How to fix invisible tops/ bottoms of outfits

There's a number of clothing mods that come with separate tops and bottoms (and other parts).

 

In some cases, you when you put on the top it makes the bottom invisible (even if it's still equipped) and vice versa. Is there a guide to how to fix this? I vaguely recall that it's not that difficult if you know how... but I don't =/

Most likely culprits are SOS and Devious Devices. For SOS, mark the top as 'revealing' in its MCM. For DD, there's a 'Device Hider' option in its MCM you can try.

I realize I described the problem wrong - when I went back to apply what you told me, it turns out the top/bottom actually does get unequipped.

 

It's really strange... when I first get the clothes I put on the top and the bottom and it works. But as soon as my PC has worn the clothes once equipping one unequips the other. I put on the top, great. I put on the bottom and the top unequips. Then I put the top back on and the bottom is unequipped.

 

Could it have something to do with assigned slots? And if so, where do I check and edit that?

NifSkope and xEdit. Make sure the assigned slots are identical in ARMOR ADDON, ARMOR in the plugin and the partitions under BSDismemberSkinInstance in the nif file.

... turns out it was the SOS thing after all. Thanks for your help
