SoS AE causing CTDs

CTDs happen when I try to load up my saves.

As far as I know there's a race condition somewhere in SOS. Disable the SOS dll; if you're able to load your save, walk around a bit or otherwise spend some time. Save, enable SOS again and load the latest save to make sure it works. If this doesn't work, you may have the wrong version of sos - there may be a bit of confusion with SOS and AE right now.

It does.  For the life of me I can't understand all the threads about "try this DLL, or try this one", when you can simply eliminate the problem all together.  With the added bonus of not downloading executable code from some unvetted person on the internet ?

The dll is there for a reason; what that is I do not know. Everyone seems to be content with just deleting the file instead of finding out why its not working. Maybe the gains are not worth it. Not an issue that plagues me regardless, hence why I have no personal desire to work on the issue.

The Papyrus implementation for SOS is an option, it's also a trade off. And picking the proper dll for your game/SKSE version is not a difficult task.
