Sexlab strip settings visual bug

Recommended Posts

Posted this question in the sexlab se forum, but decided to make a post about it in case another mod was causing the problem, as I couldn't find anything regarding this specific issue online.

not sure how to quote from a different post so this is a copy paste of what i posted:

having 2 issues that i couldn't find an answer to;

first issue is regarding foreplay animations. disabling foreplay on the sexlab menu does nothing, however increasing the time between foreplay animations does something, so is there a reason why disabling the animation has no effect?

second issue is regarding stripping; i reset my strip overrides to work from a blank slate (went into overwrite folder and deleted old sexlab config settings as well). the problem is during foreplay -> normal or aggressive scene transitions, the armor stripping noises are made and appear unequipped in the inventory but are still present on the player (equipping and unequipping an item unequips all visuals properly however).

nothing's overriding my sexlab framework except for SLSO, so not sure why the foreplay and strip options aren't working properly. using version 1.63 with skyrim 1.5.97 if that matters at all

Never used foreplay, it's always been disabled and it has always worked (no foreplay). I don't have much good to say about SLSO, so I wouldn't be surprised if at least some of that was its fault. Then again, been years since I last tried that.

As for unequipped armor still being visually equipped, that sounds like something only a dll could mess up. I'd maybe start with DD (in general) or Engine Fixes for no specific reason, just a gut feeling.

would there be any reason the dll stops working properly?

Well if I'm not mistaken, there's been cases before where Engine Fixes prevented or otherwise messed with morph updates. If that is correct then it has its fingers in node updates (I'd imagine) which sounds about right for why your clothes may be visually stuck on you. Again, if this is correct I do not suspect Engine Fixes to be faulty, I mean it's not broken for me and that's proof enough, but rather its a combination of things. So yes, a dll can stop working if the environment it is in changes.

Edit: Refering to this thread.

Not exactly sure what "nothing" is. For my game, it simply replaces a timed armor removal (this then that then that other thing...)  for a mass armor removal (ie all at once) event - according to your other settings on which gear is automatically removed or forced left on. It just skips the "slow" strip sequence. But it doesn't remove the finite delay while the actors and amination sequences are setup, so you'll still find it idles a bit.

Isn't that what it does with yours?

oops, should probably edit original post, yeah i just messed around a bit more and the foreplay function works properly, its just some mods i guess skip foreplay entirely. still currently trying to figure out why items dont equip visually but only in the inventory. any ideas?

Hmmm I've seen this before many times. Not sure. Possibly some pointer gets caboshed. or a buffer gets mangled or the item-refresh routinebreaks or... ????

I generally associate it with: exit the game (to desktop) gracefully, clean up what can be cleaned, and fire back up. If it persists, it's usually punt time to sometime before it started rearing its head. Lousy advise I know, but in the end it usually saves me a lot of time, since some breaks are terminal, even if a save can be opened.

found a post with a similar issue, but seems like the fix for this was to manually set items as always remove, never remove, sometimes remove, etc.

is there no fix for the default timers and stripping options? would i just have to resort to manually stripping items that arent removed properly?

There is that. SL has a submenu for strip items, and it governs what is and isn't removed during the pre-animation setup (and return from)

But that shouldn't result in your seeming to be equipped when you're not or visa versa.

Although... one - or more - of the MCMs (SL, Defeat, etc) has a checkbox for "redress after" and you'll remain undressed unless it's checked (or visa versa). Again though it shouldn't result in checking inventory and seeing something equipped when it isn't (or visa versa). That to me is a "hiccup"

I'll try n play around with the redress settings in other SL mods and see if it works. A new game doesnt fix this issue so it definitely has to be another mod. hopefully will be able to figure out which mod is interfering in case others have this issue.

Also, if you happen to be in TFC camera mode at the time when this happens, try switching back to third person. Occasionally, while in TFC mode (ie, detached from player vertex), some clothing/armor/etc items aren't refreshed correctly for some reason, so their onscreen visual is equipped when not really equipped anymore, or not visually equipped once it/they are actually equipped

*some reason - beyond my ability and or patience to identify. some glitch of unknown origin, SkyrimAi The Merciless, torturing its hapless players. etc.

that might be it, going to test now!

edit: yeah that worked, haven't tried switching from tfc to non tfc after the strip effect, but i'm sure that would update the effects after foreplay scenes. thanks a bunch dude
