Ark of Truth Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Just to let everyone know I am going to be creating a new installer for the Lovers with PK mods. If you don't want your mod included into the package please post here with the name and the page it is located on. Cheers Ark
gregathit Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Ark, You are free to include anything I have had a hand in, without any restrictions. While I understand and appreciate your willingness to help make it easier to install LPK, I think this is a mistake to do. Right now there are 3 versions of the resource pack and two of the base pack. There are quite a few plugins that are different versions and that are linked to yet other plugins. An example of this would be WappyOne's RaperS being linked to Ichabod's PSE and Fejeena's LB gone wild plugin. Another example is Truecrime - there are two versions, one for the DS animations (v2 resource pack) and one for the 11-200 bbb animations pack. You'll have to decide which to include as including both would lead to a bunch of work on your part to enable\disable other things. This obviously makes for a rather complicated installation package and could lead to more confusion that it resolves. Clearly it is your call if you want to spend the time doing it and while I won't oppose it, I am not inclined to offer any support for it either. I do want to make things as easy for folks to install and use WHILE balancing "choice" for people to play with the plugins they want and not just what is in the package. Another issue is new versions. While this isn't the problem that it once was with new versions showing up all the time, we are still behind in many of the version and I am in the process of updating things as I have time. Slammer64 is also helping with this. This was the main quibble I always had with Prophour's AIO and why I never cared to support it. I wish you the best of luck.
fejeena Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 You can add my Mods (LBGW and BU addon), but both will be extended.
Ark of Truth Posted July 13, 2013 Author Posted July 13, 2013 Yeah I'm going to do it differently from prophour's. This one is going to ask you to choice using a guided launcher rather then drag and drop. When it's done expanding will be easy and you will be able to choose what plugins you want. However the plugins you can choose from is determined by what resource pack you install. The pack will including all the base packs, all the resource packs and all the plugins that I can find. The biggest part is getting the install script working. However if it doesn't work as intended I can just stop doing it.
Someone92 Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Are you thinking of an .exe installer? I don't think that's a good idea because it's makes it very laborious to later customize or update your mods. I agree with varenne that a BAIN-ready .zip or .7z file would be the best approach. It's not only the most user-friendly way to modify your Oblivion installation later on it also teaches newbies to use a proper mod-managing tool right from the start.
Ark of Truth Posted July 13, 2013 Author Posted July 13, 2013 I don't know yet I have not even started. How hard would it be to merge all the base and resources pack so that it's all compatible?
Someone92 Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 How hard would it be to merge all the base and resources pack so that it's all compatible? With Wrye Bash all you need is a sensible folder structure, e.g.: 00 Docs\ <- add all READMEs here 10a resource pack Version 2 (install only one set of the 10x folders)\ 10a Lovers with PK Rev 91\ 10b resource pack Version 3\ 10b Lovers with PK Rev 96\ 10b additional animations 11-200\ 10c Lovers Animated Penis Base Pack\ 10c Lovers Animated Penis Resource Pack\ 20a LoversRapeSGalgatVersion (install only one set of the 20x folders)\ 20b Lovers RaperS - WappyOne's Edition\ ... and so forth Important: Don't add a data folder in the sub-folders, otherwise Wrye Bash doesn't find the files (at least not with default settings): Example: 10b Lovers with PK Rev 96\data\Lovers with PK.esp -> Wrye Bash won't find the file 10b Lovers with PK Rev 96\Lovers with PK.esp -> Wrye Bash will find the file An Wrye Bash installer (irrc it's called Wizard) could make installing a little more DAU-resistent, e.g. the installer could ask "Do you want to use Lovers Rev 96?" and if you click "Yes!" it would select all files that are required to to use Rev96. In addition you could show pictures if it appropriate, e.g. along with the question "Do you want to install creature dicks?" you could show a few creatures with and without one. Also: Include a .txt file with a list of all the mods that you've included, their version number and the date they were last edited; that makes finding out if there's an update for one of the mods in the package much, much easier.
