has to set up paths for itself ... so also where it finds things like textures

then it is started "normally" via SKSE.

This intermediate step is also necessary if you have installed Bodyslide ... the program with which you adjust the meshes for clothing and armour or create them at all.

True, they are all missing =D

What mod manager are you using again?

Did you ever install something manually? Did you check if the Skyrim folder was clean after de-installing Skyrim?

Did you install an ENB with requirements that are now missing?

I only believe that if I see a modlist!

You installed Racemenu, I wonder what else.

Do you have a mod with an active plugin but no files attached (or a pure mesh replacer that needs textures).

Did you leave all mods/plugins active while reinstalling Skyrim? ?

On the bright side: You found the error!

Also interesting to see what happens if MO2 thinks you're playing SE o.o
