moody132 Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 How do you handle your end-patch in SSE? I am still using Wrye bash, but it started to pissing mi off, it always skip some levellists, even when i manually added bashed patch to it, even if they are listed that they will and they was added to patch. It sometimes adds plugins as masters that are deactivated. SSEMerged patch cannot be done with so much plugins. on LE i used TES5Merged (same thing), removed levellists and levelactors, and then make bashed patch. I never used Mator smash, i heard it also have plugin limit. Perfectly i would like to have one big patch, and few smaller ones, one for NPCs, one for levellists, so i do not have to rebuild it every time i make a small chnge in theese areas. How do you handle this?
pinkfluf Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 (edited) hi I have a custom patch I've built up over the months (and still adding to) that loads after bashed patch. Like you I could see some inconsistencies in lvl lists etc. So what I did was load everything up in ssedit (incl bashed patch) then check for conflicts and forward changes (that were either missed or didn't seem right) I wanted to my custom patch. spoonsinger Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 Xedit - Merged Patch for everything but leveled lists Wyre Bash - For Leveled Lists only. I don't merge mods with Wyre Bash. Not really required with SE because anything that could me merged will mostly likely can be formID(*) compacted and ESL flagged. (and even on LE, I just used to merge manually rather than just do automation so I knew what was going on). Don't change load order on a run, (adding things at the the end of the list is OK as long as you can load the whole load order up in xEdit and see if anything has been changed/been overwritten with the new addition. In which case you can then just create an additional module by hand to compensate for the changes. On a run FormID's can be baked into the save. They don't necessarily compensate to a mid load order change so will effectively be pointing to a different module where that formID might or might not exist - either way not what you want). (*) Sometimes you have to look at the scripts for hard coded formID's and change appropriately.
belegost Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 (edited) I do it manually in xEdit by loading the entire load order and copying over the conflicting records, picking and choosing what I want. Yes, it takes a long time. Yes, it gives an absolute control over the final result. No, I don't recommend it, unless you're a masochist. Edited August 6, 2022 by belegost
bnub345 Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 I recommend looking at synthesis patcher, it has a lot of utilities. Wrye bash is pretty good and does a variety of things, but it needs bash tags assigned to be really effective. I've heard good things about unofficial mator smash updated, but don't use it myself. Don't use the old mator smash, it is outdated and only made as a temporary solution while wrye bash was overhauled. And you will need to use xEdit and look at your whole list if you want everything to be patched correctly.
