Quick question:

Is it even necessary to check the sex for the code to work?

 

Like if just shortened the command to

 

OR = {
            is_attracted_to_gender_of = root
    }

 

then it should give the same output with three less checks?

You could just leave only:

 

is_attracted_to_gender_of = root

 

I wanted to keep the original code pattern to give a possibility for restricting romance according to the gender.

Suggestion: Make the events trigger also for bastards.

 

Explanation: If bastard knows the secret of their heritage they can also approach their relatives. This could be an idea for new events or it could work for older ones. Could maybe even add some power play here, for example the bastard blackmailing/flexing their hook

Thank you for your interest in the mod and suggesting new ideas!
In fact, I've been thinking for some time about possible new events and even about making a poll to understand what people want in the next version.
But right now this mod is not a priority for me and I can't say when I will be able to update it next time.

 

Regarding the suggestion about hooks, that bastards can get. As far as I understand, the probability that the player will play as a bastard and the secret of his origin will not be disclosed earlier is quite small.
I planned to add some new events, that rely on hooks, but abandoned the idea.

Oh, I wasn't' just looking as the player being bastard. The player could be the parent of the bastard and get blackmailed, or it could be other NPC's gaining hooks over other, right now bastards have very little mechanics in the game.

Ive played with this an really enjoyed it. Its fun with AGOT especially. But i think there should be a game rule that limits what characters can get the event! If this isnt already a system and Ive misunderstood something, but i think its more fun for these events to be rare. Maybe an event has a chance of spawning when your character comes to age, or when you start playing as them that gives you the incestuous secret/trait and allows the events to happen. The event could be more likely spawned through traits like lustful, gregarious, ambitious, and cultural and faith tenents, and decreased by traits like zealous (unless allowed by faith), chaste, content, and shy.

You could make events more rare using mod settings in Game rules.

Character traits are taken into consideration in some events. Lustful characters will most likely try to hit on your player character. Some traits are required for special events. In general, it's hard to balance the mod if seduction attempts are strictly limited by traits. Sometimes, I had to wait for ~200 years to get a single event...

That's the problem, like I said it's underutilized and mostly player sided while totally  on RNG with AI, it seems ridiculous that some ruler a few counties/kingdoms apart can know of bastard ancestry secret faster than the bastard themselves. Now, for example if there was an event when the bastard turns 16 they press their parent to tell them the secret and say based on skill check the bastard learns the secret, which then lets them reveal/gain a hook on the ruler/other parent if they wish

I remember this mod from about a year ago but got it from the steam page, is there any difference between here and the steam version? (ie more explicit stuff added)

Version: 1.7.13 (04.11.2025)

 

- Updated for CK3 version 1.18.x
- You can Elope with your lover if you are close relatives and can't get married because of consanguinity doctrine of your faith, becoming landless adventurers(requires "Roads to power" DLC). Your lover will lose all previous family ties and become your spouse.
- As a child of two close relatives that eloped from their country, you can take their former domain and get some bonuses through a new decision "A chip off the old block".
- Updated localization files.

 

Release notes:

 

First, a quick note about the mod's status.

Currently, I don't plan to actively develop it due to my busy schedule, but I will try to update the mod as new versions of CK3 are released.
New features may be added to the mod, but they won't be a priority.

 

I've come across several discussions about secret marriages in CK3 or the possibility of marrying if it contradicts religious prohibitions.
There were several possible options, but I implemented the most balanced one(in my opinion).

To begin with, the "Elope" interaction in CK3 is quite oddly designed and is rarely used by players.
It is impossible to elope with a lover if you cannot marry due to your religion's consanguinity doctrine.

 

However, assuming the player character is ready to flee, his lover might also run away with him and declare that she no longer considers herself as a part of her former family. After this, they get married in secret(assuming their true origins are unknown at that time), and then become landless adventurers.

I had the same problem and placed the mod at the end of the mod list – after starting a new game, the mod started working, but I don't know if anything will change during the current game.

hi i posted this on the steam mod page as well don't know which one you would respond to sooner but when trying to romance my mother in the ancient china time so she can become my soul mate the game crashes
