Frayed Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 View File Runic Collar Description: This mod adds a metal collar with some glowing magic circles that move around it. The circle actually emits light, too (and in even more detail if you use ENB). It doesn't do anything else at the moment - this mod is mostly intended to be used as an asset for people to make replacers for collars in other mods, as a resource for people who want to replicate the effect for their own mods, or as a standalone version for people who just like magic collars. How to obtain: Use a mod like AddItemMenu or use the console command help "runic collar" followed by player.additem xx000801 and/or player.additem xx000809 (for the dim version), where xx has to be replaced by the two digits you see for the corresponding item when you typed help "runic collar". (These two numbers are the index of the mod in your load order). Requirements: None! Installation: Install as normal using a mod manager. Compatibility: LE/AE/VR/GOG: Only tested this on Steam SE v1.5.97, but it's a simple mod and should work everywhere. If you use any other version, please try the mod and let me know if you have issues. FAQ: Q: "Do you have this in another color?" A: Change the color of the magic circle textures in Runic Collar\Textures\Fray\RunicCollar. You can do this using most paint programs e.g. paint.net. Specifically, change: CollarCircleInnerC.dds CollarCircleInnerCDim.dds CollarCircleInnerMost.dds CollarCircleInnerMostDim.dds ironcollarleashingglow.dds (if you also want to change the collar glow color). If you're nitpicky you might also want to change the color of the red bits in ironcollarleashing_e.dds. This texture is for reflections on the collar, so if you change the others but not this one, you might still see some red streaks reflected on the collar. Thanks: Layam @ LL/Nexus for the model of the collar itself, and for giving me permission to use and redistribute it. Powerofthree's Strange Runes for examples on how to make glowy rotatey runes. Permissions: You are free to reuse anything in this mod with a few key exceptions: For its redistributed parts mentioned in the Thanks section. For those you'll have to check the original mod/author's permissions. equasym19 Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 I have wanted a replacement for the physical collars a long time, but never got the patience to get nif exports working. Thank you for providing such a good starting point
Crystal_Emily285 Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 these look really cool great work 1
angelhunter Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Oh nice. I always liked the look of the collar from paradise halls, but I couldn't be bothered dealing with the rest of the mod.

No, the circle is supposed to be present always while the collar is equipped. When you say randomly, do you mean "it sometimes disappears while I'm looking at it" or "sometimes when look at my follower it isn't on"? The latter might be some issue with the effect not applying properly on cell reload / when you cross doors. I can check it.
kohlteth Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 I love the look on here, but when I put it on an NPC, no glow sadly ? , I hope to get it working as it looks great , especially as I have Darker Nights too, so was looking forward to seeing it at night especially.
Raine_Hyd Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 I use it on 1.6.3x and it works fine for me. Didn't update to the latest AE version so can't say for that.

I've had the issue of if I load a save with a follower or change cells it will sometimes stop glowing. It can be fixed by reequipping it on them. But I am also able to "equip" it when I have a normal DD collar on and it'll show the runic ring glow.

The latter might be some issue with the effect not applying properly on cell reload / when you cross doors. I can check it. The second option cos sometimes when my follower comes around I don't see the incantation around the collar, I thought it would be a feature you are trying where it triggers randomly, based on certain conditions like for sex lab aroused or devious devices. And yeah I had seen that on unequip/equip. The incantation came back on. Tbh, I can't stop praising this work enough, also while writing this comment I had certain ideas pop up which based on the design and style of the collar matches the lore as well. Like potential to see entire runic set with collar, arms, legs, belt.etc Color coded runic design working against player when worn like for example if the runic design is red , flame spell makes drains player health and makes player horny every time the player uses it and similar features based on each spell and color. Or something along the way of cursed loot or sldefeat, where if the player is locked in this collar, the collar does all the devious devices equip plug functionalities and once the entire functionality is finished and the player still was not able to remove the collar a new piece of attachment from runic set also gets attached with player going through all the troubles from prior. Alongside a slave tattoo also is gradually forming which becomes complete and permanent once the player is locked in the runic set. In case of collar getting attached after defeat, which ever faction attached this collar to player, the player doesn't fight with the faction but instantly yields to the faction thereafter thus making the player force to remove the collar before confrontation with the said faction again. Since this item, already seems a part of the skyrim lore, I think you can implement the above ideas and would add more the skyrim gameplay. And I know it is too early to recommend this, but I shared what came to my mind. And Yes I know, I should be engaging in less of hentai mangas. But w.r.t this collar these are some of the scopes it can reach and flourish.
yurik Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 (edited) Skyrim engine strips all active spells from NPCs on cell load. This is why the glow disappears. I faced this feature when I was developing my own mod. The standard workarounds are either to add the spell through NPC references in an active quest, or to reapply them dynamically on cell load, e.g. with SPID. Thanks for the mod, really good work! I might use your assets if you don't mind ? PS. Merry Xmas! Edited December 25, 2022 by yurik
harems Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 hi, when equip runic collar, it make my facelight go off, is it error ?

Feel free to use these assets as you please. But keep in mind the collar itself is from @layam. I got a hold of him on Nexusmods and got his permission to redistribute and from his reply I suspect he'd be fine with other people using it, but he hasn't stated that explicitly, so for now kindly do not redistribute those bits without messaging him. I've already sent him a message asking his preferences regarding that, I'll let you know and update the mod description when I have his answer. KitKatKseniya Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Really cool! Would you ever think of doing hand and leg cuffs with the same effect? 1
duzellx Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 nice collar, would you expand it to offer different colors to choose from while ingame
ungodlytomato Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 hi is there any news whether its ok to use this as modders resource

Sure, I'd just repeat the same trick. I don't have arm/leg cuff models that match the collar, though. And I'm no good at 3D modeling, so I can't make them. I could maybe just reuse the collar model, though. I'm focusing on Trappings atm. 2 hours ago, ungodlytomato said: hi is there any news whether its ok to use this as modders resource I haven't heard back from Layam about that yet, unfortunately. I've sent him another message as a reminder. If you swap out the actual collar mesh itself then you can do whatever you want with it, since all the other parts were made by me and I'm perfectly fine with that. 1
Un Rama Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 its must be cooler if used lewdmark symbol that can show the mark over the clothes or armor
MorS@ Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 How can this be made into a DD collar? I'm willing to do it if its not much of a hassle.
equasym19 Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 On 4/2/2023 at 7:20 AM, MorS@ said: How can this be made into a DD collar? I'm willing to do it if its not much of a hassle. should be as easy as following this tutorial (https://github.com/DeviousDevices/Docs/wiki/Creating-a-new-device) for generic devious devices and then adding the effect to display the runes to the enchantment on the rendered device if you want fancy features like an additional effect that is signaled by the runes it would be vastly more complex, but using this as the model should be incredibly easy.
yurik Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 I'm using your effects ? Thanks for sharing your work, I absolutely love it! 2
Frayed Posted October 15, 2023 Author Posted October 15, 2023 Small update regarding permissions: I asked Layam on Nexus about whether he'd be okay with freeing up the permissions for the mesh of the collar itself, and he agreed: I figured I'd wait a while to see if he'd post here himself, but he hasn't yet, so for now I'll just refer to this screenshot for permission. So for anyone interested (@ungodlytomato@yurik and possibly @Ixmore) : feel free to use all of this mod's content as a resource in any way you like. (Except as before for for-profit projects, locking it behind a paywall, or using it for commercial purposes). 5
