Omnishade Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 According to Arthmoor Bethesda did some optimization to the code for the AE version, but I've read comments on reddit stating that there are no conclusive evidence that AE performs better. In the cases that it did, it was a very minor improvement. The only reason I want to use SE right now is because SL Survival's inflation potion only works fully with v1.5.97 of the game. I know that's a questionable reason, but if there are no obvious advantages of running AE, I might as well downgrade and get better compatibility in general. What is your experience?
Guest Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 doubt that mods ever been updated further then it is but yes 16640 has improvements over 1597 like GPU compatibilities and stuff but the number of dead mods still using 1597 puts you in a fine place..
KoolHndLuke Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Tried AE for the hell of it. Went back to SE in a few days for mods. Didn't run or look any better from what I could tell.
jinnykrage Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Well, the 1 great benefit to AE is support for 3bav2 bones, so body physics look pretty amazing for latest 3bbb body and graphics are nicer. The downside is I am still having trouble sos to function well in AE (no in game sliders and up/down adjustments).

I tried it out because I wanted to see if it was any good, and I was more disappointed than a pirate digging up a chest only to find nothing but rocks inside. Also, the lack of mods being compatible with AE made it even more disappointing.

There is hardly anything that is incompatible with the latest executable of Special Edition (though one might have to look for the updates by other mod developers or complete replacements). I haven't even had to discontinue mod usage with the Good Old Games Anniversary Edition complete bundle (which, incidentally, really is located in an Anniversary Edition folder).
FauxFurry Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 The improvements in performance are not something that anyone will likely notice under light to moderate mod load, especially with a rig that already performs decently. I can tell that certain things load faster off of a solid state drive but then again, that might just be because the Anniversary Edition GOG version has no Steam DRM bogging things down so that the initial mod data load up on new game is seconds rather than minutes. It might be more accurate to attribute the improvements to GOG rather than the executable upgrade.
