Black Bob Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 (edited) I've been playing Skyrim since it was first released, but haven't done a play through with adult mods as yet. I've tried looking for some mods over the past few days, but in my old age, I just don't have the patience I used to have. And, I have never been very technically inclined to begin with. I look at the descriptions of some mods and I go, "that sounds like what I want," then the details get far too technical and I just have no idea what it is on about. Sometimes I come across a mod and it says it requires another mod, I go get that one, then find it requires three other mods, so I look for them and inevitably one of them is no longer available, either the link leads to a page that is no longer available or the mod just isn't there. Its getting frustrating. And I have lost my patience. I am wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction and recommend some mods that will add what I am looking for to the game. I do have Nexus mods Vortex, though something I came across said that there was a better mod manager, though no link on where to get it. So what I am looking for: Decent nude body for male and female characters of the base races Animations - vanilla sex and sex with creatures (including werewolves and vampires) Slavery, BDSM, Rape Pregnancy Glory hole I did grab a succubus mod that sounded interesting. But in my frustration in trying to find other stuff I ended up deleting all the mods I downloaded. (I had no idea what half of them did anyway, was missing required stuff because the links were broken, etc. It was too much and I got overwhelmed.) (I also have a bad habit of just grabbing everything I see with know idea of what it is) Followers and quests I want to keep it simple and not have too many mods. (Last time I tried modding Fallout 4 I had something like over a thousand mods downloaded and constant game crashing (though base game did that anyway)) Edited December 22, 2022 by Black Bob

Either dig in, get serious about it and learn, or forget about it and save yourself the frustration. Based on your post, you don't have much patience or tolerance for difficulty, so this isn't a project you should be engaging with. 1

This F ing AE has borked up the easy process of modding Skyrim, I guess they want to limit who is able to mod to the ones who are trained in PC's. Hell when I was a young man my first "PC" was a Texas Instruments Calculator, the an Atari Console. I just redid my whole mod list after a fresh install, thanks to my Steam link breaking and a underhanded update so I feel your pain. 14 hours of loading files into Vortex, waiting for FNIS to update Vortex, moving on. That I know of there is no Quick and Dirty way to do what you want, you just have to decide what you want, Vanilla Skyrim or Modded Skyrim. Vortex is on the Nexus, FNIS is mandatory, body meshes, adult mod with animation packs. etc with Vortex there is a 250 esp limit to mods, I have 410 total, 181 esp, 229 esl. I would not suggest the Modpacks Nexus is trying to push as the next big thing as you can have then conflicting with other singly installed mods and you will then have to decide between them which to disable or keep. I manually download mods and keep them in a seperate storage drive so when I wish I can drag and drop into Vortex without loosing the mod if I have to do any re arranging. Mostly I am just looking for suggestions on mods that will add something new to the game (as I said, I have been playing it since it came out). I can do limited technical stuff, but my patience is limited as I get older, (especially at this time of year). My biggest grievance is seeing a mod that might be good to add and seeing it requires another mod, but the link to that mod is not working. Then there are all the ones that lead to the crappy mediafire site with it download limit. My other grievance is all those mods that don't give any instructions at all on how to install them, but still require more than just dropping in the mod folder to work. Canaduh Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Have you ever used Mod Organizer or Vortex? I think they will change the game for you. Point the download directory at wherever you download you mods to, and install them from inside whichever you choose.

