I could use some advice re: consistent freezing and load failing

Final update: Missing eyes and clothes issue fixed. Possibly something to do with AA. Thread has now run its course. Thanks for the advice folks. If a mod comes by, feel free to lock this thread.

Update: Ran SMCO. So far no obvious ill effects from that. Fast travelled to Whiterun rather than go through Riverwood, and avoided that crash. Not been back to Riverwood since. Yet to attempt to load up my savegame today though.

Heya'll

Currently I have two problems. Possibly related.

Firstly, I seem to crash when getting to within a seemingly specific distance of Riverwood. This has happened on the past two attempts, and I felt that the game hung at roughly the same distance out from Riverwood.

Secondly, I cannot seem to load savegames which were made in the exterior worldspace at the moment. Certainly any save games made between travelling from Bleak Falls Barrow back to Riverwood, or indeed in Riverwood itself. Any save game made within Bleak Falls Barrow, or the Riverwood trader, for e.g. do however succesfully load. To my knowledge, only one mod I have modifies the Riverwood locale - SOS.

I'm just about to run Skyrim Mods Complex Organiser v1.4.2, to see whether that changes anything (sans .nif optimisation).

If you need any more information, please let me know.

Any advice/input would be welcome.

Disable half of the mods and if you get crashes, reenable them, but disable the other half. If you don't ctd with the other half disabled, start enabling those mods in halves also until you narrow it down. lol

i second what nooblet123 says + i read that Birds of Skyrim causes errors, so i stopped using it just to avoid them, even tho i never had any problems with it before.

Besides that: Merge some of your mods, especially the armor mods, to reduce the amount of loaded plugins. Greatly adds to stability. The max is 255, but Skyrim noticably looses stability if you reach 180.

Not to mention, that you only have 6GB of RAM. With so many mods, you better run ENBoost, because as soon as 5GB of sys ram is filled, windows starts paging out the game, what leads to ctds. Windows will preserve 1GB of ram, so free some ram before playing skyrim and/or use ENBoost. You should have 3GB of free sys ram, before you start Skyrim. 4GB w/o ENBoost.

Thank you both for the replies.

Done some testing with the following: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/41592//? (Stable uGrids to load SKSE plugin), and so far, that has helped a lot. I still get crashes in-game which I am pretty certain are memory related rather than script, however, using that plugin has helped reduce the crashing a lot, as well as reduce the save game loading failure rate. I'll also investigate ENBoost.

Agree I use this and little lag and hardly any CTD, But I also can no longer save in worldspace, have to find a nice little home with a empty cell and autosave as Manual or quick are kill save options for me.

Aye, whilst I realise that the USKP readme says that they should be the first to be loaded after the .esms, that load order was sorted with BOSS, and that is the order BOSS dictacted. Also, it makes sense anyway.

My latest papyrus logs show that there is a problem with skyBirds. Shame really, it added a significant amount of atmosphere to the game. I'll see how the game is with it disabled. Other than that, stability has been a bit better.

if you keep the BSA in data:

just open up skyrim.ini and add the HighResTexturePack01.BSA, HighResTexturePack02.BSA, HighResTexturePack03.BSA

under the BSA section for textures and that should do the same thing. it will even safe you 3 new slots for esp in your loadorder.

if your pc is not up to par installing this DLC will even have advert effects on your game.

Right. So I'm now running with ENBoost v5.0 with the v0.217 ENB binaries. So far, things seem to be a bit smoother.

My next problem though - none of the characters, mine included, have eyes. Has anyone ever encountered, or heard of such an issue whilst using ENBoost or ENB?
