Heroine HoneyCrotch Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 As I inch ever closer to a massive playthrough I have put much focus on Roleplaying aspects and I would like to share some ideas with the community. I also would like to eat your brains,to gain your knowledge,or maybe just see some other peoples ideas that would be cool to implement on my end. Quick contexts: My char is gonna be nord(1H,archer,sneak +I got a good preset) who isn't an evil guy but also isn't the people's champion(which I usually play)He comes to Tamriel as stranger, a young man,who escaped slavery from an unknown location and he just wants to crush some fine pussy and to discover and expand his badassness. He starts off weak(starting stats are low) and in my game you dont level up to lvl15 in first 4 hours of gameplay. When I start game my char cant do shit except swing a weapon. My archery starts at skill lvl 5, and I wont have him touch a bow until he gets archery to lvl 8. I can also only train with a trainer only 2 times per level. Alchemy: I have my game set at master, I use Revenge of the enemies, shit is real. I use ultimate combat as well which makes some things easier and sometimes works against player, it's a harsh world. My char is gonna need to know how to make some poisons and healing potions at minimum. Along with refraining from just making potions out of ingredients that I know work(years of playing) I use the mod Learn Alchemy from Recipes mod. My char will refrain from making any potions until my Alchemy lvl is 10(starts at 5) and will only make potions when I have i learned how to from reading an alchemy Recipe(either found or bought from alchemist) Mentioned mod helps with this role play. I also will not eat ingredients to learn an effect unless its a reasonable one like Juniper Berries, snow berries, ect, Not eating a fucking giant's toe, guaranteed! And while I have no mechanics forcing it, I will limit how many different recipes I can learn for same effect(Healing) and will slightly(for short time, maybe alchemy lvl 30) limit how many different types(Healing,Poison,Lockpicking) my char can utilize Smithing/Enchanting: This one has built in mechanics: I start with smithing at lvl 10 and in game without mods I almost cant do shit. I can tan leather(which gives xp) and I can craft leather but I cant improve it. I am using Honed Metal mod which doubles for enchanting use too. For immersive reasons I am never collecting an armor from an enemy and wearing it, maybe boots, wrist, helmet but not the main armor. I use Honed Metal mod and have blacksmith make my gear, it comes improved as well though its pricey. Really enjoying this though new Honed Metal seems to be a little fucked, works but inappropriate menus pop up throughout process, I might revert back a version. I also use said mod to gain and improve weapons and to have armor and weapons enchanted as this mod allows the player to have court wizards and enchanters to enchant your gear though its pricey(MCM options available). Cant remember if mining ore gives player xp in vanilla, in my game its a no. Magic: My char knows no spells, might get there but it won't be easy. My char starts at lvl 5 on all spells and I use SPell Tutor mod which has mcm, my setup is you cant learn any spell unless you are lvl 10 in that particular spells school of magic. In my game, as early said, lvl up is not something that happens really quick. Without mechanics I am roleplaying that no one would want to follow me, so I dont ask. If I need help i can hire a mercenary. Once I get to lvl 10 I can take advantage of NFF mods multi-follower feature and get a crew. In the meantime while I am lvl'ng up I mine and use missives board mod plus whatever comes my way that is doable. Leveling up by changing the game settings: FXPLevelUpBase and FXPLevelUpMulti seems to throw off mods that do certain things(start) when your char hits a defined lvl( i have seen mods that are not suppose to start unil x lvl and they start anyways? Nothing breaking on my end. Starting with lower stats can be achieved with game settings: iAVDSkillStart https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51024 Honed Metal https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34795 Learn ALchemy for Recipes https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/106511 Spell Tutor For sex I am mostly using personal stuff(low level productions) and outside of whores I have at the Inns, which I roleplay that I have to rent room for their service, it is hard for char to get laid unless using Defeat,Senpai,Solutions. Started game yesterday and 2 days in game and char couldnt get laid, turned down maybe 6 to 7 times, finally banged an ETAC girl that was result of dialogue that I added to her for sex in ETAC mod, going back into ETAC prior to really starting a playthrough and making change3s for that dialogue to be a no, until my char speech is lvl 25(its like I hate him)

I also would like to eat your brains,to gain your knowledge,or maybe just see some other peoples ideas that would be cool to implement on my end. I do some similar things to you I lower starting skills (not as much as you) lower carrying weight but also added standalone perks that are copied from Conditioning and Unhindered in the Hvy and Light Armour trees, so worn armour weighs nothing and I use custom difficulty mod so my character is still able to put out some ok damage but a decent hit from a tough opponent can still one shot them. I haven't gone so far as using or modifying anything to change magic but do similar to you in that I will not use Heal or Flames until I have found the book. I also won't touch the college and only buy spells from Store vendors, not Mages. This limits magic a lot, sadly I have yet to find any mod that adds more spell books to loot tables. I use the original version of MW&A as it contains an option as to whether armour/clothes fit or not and if it doesn't you will need to lug that around until you find a blacksmith you can pay to refit, not cheap if it's expensive or enchanted, or just leave them. However I wouldn't recommend as this doesn't play well with Honed Metal which I had tried as I always preferred TW3's method for crafting, find the pattern/recipe and the materials then pay a master smith but as they both use a method of adding the items to your inventory this can cause some problems. It also has many other issues, not least save bloat so I wouldn't recommend it. Monoman gave up on this version (has since started again) as making the Skyrim engine do something it was never intended to do was, by all accounts, a nightmare. I also use a custom race and have reduced the regen amount to (have to open xEdit now to see what I have reduced it to) 0.1 instead of 0.7 which means food is very important because regeneration over time takes forever... Horker or Venison Stew and Vegetable soup are the best but they also weigh the most. Also use SkyrimSouls and set it so only Console and Favourites menu will pause the game. Sex is only there in the form of Defeat for me although might as well not be the amount of times I just load the save as if I had died. I've tried to make it more punishing in getting robbed etc so it has more of a game penalty. Your choice of play style is one that you often end up having to take when you add extra difficulties to the game since Skyrim's combat is "of it's time" and limited. However, the Stealth archer and stealth backstab can also be way OP. It's not that the damage is unrealistic it's that the AI is hopeless. If you hit someone with a stealthed shot and they do not die they shouldn't give up looking for you in the next 10 to 30 seconds (which is like 3 - 10 minutes game time) when they have an arrow sticking out of them. Same goes for finding a dead associate with their throat cut... That wasn't natural causes and you weren't just imagining it. I'd be interested if there are any mods that fix the AI in these situations. 1

