XXX of the Commonwealth (Fixed Edition, No Perks)

View File

Big thank you to BKnight07 for giving my poorly scripted mod from 2018 a new life.  When I originally made this mod, I was very new to modding, overlooked some things and made some mistakes that I didn't know how to fix. I took a long break from FO4, modding and ultimately abandoned this project. Coming back to LL years later, I found these fixed versions buried in the discussion page!

Consider the original 1.0 version with perks obsolete.  You can still use it, but it might be buggy for some people.  It can be found by going to my user profile.

BKnight07 fixes:

1. One magazine had two locations.  Obviously not intentional.  One of the locations was removed

2. Incorrect inventory image for one magazine

3. General clean up

4. Glowing layer patch below in attatchments (The glow patch is an ESL and it's not possible load the master ESP "XXXMags2" above it. It may or may not work until I can test it out)

5. Horizon Patch below in attatchments

Both patches require the main mod, but do not require each other (i.e. you can use one, both, or no patches).

This version should give much less issues than the original:

1. No Perks

2. Not available from any vendor (e.g. Arturo)

3. Not available from loot

4. Only found in the world (as the OP intended)

STANDALONE  XXX porno mags have arrived in the commonwealth.

The Lore: A Diamond City photographer and entrepreneur named "Dirty Mike" started

an underground adult magazine business and placed a variety of free samples around

the commonwealth for anyone to find. An undisclosed cut of his cap profits

go to Piper as she lets him use her printing press to produce them.

You can find 72 issues (12 of each publication) No Perks, Fixed Edition

The Titles:
Asstoundingly Awesome Tails
Filth from the Vault
Life & Lust
Massachusetts Smut Journal
Tales of a Junktown Whore

and
Tits Today

i have both the main plug in and the horizon patch, but LOOT says the horizon patch is missing the xxxmags.esp master even though both are enabled.

Can anyone make a location guide? I’ve scoured the commonwealth and am still missing quite a few of these. Wouldn’t need much detail, just the map marker locations of the specific titles.

Worst case, you could open the plugin in FO4Edit, then browse the cell and worldspace temporary edits it makes.

If this does get further updates (not saying it needs to) I do have a few suggestions.

1.  notes with tips of where to find magazines in key quest locations (i.e. in one of the houses in sanctuary., in the museum of freedom, in Diamond city,) as there are so many new magazines perhaps the notes could be separated out so that the note in sanctuary tells you where to find the ones in that corner of the map. As to why in universe, maybe there's a caravan guard who has left them on their travels for a bit of fun. If that's too much then at least a pdf containing all the locations available on the downloads page should people get stuck.

2. Once you collect them all you get a perk to reward you. XXX Collector or something, I would say an achievement but I don't think mods can do achievements. the perk does not have to do anything. It would just be nice to have something in the pipboy to commemorate it.

3. A xxx display rack with special textures.

None of these are really needed but I like collecting things in video games and where to find the collectibles, a reward for finding the collectibles and something to display the collectibles is nice to have.

I made this checklist a long time ago to show where all the mags are.

This is an Open Document Format Word document, with all magazines listed separately, with locations. I have added checkboxes so that you can check off each magazine as you get it, and a single printout can be used for multiple playthroughs.

I don't know if people also have/had this problem but for me magazine "Filth From The Vault 09" had a "Grognak the Barbarian" cover. Found the problem in the material swap section of the .ESP file. I fixed it with FO4Edit by making both SNAM - Replacement Material "Props\XXXMagsHighRes\VaultFilth9.bgsm".

Spoiler

Located with FO4Edit here:  \ [01] XXXMags-2.esp \ [5] Material Swap \ [44] FilthFromTheVault09 [MSWP:010055BD] \ [2] Material Substitutions \ [1] Substitution

Found magazine "Filth From The Vault 08" with the same problem.

That checklist definitely helped but there are a few on there that i have yet to find in there. Corvega, Shamrock and Andrew station never seem to appear and prost bar doesn't let you grab the mag from the couch

Yah, there seems to be a problem with the collision mesh - simple fix:

open console

type in tfc, hit enter (turns off collision)

close console

slowly move towards the magazine, keeping it centered in your crosshairs

at a certain point the magazine title will appear on screen.

pick up the magazine, then back out.

enter console and type in tfc again (this turns collision back on)

close console

For Corvega, if you go in the upper set of doors at the front (facing lexington), turn to the right, then go down the stairs and into the bunk room that is underneath the stairs - the mag should be on the floor between two of the mattresses.

I'll try to track down the exact locations of the other two today and update my post when I have the info. I'll grab screenshots if I can remember, assuming I haven't already grabbed them on this playthrough

Another one i cannot seem to locate is the one in Mass Pike tunnel

Mass Pike tunnel is the side tunnel area that leads out to the Boston Police Rationing site. On the floor next to the dead soldier in the room that has the supplies on the shelves
