Okay, basically there's generally 2 types of committees: Cabinet (Like I was) and Assembly (UN General Assembly and Security Council for the most part). Each one has a certain amount of delegates (Cabinets is around 10, Assembly can be anything from 10 to 50 in some MUNs). Cabinet delegates have government positions assigned, like I was the Minister of Defense of the West German Cabinet (1989 Historical topic). Each delegate has to do research and act according to his country and/or ministry's interests. This is usually reflected in the Position Paper, which sums up your position on the topic (I won the award for best position paper, cause writing skills). People basically have a debate on certain topics, in my case it was German Reunification, but others had to discuss Climate Change, the situation in Syria, etc. Whoever argues the best, wins, at least in theory. Usually what happens is that the one with the most points wins, even if that person is just saying bull (Which happened twice in my committee this year, and happens in just about every committee). So basically the guys with the most participation won even though they contributed nothing, except for the second place, which was a delegate my "alliance" was using to speak (I was doing a lot of under the table negotiations and using the rules to manipulate the debate to our favour). It was really fun, we arrested the East German Foreign Minister, conspired to become communist, saw two Heads of State assasinated, etc.