I had ultimate combat, wildcat and no Revenge of the enemies installed recently and played a little with the bow and my shitty bow,no perk having ass was one shooting everything in sight. I know i have/had something in LO recently that helped a little with AI when enemies get hit with arrows/ranged and Im pretty sure Ultimate Combat does have an mcm option that makes npcs look for you longer, will look into to that sometime soon and report what I find.

I already have a mod that gives Draugr more shouts, means you either need to be close enough to interrupt them or be able to take cover as you don't know what might be coming and Ice Form is a death sentence on Master or above difficulty since they will get at least 2 free hits on you. Oh yeah, and I use Eli's Knock Their Boots off so Unrelenting Force will strip you of all equipped armour/clothes and weapons... And given how things can fall through the floor, you may never get them back.

Your lvl 10 with decked out gear and perks will get destroyed. And i did proper review of Most be my imagination and mod only changes what npcs say. @Mez558 what custom race mod you using if you dont mind?
Mez558 Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 1 hour ago, Heroine HoneyCrotch said: @Mez558 what custom race mod you using if you dont mind? Tera Castanic But any custom race that has a generic, humanoid appearance would really do if you know your way around xEdit. There are probably better ones now, I've not looked, I might have to do that now. I think I started using it as I wanted to create a character with Horns some years ago (I recall asking questions about smaller horns on here) and been using it ever since.
karlpaws Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 I haven't gone the way you two have to make my game difficult, and I'm not sure how you skill up in something you don't use, unless you're just buying training and leveling up with other skills? Sounds like 1 handed and sneak, likely not getting hit for the armor skills... eh. Not for me but that's ok. What I can suggest are options on the enemy AI and spell books. Not sure how much this will help but in SkyTweak, you could adjust how long an enemy looked for you, how well stealth covered you, amount of light and sound and other stealth related things. If you don't have that already or are not using something else that can do that, it might make a difference. Spells wise, I have two mods to suggest... mostly since I don't remember which one if not both, added their books to the leveled lists. Whichever one did, it had a set of lists (which includes the chance of the item in the list being on an NPC) and on loading a new game or a save with this mod for the first time, would add its lists to the existing leveled loot lists. You could open the mod in tes5edit or the CK and add some of the vanilla books to its lists and they would show up in the world a little more often, especially if you tweaked the mod's list chances. I do not remember the name of the mod because I never really used it, but another made you read a book several times before fully learning a spell. Something like that might help with your role play. LG in particular might be more useful with its added spells giving you a couple more options in certain schools to fit a role play, even though by adding more spells you turn the game into a more high magic world than what it sounds like you're playing. Lost Grimoire Useful Alteration You might also look for Einarr the Red's Prettier Bandits mod here since I think he did add some extra AI tweaks to the bandits though I don't think he got anything added to the rest of the NPCs he fixed. 1
Heroine HoneyCrotch Posted December 20, 2022 Author Posted December 20, 2022 (edited) @Mez558 About Ultimate Combat Mod also comes with some new attack moves, I believe only for enemies, as I have seen some bandits/Human1H attacks that are pretty neat. I recommend Low on npc dodge which npcs do in combat the base animation is a roll, you CAN, not needed, rerun fnis with mod installed and check tk something box, in patches you'll see it in fnis or on nexus mod page if you dl and try it. The fnis check box patch for mod is only if you want to change npc dodge roll to a dodge step, the roll set to low is pretty good though Spoiler Edited December 20, 2022 by Heroine HoneyCrotch

Is that even a Word?! I do pretty much what has already been posted, I dislike followers as they usually get kills that should have gone toward my stats, plus they love to block doorways! I generally do not use much magic as by the time I get my spell ready, I am either dead or way behind the curve, I'm more of a Barbarian.

Magic just sucks Illusion and Conjuration are the only trees worth bothering with, they are pretty useful, especially playing a weak character but other than that, yes Magic is not very well balanced and from what I have seen of the Mods that try to address this it can end up going too far the other way. One way I set up to play a mage character, using master difficulty so any melee or range combat damage is pitiful but then using the console command destructionpowermod xxx to increase the damage of destruction spells, so they can be just as crap as they would be on Adept difficulty but not totally nerfed as they are when set to Master or Legendary.

Not sure now what I had hard time reconciling over with particular build but eventually said no to it. I left some magic stuff in LO cause, the idea anyways is, I will have long playthrough and maybe my guy finds magic immersively throughout playthrough. For illusion stuff, I seek to accomplish some of its features through alchemy.
