Honest question about ported mods

Why are mods "ported" instead of changed to the current game version, Vortex tells me, "designed for a different game".  Any mods from quest mods to clothing mods, animations, well you get the point....

I know very little about what is required, I just wondered.

Education is why I am asking.

Edit; removed my dumb question.

It just means the plugin is Form 43 (LE), instead of Form 44 (SE). If the mod works anyway, just ignore it.

The short version of it is: don't worry about it, worry way more to see if you're actually getting ported files and not downloading LE mods. If your mod manager doesn't shut up about it or prevents you from doing something because of it, that's stupid design.

For instance when using DX clothing mods with CBBE curvy I have to have 2-3 mods installed to get the effect instead of one mod that does the same, would really cut down on my total plugin count that's for sure.

I don't know how this has anything to do with ported mods retaining form 43.

Load them one time in construction set, change anything and undo it, save the file and the message is gone. Porters are lazybones, and do not do not necessary changes,

You are right, Sorry to confuse the two issues, I am not having any issues with the mods identified as "designed for a different game" I was just wondering why aren't they "reworked" so they are made for SE, not LE?

That's because DeserterX originally made a lot of their clothing mods for vanilla body shape and UNP-compatible bodyslide (because that was the most popular on LE long time ago). Years passed and we have SE, and currently CBBE and CBBE-derivatives rule supreme. Whenever a port is being made an original mod is ported straight up. They usually do not revisit older mods to provide updated sliders, because that would be a lot of overhead to keep up with the changing tastes and trends. Currently, you have: UNP, UUNP, UNPB, BHUNP, Oppai, 7B, TBD, TopModel, CBBE, 3BBB, 3BA, 3BAv2... need I go on? No sane person could keep up with it, especially when their mods are decade old.

Conversions are most often done by other people. And permission-wise they are not allowed to upload the modified original mod, because this is not their intellectual property. Best they can do is provide bodyslide files and you still need an original mod or a permitted conversion to use it. There are also texture upscales. Those need original mod as well. So in those cases you need: original outfit mod (LE or sanctioned conversion), a Bodyslide files for your body type and upscaled textures. Those are 3 mods, but you are wrong in assuming all three of them have plugins. Only original mod has a plugin. The two others are only texture and data files. If any of those come with a plugin for any reason (say it adds High Heel Sound support where the original did not have it), it overwrites an original plugin. You don't get extra plugins, you always have only one.

In conversions, plugins are usually a fair game, but anything beyond that - assets, meshes, even textures belong to the original mod author. If the author gives a permission to convert something, their original assets need to be used and they still belong to them, not the person who made the conversion.

I started with UNP and liked it very much but the clothing was too limited, so I switched to CBBE Curvy. Thank You for a well thought out explanation. I have sooo much to learn, only been modding since spring 2020.

I started with Oblivion but I know of some people that would consider it a rookie number. There's always a bigger fish.
