Game loading speed problem.

Hello. I have a problem with the game that I don't know if you can help me with.

When I start the game for the first time, if in the sequencer I load a room or the customization screen of a model, it loads fast (it takes a minute or two).

If I want to load another room or customize another model, the game does not load. . It takes ten or twenty minutes for the room or customization screen to load. Lately I even have to close the game because the room or the customization screen did not start.

I have been analyzing the situation and I think the problem may be in the number of poses or addons (clothes, rooms...) that I have. I have about 5,800 poses and several hundred or thousands of clothing files.

I have verified that if I make a new installation of the game and leave the files that come by default, the game loads quickly and, even if I change the room or the customization window of a model, the game loads quickly and takes a minute or two to start.

Am I to understand that the problem is indeed in the excessive number of poses and addons? In the documentation of the game that appears when you press F1 it says that even with a lot of mods the game in the VX version loads fast, but I don't know how far that "a lot of"  goes.

What could be the solution?. Delete files? Organize them in folders or in some other way?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi,

I dont think its the number of poses, once i had 10.000 poses installed but no problems like you have. The only thing you can do is to disable all your addons and then re enable them one by one until you find the addon wich caused that problem. Also there is always a chance that youll find an error in the games log files.

More RAM is always a good idea but the game uses only 4GB if this option is checked in the optman.exe wich you can find in the /binaries

folder. What really increases the loading speed is to install it on a fast

SSD drive.Important in this case is that your C:/ drive is also an SSD cause i noticed that the game caches on the C:/ drive.I didnt checked if

this can be modified in the config files.I read that in case of using hook5 the nvidia stuff can increase the performance but idk exactly how cause i use an old AMD Radeon with 2 gig ram. :(

I have eight 8 GB of RAM. I think the RAM is not the problem.

I've double-checked that it's some kind of problem with the poses. When I try to reinstall the poses I had, the problem occurs. If I empty the poses folder, the problem is solved.

I have doubts about whether I am placing them in the correct folder. Since I've been with the game since version 7.5, I was used to putting them in Community/PoseEdit. But in the VX version they must be put into Poses, right?

I don't think the number of poses is a problem. If I had to guess, it sounds like a memory issue. Do you have the "4GB patch" installed? (You should.)

Since TK17 is a 32bit app, it can only access 4GB of total memory at once. That INCLUDES memory used up by Windows (about a 1/2 GB) and TK17 itself, leaving only about 1.5GB for your use. :( And when you fill it up with Addons and large textures, there's nothing left for your sequence. So Windows must resort to "Virtual Memory", swapping 1.5GB blocks of memory in & out of ram (and you know how long copying a 1.5GB file takes.)

The 4GB patch lets TK17 use ALL 4GB of your ram, so it has to resort to swapping less frequently. If you aren't using it, install it. (Unfortunately, since TK17 is a 32bit app, adding more than 4GB to your computer won't help.

If your C;  drive is an old/slow & badly fragmented HDD (even if TK17 is on another drive), that can slow you down even more. If it's almost full, double that delay. Free up as much space as possible and defrag it. If possible, install/move TK17 to an SSD.

Are you using Hook? If so, which version? If you already have the patch installed and are using an SSD, Try running in "OpenGL" mode to see if it helps. Disable your largest Addons (everything > 30MB) and don't use 4x textures... all of which fills up your ram quickly.

If the problem persists, it's not a memory issue.

I have found the solution. Or, at least, a solution that works.

Sounds like it wasn't a memory or disk issue. Looks like it was a pose placement issue. I was putting the poses in the Poses folder. I noticed that the game made a copy of the poses located in the Poses folder and placed that copy in Community/PoseEdit. I deleted the contents of both folders and copied my collection of poses to Community/PosEdit. The problem disappeared. Rooms and customizer load in two minutes and I have my entire collection of poses and addons. Even increasing the number of poses (from 5,800 to 8,162) load times are maintained. I'll keep watching over the next few days.

However, thanks for the help.

Don't do this.

The "Community/PosEdit/" folder is for importing poses. If you try to edit an imported pose, it saves a copy to the "Save" folder so you end up with two copies of the same pose (pre & post edit.)

Keep the "Community/PosEdit/" folder empty and use it ONLY for importing new (or incorrectly named/numbered) poses. Use "TKX_Utils" to easily move imported poses in bulk to the "Local" Save folder.