I too have played Skyrim since it was released, then LE, SE, AE I would send you my mod list, but I backed up my game to 1.5.97 and it is a real hassle to find the mods that are compatible. I you read the install instructions provided by the author, they tell you whether it can be dropped in Mod manager or have to be unzipped and manually installed and if so instructions on where they go. You need body meshes look at SexLab here on LL Ostim on Nexus clothing mods It is difficult to tell you what mods to use as play style and enviroments are different for all users. You will need 7zip for skse64, and SKSE64 Edited December 22, 2022 by caveman74
travelmedic Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 The best piece of advice I can give you is that if you are going to mod your game, you are going to make mistakes as you learn the process. We've all been through it, and had to start over. Think of it as a learning process. Next piece of advice is don't rage quit and delete everything. It just takes that much longer when you go to start over. Pick a good mod manager, either Vortex or Mod Organizer 2, and learn to use it. There are some helpful pinned threads here on LL, and also look for youtube tutorials by Gamer Poets and Gopher. Learn about the mod manager through their videos, and they'll also have other videos about the other tools you'll want. Even if some of their videos may be about setting up for Fallout or Skyrim LE, many of the principles remain the same, but sometimes the other tools may vary a little bit. No one can just give you a mod list, because we all have different tastes. Some people here want to play a shark race, others want to be a furry. Some people want to be virtually enslaved, others want to do the enslaving. Do the work, put in the effort, and build the game that you want, even if it takes you a few tries to get it right. 1
Black Bob Posted January 31, 2023 Author Posted January 31, 2023 So, its been over a month now and i found the mods I wanted. But then ran into the issue of exceeding the plugin limit. Deleted everything from vortex, uninstalled and reinstalled Skyrim. Picked some mods I considered lees important and removed them from my folder of mods I want to use. Tried again. Eventually got below the plugin limit but ran into other problems. Started again. Again. The past couple of days, I would install about 3 or 4 mods at a time and then start the game to see how it goes. Mostly no problems. Now i have gotten to a point where the game goes through the intro with you on the cart to Helgan while it sets up the mods. Arrive at Helgan, all good. Get off the cart, all good. Get to the bit where the horse thief makes his run for it and gets filled with arrows. Problem. He shouts his lines, moves to start running, then all the NPC's stop. I can still acces the menu and quit out and stuff, but the game just stops and since I haven't even done character creation yet, I can't move. At first, I thought it was Horrible Harrasment. I removed it and it went back to working. So I went on to the next mod in the folder (I have my folders sorted into groups based on what the mod does). Put that into Vortex, start new game. Problem returns. Disable the mod, problem remains, remove the mod, problem fixed. It seems I have reached some sort of invisible limit on how many mods I can have that is less than the plugin limit. But it doesn't matter which mod I add, same problem until I delete it. Is it possibly caused by another mod, is it some other problem I am unaware of? I know I should provide a complete list of the mods I have installed, but I can't do that right now. It is 6:21 am and I should be trying for sleep (Mistress Insomnia is a bitch). At this stage, I just want some initial thoughts, and will sort the list out later this arvo after I have hopefully had some sleep and done the things I need to do in town. Either that or later tonight when Mistress Insomnia begins her next session.
travelmedic Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Some of the Bethesda games have a "file handle limit" and you may be at that point if uninstalling one mod makes the game work, but then not work if you add a different one. I'm not sure if Skyrim has this limit or bug, but it sounds like it might. The file handle limit might change from game to game, but it consists of esp and esm plugins and bsa archives. In my recent game of Fallout 4, even though I was below the 255 plugin limit, I was still hitting the hidden file handle limit, which was maybe in the 400s. If that's what's happening, and I don't know that it is, there are a few options. 1 - just pick a couple of mods you can live without and remove them. DON'T DELETE YOUR WHOLE INSTALLATION!!! 2 - try merging a few small mods. For Skyrim Legacy Edition I used Merge Plugins by Mator. I don't know if it will work for whatever version of Skyrim that you are running. If you go this route, you can NOT merge anything with scripts, or anything with custom dialogue. Some easy things I used to merge were simple weapon mods into one esp, simple armor mods into another esp, and simple generic followers into a third esp. 3 - the third option might be to find a bsa unpacker somewhere (Nexus has some) and convert some of your bsa archives to loose files, then delete the bsa. I would only do this for small mods as the game engine will supposedly load bsa archives more efficiently.

Another thing to do is read up on flag as light, or ESL, the little feathers in Vortex plugin page, some mods can be flagged light to reduce the number of ESP's you have. Some mods allow and work fine, some it pisses off and they hate on you for it. The Major mods I install first like address library, FNIS, Engine Fixes, Sky UI, Papyrus Util and Extender, MFG fix to name a few. Hell I am having issues right now and I been at this since 2000. Not very long but long enough to learn some things.

My user name was a modification of the scottish name for the devil (Black Donald), my real name being Robert, sometimes gets shortened to Bob. I will take a look at the guide. Taking a break and playing a bit of Civ 6 before I get back into trying to get Skyrim working. Sometimes taking a step back for a little bit helps. Didn't realise I came across as ragey. Really sorry about that. Ragey is not me. A little frustrated, yeah, some mental health issues plaguing me a bit lately. Started this just before Christmas, always a bad time of year. Plus other things. Now I am waffling. Anyway, like I said I will look into the guide, and thanks for sharing it. On 2/6/2023 at 3:18 AM, caveman74 said: Do you have Engine Fixes for SSE? This problem happens well before I reach the plugin limit though. Looks to me like I am going to have to go through again and pick more mods to drop. Bit of a pain, especially since most of the time I drop one mod I don't want, then find out five mods I do want depend on it. To all those that thought I sounded ragey and angry, really sorry about that, thanks for the help. it is appreciated.
